Bonjour Jolie October 2018 "Breast Cancer Awareness Month" Review

I was happy to see that Bonjour Jolie chose Breast Cancer Awareness Month as their theme. They could very easily have gone with the Halloween theme, but as a box that caters to menstruating ladies, this makes more sense. I think the packaging looks great this month, too and the contents card looks professional.

Alright! Let's start with the goods! All of your menstrual products will come in a discreet bag that fits in with the theme. This beautiful rose design was perfect!

When you sign up, you can choose up to 20 different menstrual products in any combination of tampons, pads, and liners. They offer a great selection of items from brands like Always, Kotex, and OB. You can check their selection out before you commit though, in case you are someone who has a preferred brand.

U By Kotex Click in Super (16)- Buy 36 for $6.99

Always Radiant Liners (5) - Buy 96 for $6.99

Softdisc Menstrual Disc (4) - Buy 12 for $10.99 (formerly Softcup)

You can change your selections at any time by editing your profile and I had modified my product preferences in  August, but they didn't take effect until this month. So keep in mind there might be a delay if you need to switch up your needs each month! The ability to switch it up is what I really like about this box! I am aiming to try a few new things and this month, I was able to add some menstrual cups to my package. This is something I've never tried before and am a little scared to try, but since I was able to just get a few at a time instead of buying an entire box and I have backups if it doesn't work out! It also looks like I received a few extras this month. I had requested 12 tampons and 4 liners but received 16 tampons and 5 liners.

GoodWipes Down There Wipes in Shea-Cocoa (2) - Buy 30 for $7.99 (Looks like these are currently sold out!)

I think the name speaks for itself, and these 100% flushable and biodegradable wipes are good for those moments when you might want to freshen up!

Advil to Go Packs (2) –  Buy 50 packets for $10.44

These little packets each have two pills, just enough to help with cramps or headaches while on the go.

Breast Cancer Awareness Pin

All of our breast cancer awareness themed items came in this separate bag. This little pin is very thin and lightweight. There is no branding on it, and it's a little misshapen on one end, but it gets the point across! It also wasn't listed on the card, so I'm just going to count this as a bonus item this month!

Bonjour Jolie Herbal Lip Balm - Retail Value $3.99

This peppermint lip balm is actually made exclusively for Bonjour Jolie and sold in their online shop. This month it looks like the label makes it a special edition tube. I love all the organic ingredients and it definitely feels moisturizing.

Custom Breast Cancer Awareness Socks - Listed Value $8.99

These socks are a nice thin knit that features the pink ribbon on either side at the top. These are very simple, but cute with the pink accents at the heel and toe. A simple way to show your support or honor someone. You can get your own custom socks made here.

Honey PureSpring Premium Bath Bombs in Lavender Fields and Vanilla Breeze - Listed Value $6.99

These organic bath bombs are a nice way to pamper yourself when you need it! The lavender sort of overtook the vanilla scent since they were in a bag together, but the scent is nice and relaxing. The website is listed on their sticker, but unfortunately, the link doesn't work. I tried to locate the business with a quick Google search, but came up empty!

Salada Green Tea Bags (4) - Buy a pack of 20 bags for $3.99 (price varies by flavor)

Our edible treats came nicely packaged in this pink bag.  The first item was four packets of green tea, which they included for their cancer-fighting properties. I like that they gave us different flavors to try- 2 soothing mint, 1 Asian plum, and 1 lively lemon. I decided to have a nice cup of soothing mint since this arrived on a cold rainy day which always makes me want to warm up with a hot drink!

Dark Chocolate Twix Bar (full size) - Listed Value $1.00

I love Twix bars and I usually enjoy the dark chocolate versions of candy bars so I am excited to try this one! I opted to save it for a day when I inevitably get a chocolate craving and can hide in my closet where the kids won't find me!

Elvan Panda Bear Cake - Listed Value $3.99 (not found on the Elvan website)

This panda cake comes from Istanbul, Turkey and is definitely a unique treat to include. I'm not sure how or why it's in the box, as it seems pretty random, but I guess chocolate never needs an excuse! This was just like a chocolate Twinkie. It was cute and pretty tasty, but not something I'd seek out again!

Annie's Chocolate Chip Cookie Bites - Listed Value $1.00 (Buy a 10 pack here for $5.99)

These mini chocolate chip cookies were a snack I was happy to share with my kiddos since they are organic and made with no artificial flavors. They weren't anything special to me, but the kids enjoyed them, so it made for a treat I didn't feel too terrible feeding them!

YumEarth Halloween Lollipops - Listed Value $1.00 (Buy 80 here for $7.99)

I was just recently introduced to these lollipops and love that they are organic, gluten free, non-GMO, and colored with real fruit and vegetable juice. They are tasty and another snack I'm happy to share with my kids. I also love that we still got a little bit of Halloween in our box from these!

Verdict: Bonjour Jolie is a fun box to receive every month! It provides a little pick-me-up right when you need it and includes the essentials like yummy snacks and menstrual products in addition to some fun extras. I love that each month I can switch up my profile and make sure I am getting exactly what I need product wise and I think the amount they send is fair. I liked the theme this month and thought that everything went well together.  This is such a convenient service and this company seems very willing to customize your box and meet your needs whether it's allergens or just personal preferences, which is awesome. We paid $24.48 ($16.50 + $0.99 tax + $6.99 shipping) for this month's box and I estimate the total value of everything to be about $35.85, which is a decent value, although I did have to go by list value for most items.

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

I was scrolling too fast and saw “double edibles” as an option and thought they had upped their game to a whole other level, lol.

Imagine the profits in a subscription based edibles box.

It was nice to see this review. I subscribed for about a year for my daughter in college. We had a couple problems with the first few boxes and being charged without the box arriving. When I had to replace my credit card, I didn’t update this subscription and eventually it was cancelled. My daughter misses the box. But I thought it was a bit expensive and the customer service wasn’t easy to work with (they are deaf so all communication is via e-mail – but not “chat”). I felt the delay in responding made conversing & resolving problems difficult. Also the boxes arrive once a month, not necessarily every 4 weeks so the timing was off especially in the beginning and hard to adjust. I might resubscribe for her if the black Friday deal is good, but I might look elsewhere.

Hi Marilyn! Thanks for sharing your experience. I can see why your daughter enjoyed it- I would have loved to have something like this in college! Hopefully your next experience with them will be smoother if you decide to re-sub! 🙂
