Darn Good Beads of the Month November 2018 Review
I’ve been receiving Darn Good Beads of the Month for just a few months. I know I will get a simple project with instructions that will be easy to complete in under an hour or two, but the projects have been pretty varied:
The package came with this paper, which contained instructions for this month’s project. They forgot to change the title of the project from last month on the instructions template. Oops.
“Treasure Hunt” Bracelet
This bracelet has some gold-toned findings and Czech melon beads with a “splash” type finish (basically speckles of a metallic color). I did not use all the beads and you could probably get an inch or more extra length from using them all, but if you have a larger wrist, you might run out. (My wrists are 5.25” in circumference.)
You just attach the clasp by knotting and normally this would make me nervous, but because you take the end past the knot and thread it back up through a few of the strung beads, it can’t untie itself easily and is actually pretty secure. If you want to be safe, you can always put a dot of superglue on the knots (which I often do with projects from this subscription).
I’d say this took me all of about 5 minutes to complete; it was super easy. There is something to be said for a project-based box that you can finish in a short period of time as I’ve run across some that take hours and hours.
Verdict: I did not calculate a value for Darn Good Beads of the Month because the materials were unbranded/not labeled. I do feel that the physical materials provided were of good quality. The findings appeared to be decent quality, there was more than enough beading wire, and the beads were actual Czech glass in a currently-popular style and finish. I wish there’d been a few more beads to accommodate people with larger wrist sizes, but overall I was happy with what was provided.
