Norlii Scandinavian Home and Lifestyle Box November/December Review

Norlii comes with a couple of info cards. One just has a photo on one side and a short description with their website and hashtag on the other.

The box comes with a short pamphlet that talks about the theme which is "Hygge" and a brief overview of what's inside. Hygge is a Danish word that roughly translates to "coziness" which is a wonderful theme for November + December.

The inside and back of the pamphlet give further info on the included items.

Nordic Coal Mug by Broste Copenhagen - Retail Value $11.00

The first cozy item is a beautiful handmade mug from Copenhagen based ceramics brand, Broste. Its handle-less design encourages you to warm your hands while enjoying your favorite hot beverage. I like that it has a unique look since it isn't mass-produced in a uniform sense which means mine doesn't look like any other. The dark "coal" color is also pleasing to me. It holds quite a bit which should keep you stocked up on tea, coffee, or cocoa.

Nordic Coal Plate from Broste Copenhagen - Retail Value $15.00

They've also included a small oblong plate to give me a little matching set! This way, I can use it for a snack to accompany my warm beverage or simply to set my tea bag and spoon. It measures a little over 20cm long and has plenty of room for a pastry. Like the mug, this plate is unlike any other due to its handmade nature.

Here they are together!

Skandinavisk Flamma Mini Candle - Retail Value $22.90

I am a huge candle fan but getting them in sub boxes can be hit or miss since I'm picky about scents. I totally lucked out with this one though because it smells like a campfire which is one of my favorite smells on the planet! I seriously have never smelled a candle this wonderful and cozy. This one is a mini (with a 16 hour burn time), so I've put it in my bedroom to enjoy in the evenings, but I wish it was about 3 times larger. It also happens to look great and has a cute wooden lid. I definitely will be seeking this one out to buy again. If this is a smell that encapsulates Scandinavia, sign me up!

Nute Organic Loose Leaf Nordic Chai Tea - Retail Value $16.51 USD

The coziness keeps rolling with this large gorgeous birch cannister filled with Nordic Chai Tea from NuTe Organics. I love chai tea and this is a delightfully spicy blend of Assam tea, ginger, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, chili, and sea buckthorn.

They included four tea bags as well in case you're in need.

Ferm Living Fein Long Brass Spoon - Retail Value $9.55

I received a Ferm Living item in the last box and am once again stoked to see another this time. I'm familiar with their well-designed housewares and this long brass spoon is begging to be an accessory in an Instagram post. It also happens to be perfect for scooping out chai tea into a tea bag or stirring marshmallows around.

Beck Söndergaard Striped Sparkle Socks - Buy similar for $12.00

Yeahhhhh I'm obsessed with these socks. I just recently decided that I wanted to up my sock game because I've been seeing some special metallic and velvet ones in stores and these happened to arrive at my door. I love the thin cream and black stripes with the rainbow glitter toes, heels, and cuffs. One of my favorite pair of shoes is black with the sides cut out which are perfect for showcasing socks like these. The first day I wore them, I got so many compliments and felt really cool! If it's wrong to be pumped on a pair of socks, then I don't want to be right. These rule and I've already been looking them up online to buy more!

The Mallows Bianca Valentine's Rich Vanilla Marshmallows - Retail Value $10.50 USD

Although I love s'mores, I never eat marshmallows otherwise. That is, until now. These marshmallows are unlike any I've ever had. They seem dry and firm, but once you pop one of these handmade babies into your mouth, they get all chewy and just melt away into deliciousness. I am officially on the artisanal marshmallow bandwagon. I haven't yet put these into some cocoa which is absurd, but I've been popping them a few at a time as a sweet treat. I highly recommend seeking these out and they are yet another item from this box I'll be re-upping by any means necessary.

Here's a gang of the items from the box all working in harmony!

Verdict: I am over the moon about this installment of Norlii box! I think they curated this perfectly to fit the Winter vibes while including a lot of different items from food to clothing to housewares. Truly a wonderful box for a minimalist who is a fan of Scandinavian design! The seven items I received totaled about $97.46 which is a little over $20.00 more than the cost of the box. The best part though is that I didn't have to pay separate shipping costs for each since they would come from overseas and I also discovered new brands that I love!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Sign up by December 31st to get the January/February box (ships January 14th) as your first, but you can still buy this box at a higher cost as a one-time purchase here.

Value Breakdown: At $76.95 for this box ($69.95 + $7.00 shipping) here's how much you're paying for each item:

  • Mug: $8.69
  • Plate: $11.84
  • Candle: $18.08
  • Tea: $13.04
  • Spoon: $7.54
  • Socks: $9.47
  • Marshmallows: $8.29

Handle-less mugs already exist. They’re called tumblers.

I really love this box, especially the cup, plate and spoon. But to be honest, I don’t see myself subscribing to it because I want 4 cups/plates/spoons. One isn’t enough. Though bless you MSA for showing me this product. I’m looking on their website now. Thinking after the holidays I might just order those as a set.

Unfortunately, this box is no longer available as a one-time purchase either. I’m really sorry to have missed it because that cup and plate are totally my aesthetic, but maybe I can find a knockoff version at Ikea! Marne, I always enjoy your posts so much — you have such a distinctive, funny voice and I really appreciate the thoughtfulness that goes into your reviews.

Oh noes! I’m sorry you missed it! So far the first two shipments of this box have been solid. Maybe I can see if we can get some spoilers from them since there seems to be some interest! 🙂

There’s plenty of uses for a mug without handles. Mine from Margot Elena is already stocked with my finest makeup brushes. It looks gorgeous.

As far as using it as a mug, it helps warm the hands, as long as it’s not scalding hot, which one would not want to drink that hot, anyways. Maybe I’m alone in being just fine with a mug without handles. This set looks gorgeous.

OMG just add the handle to the mug…It’s not “minimalist” it’s “moronic”.

Thank you. 😉 I LOLed when I saw this. Currently enjoying some tea from a mug with an “inefficiently designed” handle.

Would love to have my hot cocoa in that mug while I watch “Vikings”. Loving this box.

Oh, how lucky to receive such lovely items to review, at no cost. 🙂 This is one of the best boxes around.

I like everything in this box. I probably would have signed up if I could have this as my first box. I find it odd that the box is still available but you can only get if you pay the higher price and can not start subscription with this box. Guess I will wait.

I agree! Plenty of people would start today after Marne’s lovely review and showcasing their beautiful curation.

I do not find a handle-less mug to be odd. This design is beautiful. Margot Elena sends out a handle-less mug in the winter box and you would think, based on the comments, that it was weirdest thing people had ever seen.

Anyone who wants to burn her fingers is welcome to these mugs.

Ummm…if the liquid inside the mug is hot enough to burn fingers through the mug, it certainly is going to burn your mouth….

There’s one coming in the next Globein box too. It’s trending lol

CrateChef had a beautiful handle-less teacup and saucer from Earthborn Pottery in their April/May 2017 box. Mine is blue/green. It didn’t strike me as odd back then either.

LB

LOL I was just going to comment that based on people’s reactions to the revelation of the one in the ME box and now them showing up in the Globein AND this box, some heads might be exploding. 😉

Candice

Love this box and I also really like that the values don’t seem overinflated. I’ll be keeping an eye on this one!
