Margot Elena Discovery Box Winter 2018 – Spoiler #2!

Ok, thanks! I’ve never bought this box but looking at the past reviews, it seems like it might be right for me.

Yes – the honeycomb luminary. 🙂 I think that might have been the first non-travel candle included in a box (the first box had gin & rosewater travel candle, and was it the third? that had the rosemary spearmint travel candle)

Her general total box value has been around $220 or more. That’s usually over 15 items in a box. So plenty of room in there for some more nice things!

Right?! Ceramic all the way. But it’s both expensive AND fragile…

Yes, her boxes seem to be more about having a wide variety of items rather than a few ‘hero’ items that take up the box value. That might be one reason I like the sub so much – even if 2-3 items are a personal miss for me, there are still plenty of other items to love! (Plus the items make great gifts!) I prefer it to subs that only include 4-6 items at the $50 price point but with heavily inflated RV, where if the hero item is a miss the box can be a dud.

So it isn’t so much curated around a ‘hero’ item as an experience of discovery. I love all the little details she puts into the packaging, even the “She has Arrived” on the outside of the box.

Agree. Everything is highly scented. I would love to give these to some family members but with their allergies it makes no sense.

I’m allergic to lavender and I think the first? box did have a few lavender items in it. However, she sends items in their packaging, not loose. So I was able to just put them aside for swapping/gifting.

If you are deathly allergic to a scent, then I would recommend emailing to ask if it will be in the box before ordering (or skip the sub.) However, if you can handle scented items in their packaging and just swiftly transfer somewhere else (like I did to a drawer) it should be fine. I didn’t have any problem with the lavender items as I did not open them to smell or use them.

She always includes a variety of scents and items, though, so even if one or two scents you can’t use there will be others! So far she’s never sent a box that was entirely curated around one scent. I’ll generally find that for each box there is an item I won’t use scentwise, but plenty more I will!

Really surprised that anyone with fragrance sensitivities would subscribe to this box. While not everything is scented, most of the items are. I recommend checking out the past boxes before you subscribe if you have any issues with scented products!
