JoahBox "Fall Adventures" Review
When you first subscribe to JoahBox, there are four drop-down menus to customize your experience:
You will choose your birth month (perhaps for a birthday surprise?), skin tone (ranging from "very fair" to "dark brown"), your skin type, and if you'd prefer to receive more skincare, makeup, or both.
There's an info booklet with each box. This month's theme is "Fall Adventures".
Open it up to find all of the boxes items with descriptions, how to use, and "Joah Tips".
The back urges you to share photos on Instagram using #Joahbox.

BANO Water Glow Injection Mask - Listed Retail Value $3.50
This mask looks to be sold out everywhere online that I can find it, but the info card lists it at $3.50 which seems fair. Out of three possible variations, I received the "Water Glow" mask. I ended up using this mask in a super self-care evening in which I did a mask for my hair and took a bath all at the same time. The mask itself is a thick black material and it fit really well. It was chock-full of essence so much that when I tore it open, I got some splatter. Haha. It felt really soothing and contains ingredients like licorice root extract, lemon fruit extract, and tea tree leaf extract. My skin can use all the moisture it can get so this was a great mask for me.
Pony Effect Effective False Lashes in "Just A Rumor" - Listed Retail Value $20.00
I'm not a huge fan of getting false lashes in boxes since I just don't wear them, but it's nice that these come with their own glue. I can pass these to a friend or keep them on hand for one of the fancier events I usually attend in the early spring. I can absolutely appreciate how natural these look, so if I do use them I will just feel like a bolder version of my natural self.
Glowhill Total Solution Glow Ampoule Pads - Listed Retail Value $12.00
These were a little weird because when I rubbed them on my face they felt like they were leaving behind a ton of oil. I peeped in the mirror expecting to see a shiny mess but it really wasn't that bad at all! I like how they have a scrubby side that allows you to really scrub those harder to reach places that I often ignore (sorry to that little space on the side of each nostril!) The formula contains African Walnut oil and squalane, both of which are really hydrating! All in all, I liked the product, but I am not sure I would purchase it again.
Dreskin Satin Shadow & Fixer - Listed Retail Value $13.00
I don't usually wear eyeshadow as I tend to feel super overdone when I do! As a long time Korean beauty addict though, I knew this would be an exception to that rule. I have yet to experience a Korean makeup that goes on looking as garish as some of its non-Korean counterparts can. They are usually really hard to over-do. This eyeshadow never looked like "too much" no matter how much I applied. It was similar to a cream to powder formula and while it did dry quickly, I had plenty of time to blend it on my lid. When paired with the primer it stayed put all night at a recent gala I attended. I want every color.
April Skin Madeca Solution Cream - Retail Value $25.00
This was a great moisturizer without being a huge WOW for me. It absorbed easily enough and had a slight floral scent. It lacks sunscreen, which is a deal breaker for me but it wasn't heavy enough to be a night time choice for my dry skin. It would be a fabulous choice to someone with normal to oily skin as a night cream and I plan on gifting it accordingly!
Verdict: JoahBox is getting better and better each month! For $33.00, I received five items that have a retail total of about $73.50. I was super impressed by the variety in this box and I was happy to try a few new types of product that I have never seen before. I am so into the eyeshadow and although some of the other products that weren't quite my cup of tea, they will make excellent gifts for friends.
