Bling Bag November 2018 “Aurum Magnum” Review
You choose from four types of jewelry to receive (you have to pick at least two). I chose to receive necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. Rings are also available.
There was an information card talking about the monthly theme. All packages may be different so you also get individual cards with the items you receive.
This month’s theme is all about gold so I was expecting some gold-toned pieces and I was not disappointed. (I don’t remember if you choose a metal tone preference when you sign up because I will wear pretty much any color of metal.)
Brown Glit Wallet – Retail Value $8.39 (599 rupees)
Every month you will receive a small bag, purse, clutch, or similar with this subscription. Usually, there are multiple colors available and you’ll get one at random. This wallet is a good neutral color that will work with several of my larger purses. It seems well made, too.
Giallo Marble Bracelet – Retail Value $11.19 (799 rupees)
I didn’t see the bracelet with this color of stones available in the Bling Bag shop, but there was one with blue stones, so I’ve linked to that one. This is a cuff that is not supposed to be adjustable, which I did not realize until after I’d adjusted it (the gap between the ends is a bit too big because I have very small wrists). No harm done, however, it still looks fine and all the stones are in place. And I won’t adjust it again. I think bracelets are my favorite type of jewelry and I wear them nearly every day, and this will look good in a stack with some others. I might even make a few with white howlite to match the stones in this (I don’t know that the stones here are howlite, I only know that it has a similar appearance).
Punkt Designer Earrings – Retail Value $11.19 (799 rupees)
The dangles are all the same color, the light just caught them a little differently in the earlier pictures. These are nickel free and so far they have not irritated my ears. I like the way they look against my hair. They are super lightweight and comfortable to wear, too.
Solis Pendant Necklace – Retail Value $11.19 (799 rupees)
This is a Y-shaped necklace that is somewhat adjustable (there is about a one-inch extender in back). I think it will look good over some of my solid-colored sweaters, which I have finally broken out as it actually froze here over the weekend for the first time. (We took these pictures before work and I just wore it to work that same day.) This is sparkly but not too flashy for everyday wear.
Arbor Delicate Earrings – Retail Value $11.19 (799 rupees)
I am realizing just how much green is in my wardrobe these days (I tend to go for bright colors and jewel tones, so I guess it’s no surprise). But I can think of at least three outfits that will look good with these, just offhand. These are also lightweight and nickel-free. I also get excited about earrings (and other pieces) that are not something I could easily make on my own, and these definitely qualify.
Verdict: This subscription costs $28.55 at the current exchange rate, including shipping. For that cost, you get four pieces of jewelry plus the wallet, which I think is a pretty good deal. The total value works out to around $53.16. If you ignore the shipping cost, you are definitely receiving “double the subscription price” in merchandise that Bling Bag promises. (What you receive might be different based on your answers to the quiz.) I did feel that everything was of better quality than expected considering the price. Also, packaging was excellent; my Bling Bag boxes take a beating on the way from India to the US but everything inside always arrives in excellent shape and it always feels like you are opening a little gift.
