Kloverbox Natural Beauty Subscription Box October 2018 Review
Here’s the info card for this month’s box. Three of the four items came with a promo code, which is really nice!
They include this card about their eco-friendly packaging, too. I always appreciate when companies are mindful of the impact of their packaging!
SoyCat Candles Pumpkin Chai Candle Tin, 4 oz. - Retail Value $12.00, Listed Value $22.00
This little candle says it's exclusive on the lid, but I found it on the SoyCat Etsy site for $12.00. Also, the info card lists it as $22.00, but the Etsy site says a 4 oz. candle is $12.00. (It's the 8 oz. version that's $22.00.) I love candles in tins and jars, as they're easier to store than a pillar candle or votive. (They're usually small enough to pop in a drawer really easily, and the lids protect the candles from dust.) But the scent of this particular candle is a little strong for me. I think it's just got a lot going on—the site lists cinnamon, nutmeg, orange peel, clove, black tea, vanilla, and graham cracker, plus cedarwood, cumin, elemi, and orange essential oils. I think this is one that I'll set out but not light, as the fall aroma is strong enough that it should naturally waft its way around my living room without a flame to help it.
Delia Organics Uplift Facial Mist, 2 fl. oz. - Retail Value $20.00, Found here for $17.99
I love the refreshing rosemary scent of this facial spray. Rosemary is supposed to curtail sun damage and free radicals while also leaving your skin feeling refreshed and, as the product's name suggests, uplifted. I can attest to the latter—it's the kind of thing that wakes me up mid-afternoon and gives my skin a much-needed splash of moisture. But while I like the idea of face mists, I've definitely tried them before and failed at really incorporating them into my routine. Maybe I'll swap this in when I'm out of my current toner? I'd hate for it to go to waste.
Bee Magical Bracelet and Wildflower Seeds - Retail Value $15.00, Listed Value $10.00
Save the bees! I like that this simple bracelet acts as a reminder that our little black and yellow friends are in danger and in need of support. I think it's really clever that the bracelet comes with a little bag of wildflower seeds, which can be easily dusted around a garden or backyard to get some bee-friendly flowers growing. Does anyone know whether it's better to wait until spring to sow wildflower seeds, or would they be alright if I sprinkled them around my garden box here in fall?
Coastal SDCA Lip Scrub in Coconut, 0.48 oz. - Listed Value $6.00
This bitty scrub feels like a sample size, as other lip scrubs on the Coastal SDCA store are around 1 oz. I love a lip scrub this time of year when chapped lips start being a daily hassle. This formula is made with just coconut oil and sugar, so it has a very light, natural feeling and a gentle scrubbiness. That said, I almost feel like it's too simple for that reason—I've made scrubs with these same common pantry ingredients in a pinch before, so it feels odd to think about spending $6.00 on it. That said, I've definitely spent that much or more on natural products I could easily make myself before. Sometimes it's just nice to have it at the ready for you!
Verdict: This month's Kloverbox didn't wow me as much as I might've liked. The items were nice, but I wasn't wild about the scent of the candle, the size/simplicity of the lip scrub, nor the face mist, tbh (just because I'm not in the habit of using face mists, so I worry it'll just get left in my cabinet...). I do appreciate that these are natural products from smaller companies. It feels good supporting products/vendors like these! The bee gift was my favorite I think, just because it felt so sweet—it's a present for me AND a present for the bees all in one!
