Target Treat Your Skin Holiday Beauty Box Review

Target Treat - Bliss

Bliss Makeup Melt Jelly Cleanser, 2 oz – Estimated Value $3.12 (buy the full-size version for $9.99)

I have really been digging bliss skincare lately, so I was stoked to try out this cleanser. It was super gentle and it left my face feeling clean but not dried out. My favorite part is that this can be used as a makeup remover too- if you apply it to dry skin it can remove your makeup + cleanse, and if you’re not wearing makeup just apply it to a wet face. I love products that multi-task!

Target Treat - Lumene

Lumene VALO Glow Boost Essence, 0.5 oz – Retail Value $12.99

This Vitamin C essence is worth almost the cost of the entire box! It has two forms of Vitamin C thanks to the wild arctic cloudberry, and it also has two types of hyaluronic acid. This had a light citrus scent that I found pleasant, but the scent did fade quickly if that’s not your thing. I used this in the morning under my moisturizer, and I was happy that it absorbed quickly without leaving my face sticky.

Target Treat - Lip Mask 1

Target Treat - Lip Mask 2

Burt’s Bees Lip Mask – Retail Value $2.52

This was an interesting lip mask! I am used to lip masks that are hydrogels, but this mask is like a sheet mask in the shape of your lips. I love that this only needs to be worn for 5 minutes- a lot of other lip masks want you to wear it for at least 20 minutes, and that gets awkward fast. This was hydrating and would be a good mask to wear before applying lipstick.

Target Treat - Retinol 1

Target Treat - Retinol 2

La Roche-Posay Redermic R, 0.17 oz – Estimated Value $9.69 (buy the full-size version for $56.99)

So this is the retinol I mentioned earlier. I have never really used retinol on my skin, so I was excited to give it a shot. Even though retinol is great for wrinkles, this is also supposed to help with smoothing skin texture and evening skin tone. What was a weird experience for me was that this had an almost chemical smell? The smell reminded me of the nail shop when I am getting an acrylic fill. The scent faded quickly and the cream didn’t irritate my skin. Make sure to apply this at night and use a sunscreen in the morning, however, because you’ll be extra sensitive to the sun.

Target Treat - Tension Cream

Make P:rem Micro Tension Moisturizing Cream, 0.35 oz – Estimated Value $4.79 (buy the full-size version for $29.99)

When I sat down to do this review I learned that this moisturizing cream had Vitamin C, and I used it last night right after my retinol. Thankfully, this Paula’s Choice article says that it is a myth that Vitamin C and retinol cannot be used together. This moisturizer absorbed into my skin quickly was very hydrating - it was a good finishing moisturizer all of my lotions, potions, and retinol because it wasn't too heavy.

The Verdict: I loved this box! Every single product was new to me, which is a rarity nowadays. My two favorites out of this box are the Lumene essence and bliss cleanser, and I like this entire set could be stored in a makeup bag and be an entire skincare routine that’s compact enough for travel. Value-wise, I calculated a value of $33.11. That is a little below the promised value of $35, but I say it’s close enough.

The Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you sign up today? Yes, this box is still available, and there are several other Holiday Target Beauty boxes available here too!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $14.99 with free shipping and had a total retail value of $33.11. That means you are paying approximately the following per item:

  • Bliss Cleanser: $1.41
  • Lumene Essence: $5.88
  • Burt’s Bees Mask: $1.14
  • La Roche-Posay Retinol: $4.38
  • Make P:rem Moisturizer: $2.17

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

I use retinol and Vitamin C (MAP) nightly in the form of my Curology bottle -that I learned about on MSA and that is the one subscription that you’ll have to pry from my cold dead hands before I ever give it up…so you’re skin is safe Jessica! And nice job not only reviewing but educating. I always enjoy your reviews and the humor you instill in them.

What doesn’t make sense to me is you are not suppose to use Vit C and retinol at the same time or in the same day 1 or the other they make eachother ineffective
