Gaia Collective MoonBox "Align" Review September 2018
This little card introduces the concept behind the box.
This next card introduces the lunar phases for September as well as the "intention" for the month, which is "Align".
Cosmic Collage Moon Calendar
Each box comes with a colorful woven mat that acts as a lunar and astrological calendar for the month. The focus of this September mat is Scorpio. It's just a piece of smooth fabric, but it makes for a really eye-catching calendar for the month. I feel like it can also be used as a setting for different mindfulness rituals, too.
Every MoonBox comes with a set of three crystals or stones, all of which are about 1-2 inches big. Let's see which ones I got this month.
Botswana Agate
I love the lavender undertones of this gray and sandy brownstone. According to the info card, it's meant to inspire grounding and patience and aligns with your root chakra.
Shungite
I've heard about this charcoal-like stone before as a powerful detoxifier. The card suggests putting it in your drinking water.
Selenite Ball
This last crystal is like a frosted glass marble. It's made of selenite, which is said to have a cleansing energy that aligns with the crown chakra.
Colored Selenite Wand from Woman Shops World
I couldn't find this particular size of wand on the Woman Shops World site. (They do, however, offer these 3" versions.) The wand is just under 4.5" long and has a nice heft to it. The blue color is artificial—I don't know if it's a particular kind of paint or dye, but it's not naturally occurring in the stone. While it's striking to look at, it's kind of messy in actuality. The blue dye rubbed off on my fingers, and bits of the stone flaked off like glitter.
Aligning Aura Soap from Crystal Bar Soap
I didn't see this soap on the CrystalBarSoap.com site. There's a clear crystal inside this soap, though it's hard to see amidst the chunks of glitter. It's about 3 inches long and has a shape that's really reminiscent of a crystal. I think it'd look a bit more magical if the soap was completely clear, rather than silvery gray, but it does make a nice statement on the corner of the bathroom sink.
Moon Solid Perfume by Gypsy Soul Organics, 0.5 oz. - Retail Value $25.00
This tiny tin contains solid perfume made from sweet almond oil, beeswax, sunflower oil, rose, ylang ylang, lavender, and jasmine. The rose aroma is what hits me first, and I have to say that the other earthier/herbier notes don't seem to sit with that fruity, floral rose aroma as nicely as I might've liked. (The lavende, in particular,r comes across as kind of bitter to me.) It's not my favorite fragrance, though I do like the idea of a solid, natural perfume. The pocket-friendly size is nice, too.
Mat Mist in Thyme Douglas Fir, 4 fl. oz. - Retail Value $11.00
I love a natural mat cleaner, and this one has the added bonus of smelling like the inside of a cozy cabin! The natural ingredients of this spray are said to have naturally antimicrobial, antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties that help keep sweaty mats in tidy shape.
Yoga Strap by I Love Gurus - Retail Value $12.00
This sturdy yoga strap will come in handy on stiff days or when I'm trying to do a pose where my feet feel juuuuuust out of reach. I like the peaceful purple color. Also, the strap can double as a strap for carrying my mat!
There's a card with a coupon for the brand, too.
The Verdict: I wasn't as in love with this month's box as I have been with previous ones. Some of the items felt a little so-so to me—the fragrance of the perfume wasn't my style, I liked that the soap seemed handmade, but the cloudy gray color wasn't my thing, and the blue color of the wand kept rubbing off in my hand. I appreciate that they're sourcing products from small vendors, but I wish the quality was one or two ticks above where it was in this box. I do appreciate all of the information they give about the celestial happenings in September and I'm excited to have a bigger, very practical item like the yoga strap in the box—I always get more into yoga as the weather gets cooler and the thought of a warm studio sounds nicer and nicer, so a new strap will come in handy!
