Bonjour Jolie December 2018 “Happy Holidays” Review
The theme for Bonjour Jolie is “Happy Holidays” and the whole box feels very festive. I love that they even printed the contents card on this fun shimmery paper!
Let’s start with the goods! All of your menstrual products will come in a discreet bag that fits in with the theme and this month we got this cute snowflake design.
When you sign up, you can choose up to 20 different menstrual products in any combination of tampons, pads, and liners. They offer a great selection of items from brands like Always, Kotex, and OB. You can check their selection out before you commit though, in case you are someone who has a preferred brand.
Tampax Pearl Lites (10)- Buy 36 for $6.99
Always Radiant Liners (3) – Buy 96 for $6.99
Always Ultra Thin Extra Heavy Overnight (7) – Buy 24 for $5.49
You can change your selections at any time by editing your profile, but keep in mind there might be a delay if you need to switch up your needs each month. The ability to switch it up is what I really like about this box and the fact that you can try new things without committing to an entire box of products. This month I received 10 tampons, 3 liners, and 7 pads.
Always Feminine Wipes in Fresh & Clean (2) – Buy 20 for $3.29
Cleansing cloths like these seem to be in every box which is nice because I have a great little stash for when I might need them.
Advil to Go Packs (2) – Buy 50 packets for $7.83
These little packets each have two pills, just enough to help with cramps or headaches while on the go.
This ornament and dreidel set were wrapped up together and I think it was great that they included both.
Hand Painted Wood Slice Ornament – Listed Value $10
At first, I was just excited to receive a cute, rustic handpainted ornament, and then I read on the information card that it was made by a disabled youth in partnership with Arc Gateway. How cool is that? It made this piece feel just a bit more special since it goes toward such a wonderful cause! It says that you can purchase these in their shop, but, unfortunately, there weren’t any available when I looked.
The Dreidel Company Dreidel Set – Listed Value $4.99 (Buy a 10 pack for $8.95)
I love that they included this Dreidel set. I am not familiar with the game at all, so I appreciated that they included a little instruction sheet along with our two pieces. This was definitely a unique and unexpected item in the box and I thought it was a fun idea!
Bonjour Jolie Peppermint Lip Balm – Retail Value $3.99
This vegan, gluten and cruelty-free lip balm is made with carnauba wax and shea butter and has a nice refreshing peppermint scent. It’s a perfect winter lip product and super cute with the red and white label.
Rosemary, Roses, and Mint Bath Salts Ornament – Listed Value $6.99
I think this is from LittlePartyDetails.com, but it’s almost impossible to read the tag since the glue on it covered some of the text. I wasn’t able to find this item online at all so I have to go by the listed value. This ornament is so cute and I love that you can see pieces of rose petals and rosemary inside along with the three different types of salt: Epsom, sea, and Dead Sea. There is also a little bit of jojoba oil in there to add some moisturizing properties. This is too cute not to gift, so I haven’t smelled it yet, but I’m sure it will smell as good as it looks!
Now, onto the edibles which came in this nice red bag.
Spangler Candy Canes (2) – Buy twelve 12-count boxes for $25.33
What holiday box would be complete without some candy canes? These traditional treats are kosher, gluten free, nut free and vegan!
Walker’s Shortbread Fingers 1 oz – Buy 15 for $11.99
I am not a big shortbread fan, but this fun plaid wrapper makes these a festive addition and it was a nice break from the candy.
I’m a little bit obsessed with these new Oreo candy bars, so I was excited to see the mint version in this box! I love the creamy texture with bits of crunchy cookies in the center and this mint version is a great twist on the original.
Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark (3) – Buy a 5.4 oz bag for $4.00
This is one of my favorite holiday treats so I was happy to see that they sent both the milk and dark chocolate versions of this! Yum!
Hannukah Gelt (Gold Chocolate Coins) – Listed Value $1
These chocolate coins will be great to use with our Dreidel game!
Land O’Lakes Hot Cocoa in Chocolate Supreme – Buy 36 for $24.78
Land O’Lakes Hot Cocoa in Mint – Buy 36 for $24.25
In lieu of tea this month, I received these two packets of hot cocoa, and this is one of my favorite brands so I am looking forward to getting cozy and enjoying a mug of it soon! You can’t go wrong with either of those flavors either.
Verdict: I am loving the way that each month’s Bonjour Jolie box revolves around a different theme and how fun the curation is! I think that this box had the potential to feel pretty Christmasy, but I thought they balanced it out with the inclusion of the Dreidel and gelt and by focusing more on winter items for the rest. There were a lot of great goodies and it’s such a nice way to combat those emotions that can come along at that time of the month! I also have to speak to their customer service since I had to contact them this month when my box got returned to them for some reason. They responded so quickly and had a new box shipped out to me within days after my having sent just one email to them! They definitely seem like a company that wants to cater to their customers with all of their customization options. We paid $24.48 ($16.50 + $0.99 tax + $6.99 shipping) for this month’s box and I estimate the total value of everything to be right around $35, which I think is definitely worth it since I am really enjoying the mix of fun items and getting items I need each month!
