Lip Monthly December 2018 Review

This month's theme is “Merry Christmas" and they included a note about the launch of their new website and their rewards program.

Each month, Lip Monthly sends their products in a little makeup bag. The bag is small, just a bit bigger than my iPhone plus (which doesn't fit inside) and has a soft material on the outside. I love that these bright red and purple florals give just a small nod to Christmas, but don't feel too seasonal that you couldn't use it all year long.

Sorme Lip Liner in Decaf 12 - Listed Value $13

I am always glad to see a lip liner in this bag because I've realized I don't have very many in my makeup collection at the moment. This one is a bit brown for me, but I think with some blending I could definitely make it work. This formula is said to be smearproof and contains hydrating lecithin and vitamins C & E and the square shape of this liner is meant to give you control. While I didn't find it to be incredibly long-wearing, I still think it is a nice shade that will blend well with almost any lipstick.

Here I have it on with just a bit of lip balm over the top.

Bellapierre Matte Mineral Lipstick in Incognito - Listed Value $20

This is not my shade at all, but this is a soft, velvety formula that goes on smoothly and is very matte in appearance. I didn't find it to be long lasting, although it did pass the drinking glass test. However, it was almost like my lips absorbed the color and it faded to a sheer tint.

It's not coming across quite as matte brown and chalky as it looks in person in these photos, but it's definitely not a shade I would wear by itself.

The shade is a tad orange for my skin tone, but I found that using the Sorme liner and adding some lip balm over the top changed the color a bit and made it wearable for me.

Laritzy Lip Stix in Plum - Retail Value $20

Now, this is a color I was excited about! This formula is paraben free and has a nice moisturizing finish. This is meant to be a two-in-one product that you can use as both a liner and lipstick and this will be going in my purse as my new everyday color. This one has a slight shine when you apply it, but it wore down to a nice stain that lasted quite awhile.

This actually worked really well as a liner and was very buildable as a lip color. I tried to go light here, but it can definitely become pretty dark with just a few swipes.

This is what it looks like after wearing it for a while. It definitely wears down to more of a stain, but I found that I could make the color pop again by just adding a swipe of lip balm.

Swatches from top to bottom, Lip liner, Laritzy Lip Stix, and Bellapierre lipstick.

Noyah Organic Lip Balm in Vanilla - Retail Value $ 3.99

This organic and natural lip balm is very moisturizing and has a light scent with a slightly sweet flavor. It contains coconut oil, beeswax, and olive oil, so I am hoping it will help with the chapped lips I get each winter. This is the lip balm I used with all of the other products in my photos and it helped to give them a nice glossy, moisturized finish.

Verdict:  Overall, I was happy with what I received this month from Lip Monthly and I thought that all of the shades were great once I figured out how to wear them. I like that they always send different types of products and that this month so many of them worked well together. My favorite is definitely the Laritzy Lip Stix and of course, you can't go wrong with lip balm in December. The total value of the items comes to $56.99 which is awesome for a $12.95 box. I feel like the lipsticks were a bit inflated in price, but this is still an average of $3.34 for each of the four products, which is a great value!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

Are colors randomly selected by LM or do subscribers have a say?

I’m considering their $5 offer.

UGH – avoid this company. I am STILL trying to either get my products OR a refund after PAYING FOR 6 months back in OCTOBER! I have received NOTHING but empty promises from customer service, and have been told they have a no refunds policy. How can that be, they can keep my money and never send anything?? I will be referring this issue to my credit card company. Super annoying.

I subscribed near the end of August. So I was charged then, I was again charged a week or two later, then I was charged again three weeks later, and then less than a month after that. All of this time and I had not received even one bag. When I did finally receive a response from CS (which was my third or fourth attempt and by then was simply to cancel) they told me they were sending out all of the bags I had paid for and that she could not understand why I had not been sent two of the bags but was sending them right out for me. When I did finally receive them (end of November, subscribed in August) , it was the most God awful products and colors. Bright orange lip liner with an ugly purple lipstick. Wth? I actually liked this December bag (compared to the others I received), fortunately it was my last bag.

I got that Laritzy Plum lip pencil in an Ipsy bag, & I was surprised how much I liked it! I also thought it seemed very buildable, which makes it a pretty versatile formula.

The only issue I had is that it doesn’t tell you that you have to sharpen it, not twist it up! I almost broke mine trying to see how it would go up, & had to look up online if it was able to be sharpened (since it’s plastic). I feel like brands need to be clearer about this in general!

I totally thought it was a twist up at first, too so I get what you mean!

Wow I think both lip colors look amazing on you!!

The incognito is a neutral everyday look and the brighter one makes your skin and eyes pop!

I’m so glad I let this subscription go. Always the same brands different shades. Well… actually extremely similar shades. Furthermore, they have the WORST customer service in the WORLD.

Same here! I tried this for ONE month ONLY because they had a half price promotion going on for that month, and NEVER again!!!! The products they sent me were horrible, besides one lip liner & that was NOT even full size. Other then that, horrible none brand name products. They sent me a hot pink lip stick in my November bag. First off, it took them 2 months to send my bag out, && who wears hot pink in November (or for that matter, at anytime). To make a long story short, I cancelled right after I received my bag! Never ever again! Good thing I only pay $7. And their customer service responds only through email which takes a few days…
