This is a review of the $24.95 a month “Quick and Easy Stringing” box (both versions cost the same).

Facet Jewelry Box (Stringing Version) October 2018 Review
This is still a fairly new subscription so I really didn’t know what was in store:
The first thing you see when you open the box is this full-color booklet. I haven’t shown you all of the pages inside, because part of the subscription fee is for the projects that are included.
This is a really nice booklet, honestly, but I’d expect nothing less from the folks at Bead & Button (I’ve been a subscriber for a while now). There are also links to online resources if you need a little help with a technique.
Orange Swirl Earrings
This project involved taking some pretty thin wire, manipulating it a bit, stringing on seed beads and a few crystals, and then doing some rudimentary wire wrapping. I was not very good at this, although I saw improvement between the first and second earrings, so I think if I just tried a few more times, I might eventually turn out pretty regular ones. There was some leftover wire so you could do more with materials from your own stash.
Six Strand Bracelet
This project involved stringing beads on wire and crimping. I was momentarily thwarted when it came time to attach my work to the clasp. Because if you look, what was supposed to be a six-strand clasp with three loops on each side had a broken off loop, rendering it completely unsuitable.
As it happened, my stash to the rescue. I had a handful of nearly identical clasps available so I just finished this project with one of those in the interest of time.
Here is the finished bracelet. Be careful crimping the ends of the wires; I did break one seed bead with my crimping pliers. I might like to have some crimp covers to go over the crimp tubes just for a nicer look, but I actually do like the way this turned out. Some of the crystals were also broken, but since I have small wrists, I didn’t need all the crystals to complete the project.
Verdict: I did not calculate a value for Facet Jewelry Box. I feel like the projects were designed to fit the “quick and easy” description, though some frustrations with materials made them maybe not so “quick and easy.” Like if you didn’t have a backup clasp, I guess you’d have to write to them and wait for a new one, or the same if you have a larger wrist and ran out of crystals.
I think that, in general, the people who will enjoy this version of the box the most are (1) people new to beading or (2) people who like to bead but don’t have a ton of time. It is helpful to have a basic set of pliers, some good wire-cutters, and some crimping pliers if you want to get the most out of this subscription.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Boxes go out after the 20th and people who sign up before the 15th will get that month’s box. If you sign up after the 15th, you may still be able to get that month’s box but this is not guaranteed. Since this is the August box and I’m writing this review in September, this one is not available any longer.
LIMITED TIME DEAL: Use code SAVE50 for 50% off your first box!
Value Breakdown: At $24.95 per box, you are paying about $12.48 per project.
