Velcro Wallet

Ahh, we are starting with the ultimate throw-back: Velcro wallets with the photo sleeve! Velcro wallets were the wallet of choice when I was younger, but since then I have graduated to bigger wallets to contain all of my necessities. This would be useful if you only have an id and debit card, but any more than that and there aren’t enough card slots. I will probably pass this along to my younger cousins who don’t have a full cache of cards to lug around, and I love the photo sleeve this came with—I haven’t seen them in a while, and it hits me in the feels when I remember how my mom kept her wallet full of pictures of my sister and me in those sleeves!

Retro Buttons

I am loving that there is a continued theme of the throwback D-Back team colors! I became a big fan when I was 12, and by then they had just switched over to their current Sedona red uniforms. Since I am missing out on a cache of the original designs, I am happy that Sports Crate is supplementing. These would be perfect for decking out my cooler or backpack, but I think I am actually going to save them for a project I am working on involving some of my favorite photos and a corkboard!

Insulated Cooler

This cooler is so cool—literally, if my dad were still with us, I could see myself calling him up and telling him about the insulated cooler I received that was in the old team colors that we both loved. I love the bright pops of teal from the sides, and this is the perfect size to carry a six-pack or my famous salsa while keeping it cool. This isn't super heavy-duty, but it should actually work perfectly for my portable cooling needs.

Raglan Shirt - Estimated Value $19.99 (based on other raglan tees by Sports Crate)

I love the idea of a raglan shirt, as it is the typical baseball-cut in my mind. I don’t love that this is in the Sedona red rather than the throwback teal and purple, which I would have much preferred. I find the font to be extremely hard to read, and I have concerns that when I wash this the red applique will bleed over the white tee. That aside, this shirt is actually really comfortable, and I like that the bottom corner has the DBacks Logo.

The Verdict: I really enjoyed the throwback theme of this crate, but I am quite bummed that the shirt didn't have the throwback colors like the rest of the items. All of the items were exclusively from Sports Crate this month. Because of this, I couldn't accurately estimate the values for anything except the shirt. I would believe you if the total retail value for the wallet, buttons, and the cooler was $30, and that combined with the shirt meets the promised retail value of $50. Regardless, I think getting a new team shirt and other officially licensed team-branded items for $29.99 is a good deal, but you need to be aware of the wait associated with subscribing.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? I am not positive but I think they are still shipping the Throwback crates!

Value Breakdown: This box costs $29.99 + free shipping, which means that each of the 4 items in the box has an average cost of $7.50.

I am tempted to get me or my husband an MLB box sub since baseball is officially over. We always feel a little adrift after The World Series ends. We watch almost every Braves game, our team, through our MLB subscription online.

Now we wait till the news “pitchers and catchers report,” comes on Feb 14th, Valentine’s Day is not the holiday we celebrate in our house!

This box may just fill the void.
