Limited-Edition Makeup Bag December 2018 - Retail Value $12.00

This coated makeup bag is lined and has a heavy duty zipper. I love anything with florals so the cheerful yellow tulips really speak to me.

Jelly Pong Pong Cosmetics Luna Light in "Rose Halo", 0.34 fl oz - Retail Value $19.00

The shimmer in this highlighter is very delicate and leans more of a purple than a rose. I found I most enjoyed this cream highlighter mixed in directly with my foundation, then applied with a brush for a super dewy glow. You can also use it alone to highlight any area of your face, or as an eyeshadow.

Trifle Cosmetics - Eye Candy in "Ganache", 3 g - Retail Value $14.00

This is a winter shadow pairing if I have ever seen one! The colors are so pigmented and rich and they slide onto my eyelid as smooth as a cream, with minimal fallout. I also used a wet brush and they both work beautifully wet and create a very soft eyeliner. The brown is more metallic than the black, but both have lots of depth and shimmer.

So Susan Cosmetics - Color Trip in "Playful", 2.3 g - Retail Value $18.00

I am not quite sure how I will use the pretty metallic reddish pink pigment, but I think I will pair it with a clear lipgloss for a metallic lip or even pat some on top of a gloss for that so trendy foiled holiday lip look. It could also likely be used carefully as a blush, but I am not about to test my skills in that way. Pigments can be a little loose and messy for someone with my skill set, but this color is too pretty not to experiment with!

BONUS: Jelly Pong Pong Cosmetics Morningstar Metallic Cream Highlighter Palette, 14 g - Retail Value $45.00

Wow! This bonus item is worth over double the cost of the whole month subscription! These colors are so pretty and unusual. It reminds me of the super hyped Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette, but in cream form and with deeper colors. They can also double as sheer eyeshadows. They are transparent but very reflective!

Verdict: This month's So Susan Color Curate bag has a value of about $108. That is more than great for a $21 subscription! The Morningstar palette was by far the most exciting item straight out of the bag, but I think my favorite item this month would be the eyeshadows. If you like super unique makeup that is all natural and cruelty-free, you will absolutely adore this subscription.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

OK, I realize that MSA needs to get in those $$$ affiliate links in, but that really is nothing like the Alchemist palette. The Alchemist palette has sheer whites that flash color only at certain angles.

These look like they actually have some pigment in them besides the iridescence. I’d compare that more to an Anastasia glow kit, like Moonchild.

My experience with Alchemist, at least when used on my eyes, is that it changes color. It goes on white and becomes more of the color it will be – blue, green, purple, pink. Could be a body chemistry thing.

The iridescence absolutely reminded me of the Alchemist palette, hence the linking. It has a very similar vibe to me. Admittedly I do not often use this type of highlighters so my experience is limited. I lean a little more natural makeup wise!

I love So Susan and have been subbed for a couple of years now. Their products are generally wonderful quality and different from the everyday. But…I’m getting bored. Too many of the same types of things – cream highlight quads, eyeshadow duos, pencil lipsticks and my least fave…lip scrubs. I might have to take a break from this one.

This was my first time with it, and the products are so cute! I could see needing to take a break if your kit is already full of similar products though.

Woohoo! Thank you so much for this review, Megan! I noticed Morningstar on their website a few months back, and kept hoping it would be in one of their bags, and I’m thrilled with that shade of loose pigment, too. A lot of folks use loose pigments and glitters on their nails, which I haven’t tried yet, but this will be the perfect time.

You are most welcome Kimberly! Thanks for the note on pigments, its super helpful. It is good to know there are more uses. The pigment can vary from bag to bag, so I hope you get this one!
