Art Snacks October 2018 Review
This is the information card that came in the package. It lists each item in the box with suggestions on how to use them. My husband is an artist, and he was completely excited to play with all these new toys! Some candy and the trademark Art Snacks sticker were also included (although the sticker got caught in the box top so is not included in this photo - whoops!).
Marabu Graphix Colour Fineliners, Skyline (set of 4) - List Price $6.99 (found here for $5.59)
My husband loves this new pen set! He said they are super fine and very precise. So, they don't work really well for general drawing, but they are awesome for making fine lines.
Kuretake Bimoji Fude Brush Pen - List Price $8
This is a limited edition pen, as well as an Art Snacks exclusive! This is basically a pen that mimics the form and function of a Japanese calligraphy brush. My husband really enjoyed using it because it is possible (although not super easy) to control the thickness of the line by the way you hold the pen. Very cool!
Sakura Classic White Gelly Roll Pen - List Price $1.49 (found here for $1.25)
The most impressive thing about this white pen, according to my husband, is how well it colors over other inks. That must be really useful! He said it also had a nice roll, which would make sense given the name.
Amsterdam Acrylic Marker, 2mm - List Price $7 (found here for $5.59)
For the first time ever, my husband received an item in Art Snacks that he didn't really like. This is a marker that you push out the paint within, and he said it just kept drying up on him. I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later, but he sure has received a lot from Art Snacks over the years. So, I would say they have done really well!
Art Snacks is not a project box like we sometimes review with instructions and everything, but my husband always likes to do a sample work to show what can be done with the materials provided. He loves making little cartoons of elves and trolls and other whimsical characters. Cute! I think it also is pretty representative of the materials included. This also qualifies as an #artsnackschallenge, which is Art Snacks' monthly challenge to create something using only the materials provided plus paper.
Verdict: Art Snacks is always so much fun! We get to try new fine arts/drawing supplies and tools, and I think my husband really enjoys the Art Snacks Challenge! This month's value comes to $23.78, which just about breaks even with the $24 box cost.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the November box.
Value Breakdown: This box cost me $24 including free shipping, which means that each of the 4 items in the box has an average cost of $6.
