The Mr. Collection Clothing Rental Box Review + Coupon – October 2018
The Mr. Collection is a monthly clothing rental subscription for men. Your stylist puts a pack together based on your style profile and you keep it for as long as you like. When you are done wearing those pieces you send them back in the included pre-paid envelope. You have the option of buying any item at a special member discount price just in case you can’t bear to part with it.
The Mr. Collection has recently revamped its service model to better serve its customers. If you’re a current subscriber and haven’t done so, update your style profile now.
This is the review for The Mr. Collection Premium Once a Month plan, which sends 4 items for $69 per month (plus free shipping).
Each pack includes 3-4 pieces of quality, designer, casual clothing for your everyday look. When you sign up, you answer questions about your style (size, colors, patterns, clothing type, etc.). An actual stylist puts your pack together so, even though your pieces are a surprise, they should work for you. You can leave feedback for your stylist to help make your next pack even better.

The Mr. Collection October 2018 Review
Now that fall is here, even though it may not feel like it yet, it’s time to warm up the wardrobes. John’s stylist, Ashleigh, included some great fall colors for him this month. Let’s check them out:
The included info card includes a handwritten note from Ashleigh and the prices and description of each item. This month, John received a watch and 4 shirts of different styles.
Another Influence Plain Chambray Long Sleeve Shirt, Size XL – Retail Value $79, Member Price $71.10
In August’s review, John had a shirt that was a bit too snug so his stylist sized him up for this shirt. This one is too big, mostly in the arms, but I appreciate that our feedback is being read. This is exactly as the name says, a plain chambray shirt. It’s really basic and would work well for layering under a sweater since it is made from thin cotton (breathable) and no pocket button.
Elliot Havok Watch – Retail Value $95, Member Price $76
This is the first accessory John has received in a pack. He always wears a watch, so this is a great addition to his outfit. He likes that it isn’t bulky (7.5mm thick) and has a normal sized face (35mm). There are hour markers and a nice blue detail at the 12-hour. It looks like the bands are easy to change on this model since the face of the watch simply slides onto the black leather strap. The strap is the only thing John isn’t crazy about. It’s a little rough on the edges and a bit of the tail ends up poking out and gets caught on things.
7 Diamonds Long Sleeve Woven Shirt, Size L – Retail Value $109, Member Price $87.20
This is a sharp looking shirt! The 100% cotton feels crisp and cool with a blue and red check pattern that gives off strong 4th of July vibes. The cuffs, inside of the collar, and button panel all have a contrasting pattern fabric that gives the shirt some character and quality points. I always like to cuff John’s sleeves to show the contrast when he likes the pattern. There’s a set of extra buttons on the tag which is a detail I love in nicer men’s wear.
United By Blue Whitfield Long Sleeve Tee, Size L – Retail Value $42, Member Price $33.60
I’m happy John received a long sleeve tee to try. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t have one in his closet even though I think they could get a lot of use. This one is made of 100% organic cotton that is soft but still has some structure. The black and green blocks of color have a heathered texture which makes it look comfortable and worn in. This is a definite winner!
Jachs Green Strech Short Sleeve Shirt, Size L – Retail Value $79, Member Price $63.20
This shirt is another winner. I love the dusty teal color on John and that this shirt has a linen look and feel to it. But, it’s cotton with 2% spandex so it has a bit of stretch and less tendency to wrinkle. The classic fit is perfect for John since he likes the sleeves to fall a bit lower on his upper arm. Some shirts like this have tiny sleeves. There are some side tab details and some extra buttons on the tag.
Each pack includes a pre-paid return envelope. When you are done with your pieces, just pop them in here and drop it off at the post office. The Mr. Collection will process your return and you’ll be ready to go for your next pack. (If you are purchasing anything, just leave them out of your return package.)
A note about cleaning: You don’t have to clean the pieces before sending them back. The Mr. Collection has everything cleaned once the pieces are returned. I didn’t notice any smell (including fragranced detergent which is good for those with sensitive skin), stains, or signs of wear. Actually, everything was in pristine condition!
The Verdict: John enjoyed most everything in his pack this month. He thought receiving an accessory was great and we were happy to see 5 items instead of the normal 4. I’m always impressed with the fabrics and details with these nicer shirts. Plus, they just fit better than the cheaper ones. I’ve also enjoyed watching John mix up his wardrobe a little more each month that he gets another pack. Just this pack alone was worth $404, and for a cost of $69 with free shipping, I think it is a great deal. Plus, The Mr. Collection customer service is fantastic! The stylists are eager to help and I encourage any subscriber to reach out if you have any questions.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? The Mr. Collection picks clothing for you based on your style preferences so your pack will be different than John’s. Sign up and see what they choose for you!
COUPON: Use code styleaddiction20 to save 20% off your first month!
Value Breakdown: Since this is a clothing rental service, the value really comes from being able to change up and try new, styled looks every month. Since there is no way John would spend this amount to buy clothes at this retail value for himself, it’s great for him to be able to wear high-end clothing for a flat rate. There is always the option to buy an item for a discounted price if you love it. Basically here is what he paid to rent each item for the month (based on retail price):
- Elliot Havok Watch – $16.23
- United by Blue Tee – $7.17
- Another Influence Shirt – $13.49
- 7 Diamonds Shirt – $18.62
- Jachs Shirt – $13.49
