The Mr. Collection Clothing Rental Review + Coupon – November 2018
The Mr. Collection is a monthly clothing rental subscription for men. Your stylist puts a pack together based on your style profile and you keep it for as long as you like. When you are done wearing those pieces you send them back in the included pre-paid envelope. You have the option of buying any item at a special member discount price just in case you can’t bear to part with it.
This is the review for The Mr. Collection Premium Once a Month plan, which sends 4 items for $69 per month (plus free shipping). Each pack includes 3-4 pieces of quality, designer, casual clothing for your everyday look. When you sign up, you answer questions about your style (size, colors, patterns, clothing type, etc.). An actual stylist puts your pack together so, even though your pieces are a surprise, they should work for you. You can leave feedback for your stylist to help make your next pack even better.
This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The Mr. Collection November 2018 Review
This month, John’s stylist included a pair of jeans (from John’s favorite pants brand) and three tops to pair with them. She wanted him to have outfits that would be comfortable enough for every day but look nice enough to go out in as well.
The info card includes a handwritten note Lili, John’s stylist this month, and some information about how the subscription works. There is also an invoice that shows the member price for each item in case he wanted to purchase anything.
PX Terry Long Sleeve Button Down in Burgundy, L – Retail Value $60, Member Price $48
This is the ultimate casual shirt for John! I love the color on him. The 100% cotton has a herringbone texture that gives it some dimension and means it’s soft and breathable. Since John isn’t motivated to iron anything, it’s great that this shirt looks fine with a few wrinkles. The cuffs and collar have chambray details and the chest pocket has a pen slot.
Mavi Jeans Jake Slim Leg in Rinse Brushed Williamsburg, 34×30 – Retail Value $98, Member Price $78.40
John has tried on several pairs of Mavi pants now and really likes them. They are comfortable and fit him well. The denim on this pair is a cotton/poly mix with 1% elastane so they stretch just enough to be comfortable. I like the clean, dark wash and they look great paired with a dressier shirt or a casual tee. John doesn’t go for slim or skinny, but these work really well for him. And, they are the right length. Yay!
The Normal Brand Puremeso Raglan Henley in Green Gables, L – Retail Value $58, Member Price $52.20
Oooo…I like this too! This is a great example of a casual shirt that can be worn as it is or dressed up by layering a long sleeve button up or a jacket. John prefers when pieces can be worn multiple ways so he can wear his favorite things more often. But, really…the color is what gets me. I love him in teals! This henley has a nice weight and some quality details like a contrasting piping inside of the neckline and an extra panel of fabric behind the buttons.
Looks like we have ourselves a little photobomber!
United by Blue Norde Long Sleeve Button Down, L – Retail Value $78, Member Price $62.40
Well, this is the winner for John. Why? Because it has buffalo on it. I have to say, I like it too. 🙂 The fabric has a linen-like feel and is made from hemp, recycled polyester, and a touch of spandex (technically it’s a 4.7oz chambray slub). It looks so good with the Mavi jeans but also works well with navy or burgundy pants for more color.
Each pack includes a pre-paid return envelope. When you are done with your pieces, just pop them in here and drop it off at the post office. The Mr. Collection will process your return and you’ll be ready to go for your next pack. (If you are purchasing anything, just leave them out of your return package.)
A note about cleaning: You don’t have to clean the pieces before sending them back. The Mr. Collection has everything cleaned once the pieces are returned. I didn’t notice any smell (including fragranced detergent which is good for those with sensitive skin), stains, or signs of wear. Actually, everything was in pristine condition!
The Verdict: John’s pack this month could not have been better for him! The colors, prints, and fabrics were all fantastic and John wanted to keep everything. I really like that he gets to experience good quality clothing – the way they fit and feel makes a huge difference. He enjoys having styles he likes show up every month without having to go shopping. This pack had a retail value of $294, and for a cost of $69 with free shipping, I think it is a great deal. Plus, The Mr. Collection customer service is fantastic! The stylists are eager to help and I encourage any subscriber to reach out if you have any questions.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? The Mr. Collection picks clothing for you based on your style preferences so your pack will be different than John’s. Sign up and see what they choose for you!
Value Breakdown: Since this is a clothing rental service, the value really comes from being able to change up and try new, styled looks every month. Since there is no way John would spend this amount to buy clothes at this retail value for himself, it’s great for him to be able to wear high-end clothing for a flat rate. There is always the option to buy an item for a discounted price if you love it. Basically here is what he paid to rent each item for the month (based on retail price):
- PX Terry Long Sleeve Button Down – $14.08
- Mavi Jeans – $23
- The Normal Brand Henley – $13.61
- United by Blue Long Sleeve Button Down – $18.31
