BoxyCharm October 2018 Tutorial

After seeing all of the interest in Boxycharm’s October 2018 review and tutorial, we wanted to provide our readers with even more ideas on how to apply last month’s products. I was super excited when I saw this palette because it has colors that I thought would compliment my skin tone and eye color well! We enlisted the amazing makeup artist, Brazil Raine to help us showcase more ways to utilize this palette!

Prior to getting started, Brazil added a bit of primer and tinted moisturizer to my eyelids to help ensure the eyeshadow stayed put on my eyes. This helped minimize fall-out.

Let's get into the look!

With the PUR Midnight Masquerade Palette, Brazil got started with the gold Mask Off color in the inner corner of my eye and blended that towards the middle of my eyelid.

Then she added the purple shimmery Disguise on the rest of the eyelid and blended that into Mask Off.

To add a smoky effect, Brazil added Sneak Peek to the crease of my eyelid. She said that a good rule of thumb is to go from light-to-dark from the inner eyelid to the outer eyelid. This creates a lengthening effect on your eye and adds a nice pop!

With a fluffy brush, Brazil added 12am to the outside corner of my eyelid, blending it into the Sneak Peek shade. Then she used a smudge brush to apply it along my lower lash line.

After spraying primer directly onto her brush, Brazil used 12am to create a cat-eye line on my upper lash line. It was awesome to see the versatile uses for this product.

As Desiree mentioned in her review, this IT Cosmetics Superhero Mascara is amazing. It creates a super lush conditioning effect on my eyelashes and makes them look so full people couldn’t believe they were just my lashes. Brazil used an eyelash curler prior to applying mascara to my top lashes, then she added a few strokes to my lower lash line as well.

To add some color to my face, Brazil added the Reveal blush on the apples of my cheeks.

Then she dusted Twilight highlighter on my cheekbones, nose, Cupid's bow, and collarbone. This made me glimmer in the light and catch all the best angles.

The component of last month's box was adding KAT VON D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Bow N Arrow. This color was very close to the color of my skin, so I thought it made me look a bit washed out at the end, but I really enjoyed the texture and matte finish as well.

What I learned: The details go a long way! My eyeshadow looked much sharper, and the color really came out thanks to the bit of primer added to my eyes prior to application. In addition, using primer directly on a slim brush can effectively turn eyeshadow into eyeliner. Lastly, I've never tried putting highlighter on my Cupid's bow and collarbone, but I felt extra feminine when I caught myself in a mirror that evening!

There you have it! I hope everyone got some good pointers and inspiration for more ways to use their BoxyCharm products!

I’m a “whiter shade of pale”, but am pleased to see a tutorial on someone who isn’t !

Great job with mixing the colors for that dusky midnight look!

It looks greate on your olive skin. But not working on mine. Actually, for me pur products are really poor on quality

Ditto. It looks great, but then after like 10 minutes (no matter how much setting powder, primer, spray whatever) it just goes away. Pur should stick to skincare and their lippies, that Blue agave mask is bomb

Great job! It’s so nice to see some more tutorials on MSA. I’m so happy you’re here! (I don’t subscribe to Boxy, but I like tutorials in general).

I love that you had the tutorial done! So close to my Persian complexion that I am going to do this exact look! Thank you and you look gorgeous!

Love this tutorial. I probably would have just tossed this palette aside with the shimmer shadows but now I see how to blend them so they can be work appropriate. The pics really help. Looks great on you, btw.

Wow you are beautiful and the make up looks beautiful on you!

I’d love to see some Boxycharm eye looks done on ladies with very pale skin, because a lot of us do wonder how we can wear the intensely pigmented shadows well.

I feel like they’ve done a few of these with Marne, as well, and she is pretty pale.

I have fair skin. I prefer bold colors. Light colors and neutrals/nudes wash me out. I own eye shadows in every color of the spectrum; matte, shimmer, and sparkle. I just search Pinterest, Bing, or Google. I love to play with color.

If you go to YouTube, the majority of the Boxycharm makeup reviews/tutorials are by women with lighter skin than Neha. I don’t know how pale you want, but I’m sure you can find someone who more closely matches your own skin tone in one of those videos. Just go to YouTube and type in October Boxycharm 2018.

I’m sorry but I can’t watch You Tube.
I want to see the makeup in photos, not on video. I can’t see and follow the videos due to sight impairment almost to the point of blindness.

You look beautiful and the make-up enhances your natural beauty also. I will be trying this look so thank you!
