They threw in a couple of stickers too.

Let's dive into these items!

Chica Y Chico Cool Night Peel Off Mask back of Chica Y Chico Cool Night Peel Off Mask

Chica Y Chico Cool Night Peel Off Mask - Retail Value $18.00

This might be one of my favorite items right out of the gate. I love all kinds of masks, but peel off ones are at the top. This one came at a great time, though it could have come earlier in the summer since it's a cooling mask. I squeezed the thick light blue teal mask out of the tube and used my trusty silicone applicator brush to apply it in an even layer on my face, avoiding my eyes and mouth. It immediately started cooling my face with its super minty properties which reminded me of a mentholated balm. Walking around while it was wet made it feel even colder but I spend most of my time texting my bestie from my bed, as one does. Once it dried (about 20 minutes) I gently peeled it off to reveal fresh calm skin. What a fun experience!

Chica Y Chico Matte Powder in Matte Pink - Retail Value $12.00

There's a second Chica Y Chico product this month in the form of a matte powder. There are two variations and I received the pink one which "corrects dullness to brighten the complexion". I tried to swatch it above the lipstick below but it is virtually invisible on camera, which is actually a good thing in my opinion. Even though the powder has a sparkle to it, it doesn't come off as being glittery at all. I use this as a setting powder after I finish my makeup to absorb oils on my skin and give my skin a more flawless look. I've been using a powder from Sephora for years and am excited to switch to this one.

Prreti Honey + Berry Lip Sleeping Mask Prreti Honey + Berry Lip Sleeping Mask with cap off

Prreti Honey + Berry Lip Sleeping Mask - Retail Value $6.26

I am obsessed with all lip products (especially balms) but I rarely see lip masks in sub boxes. This was a pleasant surprise. I love the adorable bright yellow tube with cute bee and it smells super delicious with its mix of honey and berries. This is a thick cloudy gel that you can apply after a good lip scrub and before you go to bed to moisturizer your smackers while you sleep. I can also appreciate this applicator tube since another mask I have in a tube is meant to be squeezed on to your fingers and then lips which just seems like an extra step. Love it!

AHC Calming Cotton Sheet Mask back of AHC Calming Cotton Sheet Mask

AHC Calming Cotton Sheet Mask - Listed Retail Value $10.00

Masks galore this month! At least they're all different, right? I am sort of sheet masked out this week so I haven't gotten to try this one yet but the variation I got is "Calming" and is made with a 100% cotton mask which is nice. It also has a lot of great oils like bergamot and lavender with sugarcane, and a whole bunch of natural extracts. Can't wait to pop this was on while laying on my couch and reading. I wasn't able to find this one at a reputable store online but $10 seems like a lot, so this is hopefully a really nice one!

Karadium Full Moon Matte Lip Pencil Karadium Full Moon Matte Lip Pencil with lid off

Karadium Full Moon Matte Lip Pencil in Coral Moonlight - Retail Value $12.38 (found here for $7.43)

If I'm going to wear a cream lipstick, I have to admit that I prefer these skinny tall ones to the traditional lipstick case. I find them a bit easier to apply. There were several variations on color with this item and I received "Coral Moonlight". While this isn't as light as a traditional coral, it does have an orange hue that I find really flattering with my skin tone. Great for fall, as it will match the changing foliage. This pencil is super creamy and glides on easily.

Here's the lipstick swatched with the powder above it, though it's hard to see.

Verdict: I was really excited to get my JoahBox and it did not disappoint. $33.00, including free shipping, got me five full-size products with the perfect mix of skincare and makeup that have a retail value of $58.64. These aren't products I could buy locally so I enjoyed discovering these K-Beauty brands with super cute packaging that ended up being really nice too.

I’m kinda confused; each box is supposed to retail for $100 but this one is only like $50? I really like the idea of some customization, I’m currently subscribed to Bomibox and while I love getting great deals on stuff I can’t buy anywhere else it’s frustrating when I get 3 full size toners/emollients in one box. While they’re good quality and nice, none of them are what I REALLY need. I’d love to try this out to see what variations I could get (I’m not in it for the makeup just skincare), it’s a few dollars less than Bomibox 🤔 idk maybe I’ll give it a try. But if this would’ve been my box I would’ve been on the phone asking how this all added up to the $100 value promise.

Ooh I’m going to get this sub! I just canceled Bomibox because I don’t like the long lag between the credit card charge and shipment of the box. This will be a perfect replacement. I love how customizable this sub is.

This is the one! I have been looking for a K beauty box that you can customize a little. And I love masks, specifically non-sheet masks. Although, I won’t turn any mask away. I also love face make-up. Boxes rarely send out foundation or powders, obviously because it is hard to match the myriad of skin tones among subscribers. It looks like it would be fun to select the skin care option for a few months and then change it to the make-up option for a few months. Whenever you have product overload of one type, then you can move to the other. I have high hopes for this box.

Thank you for reviewing this box, Marnie, and I always love your irreverent, but still kind, tone.

I don’t think you can customize this box. The choices you make in the form are basically just a guideline for them to see if the majority of subscribers would prefer to get more skin care or makeup. It’s not like Birchbox where they actually allow you to pick at least one item.

Based on my experience they actually customize when they have product variations based on skin type/concern and also on makeup colors
