BomiBox December 2018 Review
The combination of the cold weather outside and the blazing heat indoors can leave your skin dull, dry and flakey. This month’s box contains hydrating and exfoliating products to combat your winter skin woes:
BomiBox has detailed info cards for each box on their website. The info card provides a description of all the items included in the box and instructions on how to use them. This is great since a lot of the products have instructions that are not in English.
COSRX Aqua Facial Mist, 2.70 oz – Retail Value $13.20
This cooling aqua facial mist will keep your skin hydrated during the dry winter months. Use it as toner or an on-the-go refresher for smooth and soft skin. In the summer months, keep it refrigerated for sweet relief from the hot summer sun. It contains calming aloe and a bunch of fruit oils and extracts. The mist is ultra-fine so it probably wouldn’t disturb your make-up. But, I do wonder if a few sprays will give you enough product to actually make a difference. I did enjoy using this product and the slightly fruity smell was nice.
SOME BY MI AHA.BHA.PHA 30 Days Miracle Cleansing Bar – Retail Value $18.00
This cleansing bar exfoliates and massages dull dry skin to remove impurities, clear pores and get rid of dead skin cells. It can be used on your face or body daily or a few times a week for gentle exfoliation. It contains a boatload of tea tree, acids, and plant extracts to moisturize and brighten skin. I spent at least 20 minutes watching YouTube videos about this miracle soap and some of the transformations look too good to be true! Washing my face with the cleansing bar felt great. The soap had a very slight scent which was pleasant. Afterward, my face felt tingly. I can’t decide if this is the pleasant tingle you get when using shampoo with tea tree or skin irritation. My skin did feel very clean and soft. I’ll continue using it for a while and give you all an update in the comments down below.
Double Dare OMG! Hair Band, Sky Blue – Retail Value $8.00
This terry cloth headband can be used to keep hair out of your face or sweat from dripping down your skin. It’s super soft and very cute. But, honestly, I look ridiculous wearing it! I wouldn’t carry this to the gym or spa. My daughter, however, loves it! This headband belongs to her now.
Benton Tea Tree Cleansing Water, 1.01 oz – Estimated Retail Value $2.55 (buy 6.76 oz bottle here for $17.00)
This tea tree cleansing water can be used as a makeup remover or a simple and quick facial cleanser. It primarily contains tea tree leaf water that removes dirt and controls oil. I’ve enjoyed Benton products in previous BomiBoxes and this is no exception. It’s effective! When applied on my freshly cleansed face with a cotton ball, it lifted dirt that I didn’t think would be there. My only complaint is that this is a very small sample size and comes in a hard plastic bottle that makes getting the water out and on a cotton ball more difficult than it should be.
Tosowoong Blackhead & Sebum Out Nose Pack – Retail Value $2.68
Use these nose strips once a week to remove blackheads, cleanse and reduce the appearance of pores. It contains cool ingredients like lava clay, charcoal, and volcanic ash. Eight strips are included in the box. On a clean face and wet nose, I applied a nose strip and left it on until the strip was dry and stiff. My eyes have staged a full revolt against my contact lenses so I’ve been wearing my glasses more than usual. As a result, my nose is oily and the blackheads are out of control. I needed this product! Unfortunately, it didn’t work great for me. It removed the oil but my blackheads resisted.
Klavuu Nourishing Care Lip Sleeping Pack Mini, 3g – Estimated Value $3.12 (Buy 15g size here for $15.60)
Like the rest of our skin, lips can get very dry during the cold winter months. This mini lip treatment is intended to be applied to your lips and left on overnight for smooth, soft and hydrated lips. It also says it can be used throughout the day but it’s very thick and shiny so I wouldn’t recommend that. The ingredients sound great – a mix of avocado, almond and apricot oils. I used this as a lip treatment while using my sheet masks and it did leave my lips very soft.
It’s Skin The Fresh Mask Sheet – Avocado – Retail Value $2.00
It’s Skin The Fresh Mask Sheet – Tea Tree – Retail Value $2.00
The avocado mask is perfect for dry skin. This sheet mask contains a serum soaked with amino acids and 25 vitamins to nourish and moisturize your face. The tea tree mask is great for blemish-prone skin. This sheet mask contains serum for a clear and balanced complexion. To use, apply to cleansed skin for 15-20 minutes. I found the masks fit great but I don’t think it really did anything for my skin. It is however always a treat to spend 20 minutes with my feet kicked up doing absolutely nothing.
The Verdict: I have mix feelings about this BomiBox. I tried and enjoyed all the products. I liked the facial mist and sleeping lip mask the best and I can’t wait to see if I get “transformative results” with the miracle cleansing bar. My daughter won’t take off the headband! I do find it odd that a moisturizing cream or an exfoliating scrub wasn’t included considering the focus for this month’s box was hydration and exfoliation. Also, the two sample sized products were small samples, unlike the deluxe sample sizes I’ve come to expect with this box. I did, however, love all the tea tree products and the value of this box is on par with other recent boxes. This box cost $38.99 and has an estimated retail value of $51.55. I believe this is a fair value for the opportunity to try a wide range of Korean beauty products.
