Skin & Co Roma Discovery Bag review

About This Box

The Box: Skin & Co Roma Beauty Discovery Bag

The Cost: $25 + free shipping

The Products: Skincare and body care, plus a $25 gift card!

Skin & Co Roma Discovery Bag Review

The items in the box came packaged inside the Donatella beauty bag. I found the quality to be like that of a standard Ipsy bag, only a bit bigger.

Here is the info sheet that describes some of the samples.

Truffle Therapy Toner, 1.7 oz

Truffle Therapy Toner, 1.7 oz – Estimated Value $13.60 (buy the 1 oz version for $8)

In my experience, most toners have some sort of astringent quality so your pores will close. Because of that, this toner was a unique treat! It is incredibly hydrating and soothing, and not astringent at all.

Truffle Therapy Cleansing Oil, 1 oz – Retail Value $8

This cleansing oil is like a cross between micellar water and a traditional cleansing oil. To use, you pour some on a cotton pad and swipe it across your face before rinsing with warm water. I wouldn’t reach for this if I needed to take off a full face of makeup, but this is great on no-makeup days or in the mornings once I wake up.

Truffle Therapy Serum, 0.17 oz

Truffle Therapy Serum, 0.17 oz – Estimated Value $11.90 (buy the 1 oz version for $70)

I typically think of serums as being watery and almost oily in consistency, but this serum is like a very light cream. It is designed to renew and restore skin to boost skin radiance and reduce fine lines.  I have been using this sample at night the past few days, and I do think that my skin has a bit more radiance!

Truffle Therapy Cream, 0.17 oz – Estimated Value $6.80 (buy the 1.7 oz version for $68)

This cream is the perfect mixture of being nice and hydrating without being heavy or greasy. This absorbed quickly into my skin and left it feeling soft and supple. This is light enough to use in the morning on my oily skin without turning into a greasy spoon but hydrating enough to use at night. I'm a big fan!

Truffle Therapy Whipped Cleansing Cream, 1 oz

Truffle Therapy Whipped Cleansing Cream, 1 oz – Retail Value $10

This whipped cleansing cream has a lovely light texture, and it is formulated with truffle extract and sweet almond oil for added hydration while it cleanses. This is incredibly gentle and would be great for sensitive skin.

Truffle Therapy Face Gommage, 1 oz – Retail Value $8

This is, without a doubt, the most gentle exfoliating face wash I have ever used. When I first used it I thought I had grabbed the whipped cleansing cream by mistake! This is made with ground apricot kernel for exfoliation, but the exfoliation is mild and not abrasive at all. This is perfect for sensitive skin.

Umbrian Truffle Hand Cream, 0.33 oz

Umbrian Truffle Hand Cream, 0.33 oz – Retail Value $4

This hand cream is great for dry skin thanks to shea butter and sweet almond oil, and it has a light fig scent. This small size is perfect for throwing in my purse for on-the-go hydration.

Citrus Amaro Hand Cream, 0.33 oz – Estimated Value $3.96 (buy the 1 oz. version for $12, found here for $8)

This too is formulated with shea butter and sweet almond oil, but instead, it is scented with lavender and orange. Like the truffle hand cream, it absorbs quickly and does not leave my hands greasy.

Umbrian Truffle Exfoliating Body Gel, 6 ml – Buy the full-size version for $20

Rosemary & Verbena Body Milk, 6 ml – Buy the full-size version for $22

Fresh Lavender Exfoliating Body Gel, 6 ml – Buy the full-size version for $16

Umbrian Truffle Body Lotion, 3 ml – Buy the full-size version for $24

Citrus Amaro Body Lotion, 6 ml – Buy the full-size version for $22

To round out an already great discovery box I also received these five single-use sample packets. I enjoyed the fresh scent of the lavender body gel, which provided a gentle exfoliation. The rosemary and verbena body milk smelled oddly similar to lemon Pledge, but weirdly I liked it. The rest of these samples will be going into my makeup bag for the next time I travel!

$25 Gift Card

About a week after ordering my discovery bag I received my e-gift card! It truly is a gift card—no strings attached and no minimum purchase required. I decided to buy the full-size version of the toner because I loved how gentle it was! I also wanted to buy something that was $28, because that is the minimum purchase requirement to get free shipping. I put the toner in my cart, entered the gift card, paid the extra $3, and that was that! My toner has already been shipped, too!

The Verdict: What stood out to me the most through reviewing this box is how gentle all of the products were on my skin. These products would be amazing for dry, sensitive skin but none of them were too heavy or thick for my oily skin. The value for the products themselves (not including the single-use samples) is $66.26, which I think alone would have been a great value for this discovery kit. The fact that a $25 gift card was included as well puts this box as one of the best valued- boxes I have received in a long time. I think having a $25 gift card compared to a full-size $25 product is worth more because everyone who got this box will be able to choose which product they want to buy that's right for them. I would 100% be behind any other companies that do this because it really made me have a positive experience with Skin & Co.

To Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you sign up today? Unfortunately, this is no longer available.

Value Breakdown: This box cost $25 with free shipping and I calculated a total value of $91.26. Here is what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Toner: $3.73
  • Cleansing Oil: $2.19
  • Serum:  $3.26
  • Face Cream: $1.86
  • Whipped Cleansing Cream: $2.74
  • Face Gommage: $2.19
  • Truffle Hand Cream: $1.10
  • Citrus Hand Cream: $1.08
  • $25 Gift Card: $6.85
  • single-use foil packets: not counted towards the value
  • beauty bag: not counted towards the value

What do you think of the Skin & Co Roma Beauty Discovery Bag? What did you decide to buy with your gift card?

I got a duplicate Whipped Cleansing Cream instead of receiving the Face Gommage, and then I was missing 2 body gels 😭 I bought 2 minibar items in order to get free shipping and that qualified for 3 free samples… they were all Citrus Amaro body body lotion 😐 I emailed CS, I just hope to get my missing items… waiting to hear back. I did use my $25 GC towards the purchase of the mini skincare set, so I spent $13 on what should have been $38, and significantly discounted at that price even. In the end I have spent about $45 total, that’s just $7 over what just the mini skincare set would have cost 🤷🏻‍♀️ I would say that is not bad, especially if I end up loving something.

I absolutely loved that this bag contained an entire skin care regimen. I also bought the Elemis set and a complete grown Alchemist regimen in my fab fit fun box. Each day I’ve been using one set to figure out which one I like the best. Thus far I can’t make a decision because all three of them are wonderful for different reasons. This particular set is so gentle and smells so good I’m truly hard pressed to say which one is best.

I received mine and think it was a great deal overall. It was pretty much an entire skin regimen with decent sizes. I was excited for the toner but found it not enough for my oileir skin sadly. I like the hand creams well enough though not enough orange in the one. lol I’m not sure about the rest yet but evenif it’s all a wash you can gift the $25 to someone else it looks like. So a total win for me.

Oh and the bag is actually quite nice! 🙂

I guess nobody caught on to what happened to me. So I went on ur site to what was to come in the bag and noticed and in yours btw that I didn’t get the face oil they were telling us would be included. I contacted cs immediately that day and was given a travel size which is 5ml sent ASAP instead of what they were supposed to send to everyone which was supposed to be 3ml. But it was supposed to be the ultra pure facial oil truffle therapy by then. Their cs is amazing, and handled the request very quickly so I love that about them. I also haven’t received my fift card tho 😕 but I love these items in here and glad I got it

Hi,

Can anyone help me with contacting them to get my e-gift card? I searched every box in my email and I could not find it.

Thanks

Anna

The citrus hand cream in mine was missing, replaced with two of the truffle hand creams. The gift card was emailed to me and I was glad I waited to use since they have a good sale going on.

I placed my order on 8/19 and received my bag but never received an email with the gift certificate. Has anyone else not received their certificate? I ordered two bags too so that’s $50.

This is a great deal – looks like a lot of fun. Although I have so much product right now, I should be struck down by lightning if I buy anything else. Someone please restrain me!

Anna

It’s sold out no restraint needed 😆

I love the samples I have received from other boxes, but got to try other items in this box. I especially love the serum. I think I’m buying one of the bath oil products, though.

You can use the gift card with the promo too.

Jessica, thanks for letting us know the scrub has apricot kernels! I haven’t tried mine yet thank God. I have a few little spider veins on my face, some that I have had since I was a kid. Turns out those kernels can make them worse. Of course I didn’t read that until after using that classic St. Ives scrub for quite some time as a teenager. So thanks again for warning me so I can just pass this on instead!
