Typically, there is an insert explaining the special item that 1 lucky subscriber will get – but this month I noticed that there was nothing included in the box except for the items. No additional inserts of any type were included.
2019 Window to the World Wall Calendar – Retail Value $17.99 (found here for $12.18)
It looks like this wall calendar is sold at most major retailers. The photography is lovely, and the calendar is huge at 17” wide and 14” high. The dates are rather small and at the bottom of the page, so as to not distract from the window imagery. I think this calendar is perfect for a dorm room so I think I’m going to pass it along to my college-aged cousin to enjoy – I mean a window overlooking Paris in February is better than the Pittsburgh winter, right?
Waterproof Picnic Blanket – Estimated Value $20?
As a mother to a toddler, I can never have too many picnic blankets on hand (especially since I recently learned that I'm allergic to grass!) This blanket is about 4 feet by 5 feet and features blue fleece on one side and waterproof black vinyl on the other. It folds compactly and has carrying handles and even a picket on the side. I couldn't find this exact model online, but similar items seem to be listed for around $20 on a variety of different websites. There is no tag or marking on this blanket that I could find to indicate the manufacturer.
Starplast Storage Organizer Box – Estimated Value $13? (Based on a similar item here)
Although the image on the front shows hardware, I think I am going to use this box for craft storage. Measuring about 14” x 11” x 2” there are lots of little notions that I can store neatly in this case. I’m a container store junkie, so I always appreciate getting storage and organizational items and feel you can never have too many!
Meridian Point Rolling Ab Wheel – Estimated Value $12? (Based on a similar item here)
So, admittedly I don’t have a core of steel, and I don’t really do a tone of ab workouts, but I don't care for ab rollers. This will end up in my yard sale pile, for sure. If it’s your thing though, I’m sure you’ll be excited to get it - it’s just not my cup of tea.
Meridian Point 6-in-1 Camping Multi-Tool – Retail Value $7.50
This is a nifty item that even comes in its own tin should you decide to gift it. This swiss-army style tool features a bottle opener, knife, spoon, fork, corkscrew, and can opener. I often travel for work and think this would be handy to keep in my suitcase. The fork and spoon even detach!
The Verdict: This box is fun, and it’s hard to be disappointed because they [smartly] make no promises on what is going to be included in this random box of stuff. Can it feel a bit like you went to a yard sale with cash in hand after too much coffee? Sure. But all in all, I think 3 of the 5 items are totally usable, and I can gift the calendar. The only miss for me is the ab roller. I think the value is fair, I don’t feel ripped off, but I also don’t feel like any particular item is a standout.
