KiwiCo. has been one of my favorite subscription companies for years now due to their outstanding kid subscriptions such as Kiwi Crate, Doodle Crate, and Tinker Crate, and my kids absolutely love their projects! In addition to their subscriptions, KiwiCo. has several standalone projects available for purchase in their online store. They recently sent me their Science & Art Pack, which is a trio of amazing arts and STEM-based electronics projects for children ages 9 and up!
Please note that the full Science & Art Pack includes three projects. This review is of only one of those projects, Light Up Wire Art.
This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Our Review
This is our instruction manual that was included in the box.
Here's a peek at some of the instructions. They are illustrated and easy to follow.
This little insert was also included with safety information about the enclosed batteries.
These are the supplies that were included. The only thing we needed to supply from home was a pair of scissors.
My son's first step was to assemble the battery pack and test the wire to make sure it was working. It works!
His next step was to choose a template. He wanted to do the iconic cactus, so he had to then cut out the planter shape. There were other templates included, such as a kitty and an ice cream cone.
Using the included awl, my son had to go all around the template and poke little holes in the dots along the cactus shape. He then started threading the wire into the design.
He essentially laid out the wire along the cactus design. Every inch or two there were two holes on either side of the design line. He threaded twist ties through the holes and around the wire, securing them on the back.
He then attached a back panel to the design canvas with sticky foam and pulled the wire through the hole so that it can be attached to the battery pack.
Then he attached the planter to the front of the design with sticky foam.
Then he built the stand for his art.
Next, he attached the battery pack to the stand with sticky foam.
His last step was to attach the wire to the battery pack, turn it on, and place the canvas on the stand. This is his completed wire art! It's so cool!
And it works great! I included this short video to show that the button on the battery pack allows for three settings: continuous, blinking, and fast blink. This is the blinking setting. This is so cool! My son just loves it!
The Verdict: We love everything from KiwiCo., and the Light Up Wire Art project was a special treat for us! My son really enjoyed doing this project, and he loved the result. It really does a great job merging art and science! For a very reasonable price, too! This project is priced individually for $34.95 or is one of three kits in a $75 gift set, all including free shipping. I would say $25 for an hour of learning and creating something special is definitely a bargain!
