Mini Mystery Box of Awesome November 2018 Review
Each month we get an advertisement card that includes a new contest for a pretty cool gift. This month, it’s a Google Home Hub! The back of the card also introduces a new way to snack through a monthly subscription; we started reviewing those last month, go check them out here!
We also get a monthly edition of The Regular which has all kinds of puzzles: word search, word fill in’s and connect the dots. This month’s theme is Fall.
The first item I received is this iPhone repair kit. The folks over at Daily Deal included a note that indicates that the hardware isn’t specifically for just iPhones. This repair kit can be used for any device, really.
The kit came with 3 screwdrivers, a suction cup, 2 plastic prying tools, and 2 picks. While I will not personally attempt to take apart my phone for fear of voiding the warranty, it’s a pretty neat thing to have laying around.
Especially the screwdrivers. We got a mini flathead, Phillips, and pozidriv. In my household, these will be the most used tools, probably for eyeglasses repair.
Snowflake Starlights – Retail Value $9.99
The next item I got in this month’s package was a promised 10 feet of snowflake lights. I was pretty excited about this item, it was the best item in the box in my opinion.
The lights took 3 AA batteries which I just sent my husband to the store for. I popped them in to see how they lit up hoping for white light snowflakes (I don’t particularly like yellow lights). But when I flipped the little switch from off to on, the lights didn’t work! I double checked the batteries, switched the batteries and nothing. I was disappointed because, as I said, this was the only item in the box that I really liked. We reached out to Customer Service and awaiting a response!
Pocket Bottles Water Bottle – Retail Value $6.99
The last and final item we received in this box is this foldable water bottle that is both dishwasher safe and freezer safe.
The bottle has a durable clip so that you can attach it to a bag or even a bike while spinning or out riding.
When filled, the water bottle will expand and stand on its own. It fills to hold 16.9 ounces of fluid! I thought this was a pretty cool item; my kids are still bickering who gets to claim it. I just wish it held a little more fluid, 20 – 25 ounces.
Verdict: Each Mini Mystery Box of Awesome is totally and completely random, I never know what I am going to get. Some months I love some things, others nothing. This month I felt it was a little more practical than previous months; every item would have been used if the lights weren’t broken. At least the screwdrivers from the phone repair kit and water bottle will get plenty of love.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? You can always sign up, but what you’ll get in your box is totally random!
Value Breakdown: This box cost $9.99, but I estimated that it had a combined total value of $18.38; that means you are paying approximately for the following:
- Phone Repair Kit – $0.73
- Snowflake Starlight – $5.43
- Water Bottle – $3.83
