The Holo Hookup December 2018 “Transitioning Into The New Year” - Information Sheet Top

This subscription does not traditionally come with an info sheet. However, since this month the theme was thermal polishes, we did receive a bit of information about thermal polishes in general and how to store them. I also am loving my holographic sticker!

We also received a free glass nail file as part of their Black Friday Promotion.

Cupcake Polish in Flash Forward, 15 mL – Estimated Value $13 (this is an exclusive shade made just for The Holo Hookup, but check out other holographic polishes from Cupcake Polish here)

For the second month in a row, Cupcake Polish made my favorite polish of the month! When cold this shade is a denim blue holo with lavender sparkle, and when warm this shade is a gorgeous sparkly turquoise. Two thin coats were perfect for this polish's consistency.

Different Dimension in New Beginning, 15 mL – Estimated Value $11 (this is an exclusive shade made just for The Holo Hookup, but check out other holographic polishes from Different Dimension here)

New Beginning is a golden peach nude holo when cold that transforms into a chartreuse lemon-lime when hot. This is sheer and needs three thin coats to build up, and it can be a little patchy so leave extra time to dry between coats.

Glisten & Glow in Times Are Changing, 15 mL – Estimated Value $12 (this is an exclusive shade made just for The Holo Hookup. Check out the other polishes offered by Glisten & Glow here)

This is a light black holo shade with purple and red shimmer when cold that transforms into a beige-y vanilla when hot. This also has small chameleon flakes that are extra noticeable when the polish is warm. Three thin coats were perfect for this polish.

Fancy Gloss in Turn Back Time, 15 mL – Estimated Value $9.50 (this is an exclusive shade made just for The Holo Hookup. Check out the other thermals offered by Fancy Gloss here)

This is a mauve pink shade when cold that transforms into a light sky blue when warm, and it has a scattered holo with turquoise shimmer. I think this is the most drastic color change out of the four thermal polishes this month, and I love how fun it is. This polish was a little too thick for my taste, but ultimately I was able to work with three thin coats (though in hindsight I should have just done two).

Here are the polishes fresh from being dipped into a mug of cold water. From top to bottom we have Times Are Changing, Turn Back Time, Flash Forward, and New Beginning.

And here are the polishes more in their natural state. I love how there is a natural ombre with the warmer shades close to my cuticles and the tips of my nails showing the colder shades.

Verdict: I don’t think I have ever had a bad box from The Holo Hookup, and this month that streak continued. While my favorite this month was Flash Forward, I enjoyed all of the polishes as thermals aren’t that easy to come across in mainstream beauty markets. This subscription is regularly $44 a month ($40 + $4 shipping), but this month shipping was free as part of the Black Friday deal. I think paying $10 each for quality thermal polishes is a good deal, and I look forward to seeing what 2019 holds for the Holo Hookup!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, this is now sold out. Check back here for when the January box goes on sale ( + they will be having a Black Friday Special!).

Value Breakdown: This box costs $40 + $4 shipping, which means that each of the 4 nail polishes in the box has an average cost of $11.

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

The Holo Hookup is my favorite review. Period. I really hope that they venture into gels. When they do, I’m definitely in.
