Gaia Collective MoonBox "Balance" Review October 2018
This little card introduces the concept behind the box and details how to make the most of your Moonbox experience.
This next card introduces the lunar phases for October as well as the “intention” for the month, which is “Balance”. I love the mantras included – specifically “I honor the ebb and flow of all things.”
The last insert describes the featured items included in the box, as well as instructions on how they should be used.
Cosmic Collage Moon Calendar
Each box comes with a colorful woven mat that acts as a lunar and astrological calendar for the month. The focus of this October mat is Libra. It’s just a piece of smooth fabric, but it makes for a really eye-catching calendar for the month.
Every MoonBox comes with a set of three crystals or stones, all of which are about 1-2 inches big. Let’s see which ones I got this month.
Malachite for Circulation (Heart)
Malachite is a carbonate mineral that is generally opaque green and banded with various colors of green and black. According to the info card, it’s beneficial for circulation and aligns with the head chakra.
Kyanite for Clear Communications (Throat)
This pale blue nesosilicate is said to inspire loyalty and fair treatment to others. It assists in working through disagreements and disputes and promotes clear communications.
Howlite for Self-Awareness & Forgiveness (Crown)
The last stone is a smooth, shiny white and gray beauty said to facilitate awareness, encourage emotional expression, and assist in the elimination of pain, stress and/or rage.
‘My Sign’ Libra Eye Shadow Wheel - Retail Value $8.00 (found on sale here for $4.80)
I was pleasantly surprised with this little palette for the price point. It contains almost everything you need for an eye look, so it would be perfect for travel. Vegan, Cruelty, and Gluten Free – it contains a primer, eyeshadow, brow powder, highlighter, and brow wax in one small package! I do feel like the pigment is a little on the weaker side, so you will need a few swipes to cover. The formula was easily buildable and blended well. I love the shadow colors and feel that they're a perfect complement to my hazel eyes. I do have to call out though, that although this product is still available, it's 40% off on their website and the reviews are all over a year old, leading me to believe this is an older product.
From top to bottom: the primer (can't see it), 2 brow powders, 3 eyeshadows, and the highlighter.
Jade Face Roller – Estimated Retail Value $9.98 (Similar item found here)
There was no marking on this face roller, so I’m linking to a similar product – it looks to be the same exact one, but I can’t be sure. Jade Rollers are supposed to be little miracles for your skin – reducing puffiness and wrinkles, under eye circles, and pore size. I don’t currently have one in my beauty routine but am excited to add this item. It feels smooth and cool on my face, a sensation that I enjoy – with or without those added benefits!
‘All Together Now’ Herbal Goods Herb and Salt Blend in "Check Yourself", 0.65 oz – Estimated Value $3.34 (buy a 1.75 oz bottle for $9.00)
Ingredients: Himalayan sea salt, sesame seeds, dulse, nettles, parsley, oatstraw powder
“The B-vitamin rich blend aims to help gently nourish your emotional well-being. Use it liberally in broth, soup, on popcorn, on eggs, or in any of your favorite dishes.”
I love almost anything with sesame in it – so I was pleased to get this in my box! I love the thoughtfulness of this company and think that I’ll purchase a few of the other blends. This one was tasty, and I like having blends like this on hand for easy seasoning of chicken, etc.
‘Fruits to the Roots’ Moon Moonserum Facial Oil, 7.3 mL – Retail Value $21.00
Ingredients: carrot seed, jojoba, and meadowfoam oils, with burdock root, chrysanthemum, clary sage, oil of egg, grapefruit, frankincense, geranium rose, holy basil, lavender, licorice root, melissa, mugwort, rose, sea buckthorn, palo santo, pearl
This trial size bottle (should last 1-2 weeks, using a few drops per day after cleaning) is intended to bring out your inner glow, with a slew of natural, balancing herbal ingredients. It does have a pretty heavy herbal scent, but I quite enjoyed it and it did leave my skin feeling soft and glowy.

Hematite Magnetic Crystals
I didn't see mention of this item on any of the inserts included in the box. Hematite is known to clear and activate the root chakra, the energy center that anchors us to the earth and provides a feeling of stability.
These stones are almost gunmetal in color, and are frankly, fun to play with. They have a strong magnet that both attracts and repels them from each other depending on how they are positioned.
The Verdict: I liked the intention, balance, theme of the box. All of the items are useful, and I felt that the box was pretty educational and well curated. Specifically, I love the salt blend and the facial oil and am excited to look into those small (unknown to me) brands a bit more to see what their other offerings include. I found the value for 4 of the 9 items, and those alone (at around $43) exceeded the cost of the box.
