MSA
ByMSADec 26, 2018 | 98 comments

The 2019 Beautylish Lucky Mystery Bags are available now! (FYI - updated the link, since it was redirecting on mobile.

There are four types of Lucky Bags available:

Original Lucky Bag ($75 for $150+ of products)
Lucky Bag XL ($150 for $350+ of products; available in the U.S. only)
Get One, Give One (buy one Original Lucky Bag at $150 and we’ll donate two more Lucky Bags to teens at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital)
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Lucky Bag ($75 for $150+ of JSC products)

Here are the full details:

1. What are Lucky Bags?
Lucky Bags are mystery bags of beauty products (plus extra surprises if you’re really lucky). This year, we’re offering four types of Lucky Bags:
• Original Lucky Bag ($75 for $150+ of products)
• Lucky Bag XL ($150 for $350+ of products; available in the U.S. only)
• Get One, Give One (buy one Original Lucky Bag at $150 and we’ll donate two more Lucky Bags to teens at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital)
• Jeffree Star Cosmetics Lucky Bag ($75 for $150+ of JSC products)

2. What is a Get One, Give One Lucky Bag?
This year, you can do good with your Lucky Bag purchase. If you buy a Get One, Give One Lucky Bag, you’ll receive one Lucky Bag for yourself, and a second will be donated to teens at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital. Even better, we’ll match every donation, so you’ll get to donate two Lucky Bags with your purchase.

3. What will I get in my Lucky Bag?
Lucky Bags are filled at random, so there’s no way to know what your bag will contain—it’s a surprise! Rest assured that your Lucky Bag will include $150 or more of products. All XL Lucky Bags will include $350+ worth of products.

4. Can I choose which products/brands I receive in my Lucky Bag?
Original and Lucky Bag XL are filled at random with products from various brands on Beautylish. Every Lucky Bag is a surprise—that’s part of the fun! Jeffree Star Cosmetics Lucky Bags are filled with Jeffree Star Cosmetics products only.

5. Will my Lucky Bag or Lucky Bag XL include products from Jeffree Star Cosmetics?
Lucky Bag and Lucky Bag XL may include Jeffree Star Cosmetics products. The Jeffree Star Cosmetics Lucky Bag will include only products from Jeffree Star Cosmetics.

6. Will my Lucky Bag include products that don’t normally ship to my country?
Your Lucky Bag will only contain products that are eligible to ship to your country. Our normal international shipping restrictions apply.

7. Will my Lucky Bag include products that work with the skin tone I choose?
Lucky Bags are filled at random (it’s part of the fun!), so we can’t guarantee the contents of your bag. However, we try our best to make sure that Fair-Medium Lucky Bags contain products that complement fair to medium skin. Dark-Deep Lucky Bags contain products that are better suited for deeper skin tones. We don’t include foundation or concealer in Lucky Bags.

8. Do Lucky Bags include gift cards? What happens if I lose my gift card?
Some extra-lucky Lucky Bags come with Beautylish gift cards. If you receive a gift card, treat it like cash—we’re unable to issue a credit should you lose it.

9. How many Lucky Bags can I purchase?
You can purchase one Lucky Bag every year. Please note that we limit one Lucky Bag per order, customer, shipping address, and payment method.

10. When will I be charged for my Lucky Bag?
You will be charged right after you place your Lucky Bag order.

11. Can I use Flexible Payments to pay for my Lucky Bag?
Sorry, Lucky Bags are not eligible for Flexible Payments at this time.

12. Can I purchase a Lucky Bag if I have an open Flexible Payments order?
Yes. However, if you have a past-due payment on an open Flexible Payments order, you will not be able to order a Lucky Bag.

13. Can I return or exchange my Lucky Bag?
All Lucky Bag sales are final, so they’re not eligible for refunds, returns, or exchanges.

14. Do I have to pay for shipping?
We charge a flat-rate shipping fee for Lucky Bag, Lucky Bag XL, and Jeffree Star Cosmetics Lucky Bag. This allows us to include more products in each Lucky Bag while keeping the price below retail value. The shipping fee varies by destination:
• United States: $10 for original Lucky Bag; $15 for Lucky Bag XL
• Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK, Germany & France: $15
• Everywhere else*: $20
Shipping is free for all Get One, Give One Lucky Bags.
*Lucky Bags are not available in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Thailand at this time.

15. When will I receive my Lucky Bag?
Lucky Bags ship on or before January 21, 2019. Shipping times vary by location. The estimated date of delivery will be displayed during checkout. We ship via economy service so that we can keep costs low and include more products in your Lucky Bag. International orders may be subject to customs clearance procedures, which may cause further delays.

16. Can I order other items with my Lucky Bag?
Lucky Bags must be purchased on their own, but feel free to place a separate order for any other items you need.

17. I live in California, Pennsylvania, or Texas. Will I be charged sales tax?
Yes, Lucky Bag orders shipped within California, Pennsylvania, and Texas will be charged applicable sales tax.

18. I live outside the U.S. Why can’t I order a Lucky Bag XL?
Due to shipping restrictions, the Lucky Bag XL is only available within the United States.

19. I live outside the U.S. How do duties and tax work?
You will be charged duties and tax at checkout. Duties and tax are calculated based on the subtotal of your Lucky Bag.

20. Do you ship to my country?
We ship Lucky Bags to all countries listed here except for India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. Please note that Lucky Bag XL is only available within the United States.

are these only available once a year? I have seen so many items listed for swapping and would love to get one of these!

Grace

I got the XL with:

Natasha Denona Lila Palette $129
Viseart Theory Highlighter, Blush, & Bronzer 02 Ablaze $45
Becca Create Your Own Light Set $69/Value $144
Backlight Priming Filter (1 oz) $38
Luminous Blush in Snapdragon (.21 oz) $34
Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid in Opal (0.68 oz) $19
Shimmering Skin Perfector Slimlight in Champagne Pop (.06 oz) $28
Beach Tint in Fig (0.24 oz) $25
Rae Morris Jishaku 7.1 Deluxe Creme Shader Brush $60
Lashes in a Box E5 $40
Boscia Charcoal Pore Minimizing Bio-Cellulose Mask $8
Good Molecules Wake Up Eye Serum (1 oz) $+

I paid $177.75 after tax/shipping. Retail Value was $351-$426 not including the Good Molecules serum. I love the Lila Palette and the Viseart palette is really pretty. The only misses are the Becca primer and 2 highlighters. I’ll use the primer, but highlighters, I only use once in a blue moon. Overall pretty happy with my bag.

I got a regular bag – my first time doing the Lucky Bag

I received:

Becca Glam on the Glow – Moonshine $20
Viseart Theory – Siren $45
Avene Hydrance Rich Hydrating – $32 (great for my Tazorac use)
Wayne Goss #10 brush $38
Jouer Best of Nudes – $34
Good Molecules Wakeup Eye – ??

so $169 + the unknown price of the Good Molecules – not bad

The Becca is going up for swap (I am 62 and highlighting is not my preference) and the
WG brush as well (I use cream, gel or liquid blush)

All in all I am happy and look forward to next year !

Anne

I got this same box and love it!!! I do use highlighters and have a whole drawer of them, but I don’t have this one. I do like the Becca highlighters. Thanks for sharing and I am impressed with the value!

Reply ButtonReply

Anne

Oh I also got a $20 gift card!

Mish

Wow, I just got my regular box. It feels so exciting.

I received

Wake Up eye serum
Charlotte Tilbury bar of gold palette (gorgeous!)

I’m super impressed! Hope everyone else is enjoying their package.

mish

Linda

I got in my regular bag
Natasha Denona Camel palette
Sonia G blender pro brush
Jouer best of lip toppers
Cover FX shimmer veil in magic
Good molecules eye serum
Origen Mystify restyling spray
Not too bad. Better than last year, not in money value, but in things I will use. I am keeping everything. This is my second year and I am not sure if I will do it next year. I think there are other mystery bags I will enjoy more. The lip toppers are fun. They smell like cake batter. I have been wanting to try Natasha Denona. I will sign up for early access and decide later. It may depend on how much I have already spent by December 26.
From watching unboxing I think the overall value is down. Especially for the XL boxes. It seems last year there were more super lucky bags that were way over the promised value.

I got my regular bag! I love Lucky Bags. One question: didn’t the items used to be individually wrapped in paper or am I remembering wrong?

Since we’re listing what we got, here is what I have. I’m quite pleased with it! I went searching for this post to see what the promised value was and I’m way over, so that’s good.

Viseart Tryst Palette $48
Wayne Goss #19 brush $23
Oribe Gold Dust hair oil $38
VDL cushion primer $40
Good Molecules eye serum (new product, so no RV listed, I’m guessing $50?)
Sugarpill liquid lip in Trinket $18

A total of $167 NOT including the eye serum! I’m guessing a $200 value. I put the Sugarpill product up for swap but I think I’m keeping the rest. I’m very interested in swapping for the Natasha Denona cranberry palette or the ABH Soft Glam palette, as well as the Wayne Goss blush brush. If you have these things, please click on my name!

Reply ButtonReply

Svetlana7e

For my regular lucky bag I got:
Wayne Goss brush (dont remember #, but it is more blush/contour brush)
Bioderma Sensibio H20
Anastasia of BH Subculture palette
Good Molecules Wake Up Eye Serum
R+Co Crown Scalp Scrub
Viseart Shadow Palette in Amethyst
R+Co canvas bag.

I am happy with the bag, but biggest disappointment was ABH Subculture, because I bought it in December from TJMax. I wish I got different ABH palette. If anyone wants to trade, please let me know.

I received my XL bag today and I’m pretty happy with it. Here’s what I got

Good molecules Serum
Rae Morris invisible mattifier
VDL Lumilayer metal cushion primer
By Terry Brightening CC Serum in White Rose
Stila iridescent Liquid eye set
Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look Palette Smokey Eye
Oribe Mystify Restyling spray (travel size)
Sonia G Worker one brush

I may put the primer, brush and Stila eye set up for swap–I already have a similar brush and the eye colors may repeat what I already have.

Katy

Here’s what I received in my XL bag: Natasha Denona Sunset Palette $129, Rae Morris Mini Kabuki Brush $68 (um what?!), Farmacy Clean Bee Facial Cleanser $28, Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder $46, By Terry Terribly Velvet Rouge Liquid Lipstick in 1-Lady Bare $47, Oribe Gold Lust Hair Oil $38, and Good molecules Wake Up Eye Serum $???

I’m pretty excited about everything, but the Oribe Oil

Meredith

I’m really happy with my box. I got the regular box and inside were bioderma micellar water (which I know a lot of people got in previous boxes but I’ve never tried it), Viseart theory palette in Absinthe, Charlotte Tilbury gold bar palette, Sonia G pro blending brush, the new molecule eye serum (I think everyone got that, but I’m excited to test it out) and a box of Becca Products (shimmer stick, blur primer, tinted blush and lip, blush, and shimmering skin perfecter)!

Reply ButtonReply

mish

I got this same one. I was really happy!

Reply ButtonReply

Julie

I got a Natasha Denona cranberry palette, R+Co scalp scrub, Oribe gold dust dry shampoo, Wayne Gross 17 brush, Jouer best of Nudes lip collection, and eye serum. I don’t use hair products so was disappointed about the two items I won’t use, but otherwise fairly happy. It’s difficult to watch unboxing of bags I would have liked more, but such is the case with mystery bags.

Reply ButtonReply

Jean

I got the same as Julie except for the Wayne Goss brush-mine was the #18. This was the regular sized bag. I was disappointed in Beautylish for selling out in less than a minute and in comparison to last years bag this bag has nothing I will use. They have lost a good customer in me because I had read this blog & found throughout the day that they had the XL bags back a few times. I had sent a message to them and you would have thought they could have held onto the bags for the people that complained about how quickly they sold out and given them the opportunity to purchase the larger & just charging our cc cards for the difference. I spent well over $2,000 with them last year and this year they will not see one cent from me. Then to hear in this blog that you didn’t have to be a high spender to receive the code for the bags was another insult to injury I am afraid. If that is what they think of their loyal customers, good luck to them. There are plenty of people in the business like Saks & Bloomingdales whom have great employees willing to send great samples all year round to good customers. I will shop with those people who enjoy treating their customers with good service. Sorry Beautylish-you blew it big time!

ME

Great bag – was that an XL or Regular?

Reply ButtonReply

Julie

Regular

Apricot

The Natasha Denona cranberry palette is really pretty and WG brushes are really good. My Lucky bag was similar. I got:

Natasha Denona Camel palette – Solid.
Sonia G Blender Pro brush – Love! It really does blend like a dream, I get it now.
Oribe Mystify Restyling Spray, travel size – I’ll try it.
Jouer Best of Lip Toppers Mini Gift Set – Very pretty
Cover FX Shimmer Veil in magic – At first, I was disappointed because I have a different color but its actually really pretty on so ok. 🙂
Good Molecules eye serum – It has some less than stellar ingredients but I’ll probably still try it.

Overall, I’m happy, glad to have done it at least once. I really love the brush so that was a nice discovery and I will use it all the time.

Lori

You guys, mine came today and I’m soooo disappointed! I saw a few unboxing videos and would have been happy with all of what I saw, but I got a Viseart palette of warm shadows and a Jouer Best of Nudes lip creme collection. Both products look very nice, but the worst colors for me. I guess that’s the luck of the draw. Here’s hoping you all are happy with yours!

Reply ButtonReply

ME

That’s a shame – I hope you can trade at least.

Reply ButtonReply

Lori

Thank you! I’m waiting to get on the swap site 🙂

Stacey

Hi! Just got my regular lucky bag. Does anyone want to know? My first time and I’m not a makeup guru but I thought I’d try the lucky bag. I will use everything in it so happy about it.

Reply ButtonReply

Lynne

My lucky bag XL is set to arrive next Thursday. I checked tracking and it says 2.3 pounds. Hmmm. My guess is makeup mostly and less skin care. Anyone else get a vibe on the shipping weight ?

Reply ButtonReply

Katy

My shipping said my XL box weighs 2.6 pounds. No clue what that means, but I have been watching the YouTube videos for people who have already received theirs and am loving it! I would be thrilled to get those products.

Reply ButtonReply

ME

Tried posting a link but that didn’t work. If you’re curious (and I was) there are a couple of unboxing videos out there. One was an XL box on steroids (great box) but all the ones I’ve seen so far are mostly makeup/hair with one common skin care item.

I am far too excited about my box and will be counting days….

Reply ButtonReply

Lynne

OMG. I will search youtube and see what I can find. I am also way too excited over this. Last year I got some pretty cool stuff in the small box.

Alison

Mine says 1.6….

Bella01

I received my LUCKY BAG today. Omg…omg….omg…I am one lucky girl. Thank you so much Nil…..I love you Beautylish

Lori

Yes, do tell! 😀

Mary-Ellen

ooh what did you get?

Reply ButtonReply

Apricot

Oh, yay!! Happy for you! Here’s hoping we all love our bags, can’t wait!!

Reply ButtonReply

Katy

My tracking email came last night and the anticipation is killing me, eek!!!!

Reply ButtonReply

Apricot

I’m excited too! Mine is supposed to arrive Monday!

Reply ButtonReply

Julie

Me too, arriving Monday. I’m hoping for a Natasha Denona or Viseart palette. Wish these Lucky Bags weren’t just once a year.

Jill M

Ok ..so I know that Juno & Co products don’t compare to these, but I just thought I would mention that they have a Lucky Box out right now that is $25 for up to $100 worth of products. If you are a first time customer you can sign up and get 20% off so it’s only $20 with free shipping over anything $15!!! I think it’s was a great deal and I grabbed one! They ask your skin tone too

Reply ButtonReply

Jean

Very disappointed in Beautylish this year. I spent well over $1000 throughout the year, got my early notice and in less than a moment as I clicked order it was sold out. Emailed and was told they sold within a minute. Sorry but if a company hypes up an item like this they should have enough to go around. The bags are randomly made so what did they do? Deplete their store?
Will think twice before I buy from them again. That is not how a good store should handle their customers!

Reply ButtonReply

Connie

I was ready right at 9 and xl already sold out. I emailed them to see if some purchases do not go thru if there was a chance to upgrade my regular to xl. There isn’t but I was told it was crazy and they sold out of xl bags in 1 minute. I am still happy to have at least have purchased a regular bag.

Reply ButtonReply

Lisa

I wonder how many people bought the BOGO by mistake. Comments should be interesting when people get 1 regular bag.

Reply ButtonReply

Nan

I got the xl bag. You need to have your info already in there and click on the link as soon as you receive it and buy it without hesitation. I finished all those step in 30 secs.

Reply ButtonReply

L

I think I went through it in thirty seconds and I still didn’t get it. I got up to the very last screen.

Reply ButtonReply

TNTriathlete

I had all my info entered ahead of time, I got to the last screen in under fifteen seconds and still did not get one. Very disappointed. It is only makeup but I really wanted an XL bag!

Tanya

Same here I was done in under 30 seconds.

Reply ButtonReply

Bella01

They just restocked XL bags

Reply ButtonReply

Bella01

The above link says sold old on XL but if you go to your email and click the link Beautylish sent you, they restocked. FYI

Reply ButtonReply

Bella01

Sold out.

Marie

XL was sold out when I got my early access link but I snagged a regular one.

Reply ButtonReply

rebeccad

I clicked on the link in my e-mail the SECOND it came through and I had my address and payment information pre-entered on the Beautylish site. I put the XL bag in my cart and when I checked out it said they were sold out. So disappointed. I could not have done it all any faster. I managed to get a regular bag and I am happy about that (it is only makeup, after all!) I don’t understand how some people scored the XL bags unless my internet connection is just too slow (I have satellite). Then because I was getting the Lucky bag one of the items I really wanted in the FFF edit sale sold out. Why did they have to start at the same time? I think I may have a shopping problem. 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Apricot

Same happened to me, was able to put the XL in my cart and check out with saved info and poof, sold out. Oh well, the regular one is better for my pocketbook and I don’t really actually even need anything. Here’s hoping we get lucky!

Reply ButtonReply

Svetlana7e

They have “prime members” – people who spent $1000 during the year, they had access to bags before anyone else, that’s why all XL bags are sold out. Last year was same thing.

Reply ButtonReply

Sharon

I’m not a prime member and it was available when I clicked on it. But I instantly had buyers remorse so I backed up and got the $75 bag instead.

rebeccad

But a poster here said they got one and they were not one of the “prime” members. So some were able to get them.

Katy

I somehow managed to snag an XL Lucky Bag! I have no idea how that happened, since I most certainly did not spend anywhere near $1000 on Beautylish this year. Hope everyone who managed to get a bag has amazing luck with their products!

Reply ButtonReply

ME

Same here – I’ve been hoping for the XL for last 2 years! So stoked 🙂 I went in the second I received the link and snagged one. By the time I checked out and went back in they were sold out.

Reply ButtonReply

rebeccad

I’m so jealous! (But happy for you!) Read my comment to see how hard I tried!

Reply ButtonReply

Amarante

Yeah I was stunned that I snagged one this year. So shocked that I didn’t actually believe it until I got the confirmation email from Beautylish.

Last year I logged in for the early but not early early access and the XL were sold out.

It reminded me of when I managed to snag tickets to the Springsteen solo concert at a small venue. Not only did I get the tickets but they were in the sixth row and I was surrounded by celebrities who I am absolutely sure got their prime seats through connections. 😂
