Exciting December BoxyLuxe box news! (Thanks for the heads up, Becky and Lien!)

For the December BoxyLuxe, you’ll be able to pick one of the items in the box!

On October 23rd at 10 AM ET you’ll get an email with options for what you can pick. And you must pick it by 4 PM ET that same day!

  1. I received the BoxyLuxe customization email on time, but I didn’t see it until around 10:11. I clicked the link for the Suva palette and had absolutely no problems. I hope everyone is able to choose exactly what they want. I don’t really need any more palettes. I have tons, and I don’t use most of them because I rarely wear eyeshadow. I do love the face palettes though because I do wear bronzer, blush, and highlighter. I recently bought an amazing $200 flat iron from QVC, and I have a Babyliss flat iron from Ulta as well. My hair is very curly and wavy so I doubt a travel size flat iron would do much for straightening my hair plus it would probably take forever. I really think the choices are an odd combination because they are so far apart in retail price and so dissimilar. I’m hoping the other products are more exciting!

  2. I received the email right at 10:00 and able to customize without a problem. I chose the flat iron. I have stacks of eyeshadow pallets

    • I got mine at 9:58 am and was able to choose without issue too.
      Guess Boxy really is stepping it up. However, my account still says “waiting”

      • JustJese, my account also still says “waiting” but someone on here mentioned yesterday that it will say “waiting” until you are charged for BoxyLuxe in December.

    • I customized my box at 1:14PM, no problems!

  3. I received an email saying I was off the waitlist for the Boxy Luxe, but my account status says “waiting”… anybody know what that means? I’m so confused.

    • I also received the same email confirming that my first Luxe Box will be December’s and my acct also still says “waiting”. I too would like to know why?

      • It’s because you haven’t paid for it it. When payment comes out of your account the status will change.

  5. I have that flat iron. It is from Eva NYC. I got it on clearance at Old Navy for $10 – retails for $30. It works ok on my hair as I have thin, straight Caucasian hair (I use it for travel), but I don’t see it being useful for anyone with thick, curly, or coarse hair. I canceled my Boxy after receiving the two travel-sized products (although Boxy Customer Service claims the Briogio is full-sized, I beg to differ). I have enough eyeshadows, blushes, highlighters, brushes, brown lipsticks, eyeliners, and mascaras to last me the next two years, so hope someone else enjoys the open spot.

    • I have pin straight hair, I definitely do not need a flat iron. I am not excited about it.

    • It’s by PYT.. it’s not EVA. So they are 2 different brands. It retails for $180 on their site. It does seem high for a flat iron but it’s not a $30 flat iron. Just to be clear..:)

      • I chose the flat iron after i googled the brand and its expensive so it must be good right? LOL. The pallete was not of interest to me..too much sparkle and highlighter. Flat iron will last but the pallet wont nor be used.

  7. I got an email last week about joining the waitlist, and I’m still trying to decide if it is even worth it to do that. Honest opinion, do you think this upcoming BoxyLuxe will be more worth it than the previous one? Should I just bite the bullet and join the list, and hope to get the upcoming one?

  8. It’s funny to see people get mad over the fact that the website crashed. People. That stuff happens. You can never predict what will happen to your server especially when tons of people flock to it. Cut them some slack or just unsubscribe.

    • It crashes every time they invite an influx of customers to their site. It is very predictable at this point.

    • He posted a video saying that he had the system upgraded and it would be fine!

      • He also stated the website was upgraded and able to handle it for the Luxe release. And couldn’t so it’s hard to trust at this point.

    • It was really about the fact that they asked you to sign up for access so they had a pretty good idea of the interest level, encouraged to be on time, had people up at 6am-9am on a Saturday and their site still couldn’t handle it. And people could try for hours and either get lucky or never get on. It was poorly handled. They directed more traffic to their page than it could take, and also didn’t have enough product to satisfy the interest list, so it was set up to make people disappointed.

      • Caitlin I couldn’t have said it better myself! Your absolutely right!

    • Then don’t have tons of people flock to it = don’t limit the customization window to 6 hours. D u h.

    • For me, personally, it wasn’t that the website crashed that disappointed me — it was HOW the crash was handled. There was no contingency plan and the advise given was to just keep trying. After 3 hours – on 4 different devices and 3 different browsers, I was put on the waitlist. Others got boxes AFTER I did. Yes, it was my choice to follow the advise given — but I am incredibly disappointed. I am staying subscribed until I see what comes in BoxyLuxe for December … not been overly impressed with regular BoxyCharm as of late (and I think all of the variations – particularly of different value – and the inclusion of travel size products identified as full size is growing tiresome).

      • I agree with you. I just sent them an email about not liking the last 6 months of boxes. They were super rude to me! Told me not to expect to like everything in the box that you get and that it’s for you to try something you wouldn’t normally buy. I guess I didn’t like that response. I’m still contemplating canceling. I also was wait listed and frustrated with the site!

      • I agree with you. I too am hangin on to see what the Dec Luxe box will be like because Boxycharm sent me an email saying my first luxe box will be December’s even though my acct still says waiting. We will see I guess.

  9. Looks like a mini hair straightener…what will we get to choose between?? A set of Luxie brushes vs the hair straightener??

    I sure hope that a lot more people get off the waitlist for the luxe box. Especially the ones that don’t have much extra money, and use it to treat themselves.

    It was kinda bittersweet opening my luxe box when I knew so many others out here didn’t get it, and how crazy stressful it was to get it. I hope that they take many off the waitlist for December!!

    That said, I’m super excited about the violet boss pallette, and set of Luxie brushes!!! I have three violet boss palettes (need to make sure it’s not this exact one) but their formula is really nice, easy to blend, especially for those like me whom has no clue what I’m doing (YouTube videos make it look so easy and it’s not haha) They aren’t as soft as color pop, but if you’re gentle the fall out isn’t bad and they perform well.

    So excited boxy is giving us good sized name brand palettes. I collect eye palette’s like a crazy girl!!!

    • I could t of said this any better. I’m on disability and raising four children. This is my ONLY treat for myself. I have neurological problems plus a list of others, this is what makes me feel good about myself anymore. I was fortunate to get to upgrade after 2 1/2 hours of being 9 months pregnant completely stressed out, and truthfully I wanted all the products but especially the headband for my c section lol.

  11. I keep getting really confused when I get emails about BoxyLuxe when my account status still says “pending” underneath my BoxyLuxe option. How do we know our BoxyLuxe subscription is confirmed? It’s really frustrating to keep getting emails about how cool and fun BoxyLuxe is/will be when you’re unsure if you’ve even been accepted to it.

    • Go into your account on boxycharm.com and see what it says there….maybe that could help??

    • I emailed them if we will get the option Oct 23 if we are waitlisted. Bc it says 1)remain a subscriber 2)make sure payment on file is updated (for luxe charge) 3)you will get the Luxe box…. but then it also says we will notify you when u r off the waitlist. Whatever that means… Bc if u did 1,2,3 should be automatically getting the luxe box. Anyway I’ll post when I receive clarification.

  12. I’m going to go out on a limb here and predict that Boxycharm will NOT crash on October 23rd…and this after I foretold of their disaster for the launch of BoxyLUXE.

    I think that Boxycharm’s disastrous launch of a couple months back rattled them (as it should) and I’m sure they are quite aware that a second debacle would prove to be a death knell to their subscriber list.

    So…we will see!

    • Actually this would be their 3rd. Were you not around when they launched their one and only Limited Edition box? That went as badly as when they launched Luxe.

      • Last winter’s Limited Edition was a big mess. I don’t like thinking about it.

    • I doubt it “rattled them” at all. Same exact thing happened to their special edition Christmas box of 2017 and they promoted it for a long time, knew it would be a hit, then their site crashed, did the same as the luxe box, they said they didn’t realise it would be so popular and they were working on coming up with someone to make everyone that wanted it happy, they put out a restock I guess, and several of us missed it then because we didn’t know.

      Then the worst part about it was you had people bragging they got anywhere from 5 to 14 of them, just so they could resell them. And boxy said then it would be limited to “one per customer “. It’s just one of those things when you do business I guess. I hope for December everyone that wants it is off the waitlist. It makes me sad the ones that get them only to resell it, and so many people can barley afford it, and want it to have some decent makeup because that’s the only way they can afford it. I know there is no way to tell, but it would be nice to give those top priority and then the resellers next.

      • I agree with you 100%. I for one am disabled and I can’t afford to pay for decent makeup. Before I found out about Boxycharm I didn’t own any makeup at all. The last job I had denied us wearing makeup. And I worked 16 hours a day 7 days a week, so the makeup I had owned before that job of course went bad. I worked in a clean room so makeup, perfume, and deodorants were not allowed. Then I was put on disability just as soon as that job ended because I was injured. I got put on the wait list on the 1st boxyluxe on the launch. So hopefully I will get the December boxyluxe. I’m a single mom on disability so the makeup is for myself and my daughter.

    • Amazon couldn’t even handle their volume on Prime Day this year, and they are actually in the business of selling cloud computing services to other companies. If Amazon can’t have a sale without their servers crashing, I don’t have much confidence that other companies (who don’t even specialize in this) will be equipped either, despite all the best intentions and planning efforts.

  14. I feel like the bookmakers in Las Vegas at setting the over/under and odds on this actually working. If not, they should. Lol!

    • Bwhahahaha. YES!!!! That darn over/under will get you almost every time, unless you’re super lucky!!! Hahaha

You made me fight with the damn computer , phones, and tablet to just get the dang luxe box, this month you send me a poop box that instead of my pretty pink lippie spoiler you send me a sh!t brown named crucifix repeat items and a dang travel size hair thing. Now you expect me to fight your servers AGAIN to pick one item screw you boxy just screw you.

  17. Kind of strange to do it on a work day during work hours of operations. Hopefully I’m not too consumed with work that day and be able to pick. Fingers crossed!

    • These things always happen during the work day. I miss out every time. I feel it is done that way to limit the number of people who respond to an offer.

  20. I don’t think the site will crash, because it’s not like the items are going to sell out and there won’t be as much traffic on their site all at once. I think this is a great perk for Boxy to give to their subscribers and I give them a thumbs up for doing it! I can’t wait to see what items will be available for this. Thank you Boxy! I was lucky enough to get the 1st BoxyLuxe as well as the 1st Ipsy Glam Bag Plus, and I must say I have absolutely no complaints with either of them! These companies are providing extraordinary products at an amazing price, and I just don’t see how they can satisfy everyone. It is impossible! I am sure that there is at least one product in these boxes that one likes, and if that’s the case then it more than pays for the box, so why complain? Everything else is a bonus! Yes, everyone is entitled to their opinions, but when it comes to these subs, my opinion is there’s lots of expectations that are very unreasonable lately. I have said this before and I am gonna say it again…..if there ever comes a time when I am never satisfied with what I am getting from these subs, I will cancel and take the money to go buy a SINGLE product that I really want. Sometimes the price of a single product in these boxes, is more than the cost of the box!

  21. This is going to go badly… hopefully it’s between 2 good choices that I’m indecisive about anyway then I’ll just let myself be surprised.

    Right now I have a half hour block between meetings from the start of the selection time frame. Leave my calendar alone folks! 🙂

  23. I don’t believe I’ll get a email and am on a waitlist for December. It’s probably only for the subscriber’s that got the last Boxyluxe. Just like the interest list.

    • I got the email and I am still on the Waitlist for BoxyLuxe according to my account settings on Boxycharm.

      • I never get sny emails from them despite my telling customer service. I still show as waitlisted too. Today on Instastories they said sign up now for luxe, they had a few openings. WTH

    • I received the interest list email, replied and was still unable to get the lux box. After this months and last box I am so disappointed in boxycharm. I recommend so many people to this box and I am just about done with them!

    • I saw people seeking their boxes for 90 bucks each. How they gogot around it was using different addresses and card info. I was on their interest list and didn’t get a box.

  24. What good reason could they possibly have for having customization only be open for 6 hours? Their site will probably crash again. Not to mention it’s on a Tuesday during hours most people will be working.

    • Plus it’s eastern time so starts early for us on the west coast. Boxycharm sure likes to stir up the drama.

      • I’m in Hawaii so even earlier for me! =/ HAHA. I’m used to it by now though.

        • Michelle, plus you shouldn’t complain because you get to live in Hawaii lol.

  25. I’m confused. I got this e-mail, but I did NOT sign up for BoxyLuxe. Anyone else have this issue?

    Conversely, I DID sign up for Ipsy Plus, and they just sent me a regular glam bag this month. All these companies need to hold off on launching these things until they know what they’re doing. These launches are all so problematic.

    • i want both! My 1st pick would be the brush set, but I dont have a mini iron which would be really nice to have 🙂

    • Omg I want both!!! But I didn’t think the mini flat iron would be included, that’s awesome!

    • It will be entertaining. They haven’t got that website working any better, if they had, the launch of Luxe would haven’t have been the fiasco it was. BC should have learned from their LE box mess. I’m going to cancel for Nov, so won’t worry about this!

  29. The fact that we are only given 6 hours to customize really leads me to believe that this will be a disaster. Why they are only giving less than a business day is beyond me. I hate to be pessimistic, but I think their site is going to crash again, and we will all be out of luck.

    • Because they still haven’t learned how to add the inventory quantities to a website, LOL. If they did, the customization period would last several days (like Julep or Birchbox), and if the item you wanted ran out, the website would tell you that.

      Cue another sorrowful video from Yosef, with a rude GIF to match…

    • I got this email. It’s only for us to have a choice of a product, not to customize everything about the box. It’s probably just a way to choose a lip color since everyone complains about the one they got in their box.

    • And it’s right in the middle of the work day. I hate using my work computer for personal stuff, especially since my only browser options are Edge or Explorer.

      Were they even thinking?

  30. Why would they do this on a random Thursday, during regular business hours? I’m glad they’re doing it, but not enough of of a window to do it is being given.

    • FYI the 23rd is a Tuesday. Didn’t want you to miss the 6 hour window. 😉

  36. I really hope this won’t be a disaster. I have no holes between the LE and Sept box disasters. They said that we don’t have to go through that stuff again dec 1. But now they are adding the customization Oct 23rd. And probably will be a hot mess. I hope it works out.

  38. I upgraded. I’ve been wanting to try Violet Voss, and I’m really hopeful the Luxie brushes and mini flatiron will be included. I like the idea of having a choice on an item, but I hope it doesn’t turn into a Oui Please situation.

  40. Has everyone received their October Boxycharm? I have yet to receive mine, nor have I received a tracking email.

    • Thats odd. I received mine early this month. Did you subscribe late?

      • I’ve been a subscriber for two years.

    • I’ve not yet received mine, nor any tracking info.
      Ditto for Ipsy Plus.

    • I got my box last week. My Ipsy Plus has also shipped apparently, but that one I haven’t seen.

      • ditto. My Ipsy plus has been sitting in CA since Fri. I am in Vegas so not sure what the holdup is.

        • Most of the Ipsy orders come out of NC so there were some shipping delays due to the hurricane threat. I got my Ipsy Plus yesterday but my regular ipsy hasn’t moved in a week.

      • I went back through my emails and found the tracking info. It was actually delivered yesterday, but I haven’t checked my PO Box lately…hahaha
