Gaia Collective MoonBox “Elevate” Review January 2019

The first card MoonBox provides is a helpful survey that allows you to take a moment to write down your intentions this moon cycle, plan how to take action on said intentions and what to leave behind and learn from this phase.

The second insert describes the featured items included in the box, as well as instructions on how they should be used. It also gives a general overview of the major cosmic events happening this month. This month has a New Moon in Capricorn and a partial Solar Eclipse on January 5th (which also marks the end of Uranus retrograde under the influence of Aries). This month’s Elevation theme reminds us that January stands as a potential new start to renew and revitalize our energies. This is also a great time to reflect on past intentions, taking long moments now to refine our values and assess the authenticity of our connections.

Cosmic Collage Moon Calendar

Each box comes with a colorful woven mat that acts as a lunar and astrological calendar for the month. The focus of this January mat is Capricorn, an ambitious, reliable and stable sign symbolized by the sea-goat. This vivid mat would look great used as a decorative calendar or as a respite for your new crystals.

2019 Lunar Calendar by Annie Tarasova - Retail Value $12.85 (found here for $6.43)

I am learning more and more about lunar phases, and this card is the perfect accessory to whip out for fast reference. The artwork is really beautiful, printed on really thick, high-quality cardstock.

Gypsy Soul Organics Rose Face Toner, 2oz - Retail Value $16

Unfortunately, this toner leaked throughout the box, and that is why the label looks so shabby. Comprised of rose water, witch hazel leaf, aloe vera leaf, lavender flower, and green tea leaf, this toner is suited for any skin type, including blemish-prone skin. The lavender scent is a little too strong for me, but it did make my skin feel quite soft and nourished.

Incense Route Incense Tray

I like the dark wood of this incense tray, and the little star accents are very cute. This tray measures 10 inches long and will be put to good use with the incense sampled last month (see review here) by Sacred Elephant. I couldn’t find this tray on the website provided on the info sheet, but I linked their site in case they list it in the future.

Firepot Nomadic Teas Soul Revival - Estimated Value $0.68 (buy 14 sachets for $9.49)

This is a spicy, energizing chai to start the day with. I really love the luxe packaging of this tea and the pyramid style tea bags.

Firepot Nomadic Teas House of Peace - Estimated Value $0.68 (buy 14 sachets for $9.49)

This tea is a delicious herbal blend that I enjoyed with just a drop of honey. This brand is USDA organic and fair trade certified, and I think it would make a beautiful gift for any tea lover who is also eco-conscious.

And now, the January crystal picks!

Onyx for reflection & grounding - place on Root Chakra

Onyx is not only a great stone for reflection, but it is also considered a warrior stone, combating negative thought patterns. It is also used to ward off fear and anxieties caused by fear. This small stone has a nice weight and feel to it, and I’m happy to add it to my ever-growing collection.

Citrine for abundance, motivation and prosperity, great for business - keep in office

The shape and color of this crystal is so pretty! Citrine is known to help improve mental clarity and mental output, which is a great tool for the start of a new year. I’ve also been having trouble transitioning back to work mode from holiday mode, so maybe meditating with citrine will help set me in the right direction.

Petrified Wood for wisdom, fortification and presence, place on Root Chakra, meditate on body or in left hand

This is a very interesting crystal choice for this month, and it really is a great representation of MoonBox's theme of Elevation. This stone’s earth energy helps to quell nerves and helps you to not focus on what you can’t control; it’s an awesome stone to help you overcome and grow from past frustrations and start fresh for the new year.

MoonBox by Gaia Collective Subscription Review January 2019 - Break your own geode 1 TopMoonBox by Gaia Collective Subscription Review January 2019 - Break your own geode 2 Top

Break your own geode - Give a good tap with a hammer or throw it at the ground and see what shine emerges!

At first glance, I thought why is there such a large, seemingly boring rock in here, and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that this is a DIY geode! On my first try, I threw this onto the cement, and it broke into a few pieces, showing off its clear, lustrous interior. I love the interactive aspect of this find and the suspense of not knowing what the interior will look like.

The Verdict: Gaia MoonBox's January theme of Elevation was on point for me; I am a Capricorn, so I was excited to see how this month’s theme would connect. I just turned 30, and elevated is an excellent word to describe how I am feeling (“thirty, flirty and thriving” as Jenna Rink from 13 Going on 30 would say). As for my favorites this month, I desperately needed a new incense tray and the lunar stages calendar is so cute and interesting to me, too. I always enjoy opening up a new Moonbox to see each month’s theme and to read the info provided by Gaia, which is always a fascinating read.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $34.00 + $2.00 shipping, which means that each of the 9 items in the box (counting each crystal individually & tea bags as one item) has an average cost of $4. I think that is a great price for what we received this month.

I loved this month’s box. This has to be one of my favorite moon/ crystal subs. The do it yourself geode was so special and the activity of breaking it open and the big reveal made it all feel very personal and super thoughtful. This box is so well curated and extremely informative. Great review.

Thank you! Did your geode look similar to mine?

I believe so. It was a clear crystal quartz.
