Fortune Cookie Soap “The Winds in the East” December 2018 Review
This box comes with a mini handbook detailing the products, how to use them, the unique scent, and ingredients. This month there were no listed prices, which was different. Luckily I am late with this review, so the collection has already been released on the Fortune Cookie Soap website and I can pull the values from there.
17 Cherry Tree Lane Candle – Retail Value $7.99
This is the first candle I have received from Fortune Cookie Soap, and I am really excited about it! This has a delightful scent blend of sweet cherries, cream, and vanilla oak, and I like that it is fruity without being too sweet.
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Hydrate Me – Retail Value $10.99
Hydrate Me’s are solid lotions that you apply in the shower to allow the steam to soften the coconut oil and shea butter and let it melt into your skin. This isn’t my favorite way to moisturize because I find the application to be a bit of a hassle. This has a scent blend of pound cake, buttercream, star fruit, and mango- in other words, it's sweet and now I am craving dessert.
Off We Go Bath and Shower Gel – Retail Value $10.99
I get so many soaps through subscription boxes that I almost never use shower gel anymore- luckily this formula also makes a great bubble bath that smelled divine! This scent is a blend of rose water, lemon bayberry, agave, and winter spice.
Well Begun is Half Done Linen Spray – Retail Value $10.99
I am a little bored with linen sprays (do you realize how much linen and how often I would have to spray this to use up a full bottle?), but I am in love with the scent of this one. It is a blend of balsam with notes of orange, grapefruit, cranberries, and a touch of sandalwood. It is a perfect marriage of the woody and the citrus scents I love, and I am going to be using this in my closet to keep my clothes smelling fresh.
Holly Joliday Bar Soap – Retail Value $6.99
This vegetable-based bar of soap is scented with frozen berries, sugar plum, fir, and clove. I find the scent to be refreshing, and this is the soap I am reaching for in the mornings when I am in the shower and half asleep.
The Magic Always Returns Sparkle Dust – Retail Value $9.99
This is new- my first unscented product from FCS! This is an ultra-fine glitter that can be layered over eyeshadow or worn on your collarbones to add some sparkle. The possibilities are endless, really, and a tiny bit goes a long way.
Rosy Cheeks Twinkle Tonic – Retail Value $15.99 (currently sold out)
This is another new product from FCS! These are exfoliating pads formulated with AHA’s to improve your skins texture and brighten skin. These are also lightly scented with notes of jasmine, lemon, and spearmint. Luckily the fragrance isn’t overpowering and these didn’t irritate my skin. I appreciate that the first ingredient on the list is aloe because when you’re working with acids in skincare you want to make sure you’re keeping your skin hydrated, too.
The Verdict: I thought this was a great sendoff box before Fortune Cookie Soap changes their subscription model. Several of the items were new products like the candle and the twinkle tonic, and things like the hydrate me and shower gel are fan favorites. This box is always a great value for the price, too, with a total value of $73.93. I enjoyed this box, but I am really excited for the new model.
To Wrap Up:
Can you get this box if you still sign up today? No. If you sign up today your first box will be the March box.
