Art Snacks September 2018 Review
This is the information card that came in the package. It lists each item in the box with suggestions on how to use them. My husband is an artist, and he was completely excited to play with all these new toys! Some candy and the trademark Art Snacks sticker were also included.
Zebra Zensations Brush Pens, x3 - Retail Value $2.50 each (found on sale here for $2.25)
These three pens are the same except the tip size (superfine, fine, medium), and they have a great deep black pigment. The ink is also water resistant. The brush nibs are flexible and deliver a consistent ink supply. My husband really liked working with them! He said they are great quality, but they are not quite as juicy as some other brush pens he has tried. This can be good or bad, depending on what you are using them for.
M. Graham & Co. Artists' Watercolor - Retail Value $15.29 (found on sale here for $9.17)
My husband loves working with watercolors! His favorite thing about this paint was that the water did not overwhelm the vibrancy of the color at all, instead, it maintained a bright hue.
Princeton Synthetic Sable Round Brush - Retail Value $7
This brush was specifically designed for use with watercolors, and my husband liked it a lot. It holds a lot of paint for its small size, and it handles very well.
Faber-Castell Albrecht Durer Magnus Watercolor Pencil - Retail Value $3.99 (found on sale here for $2.39)
This is such a cool concept! You do your drawing in pencil, and then you can use a brush to go over it with water, and the pigment just melts into the paper like a watercolor! The best part is that it does not lose its vibrancy.
Art Snacks is not a project box like we sometimes review with instructions and everything, but my husband always likes to do a sample work to show what can be done with the materials provided. I love when he makes these cute little nature scenes! I think it also is pretty representative of the materials included. This also qualifies as an #artsnackschallenge, which is Art Snacks' monthly challenge to create something using only the materials provided plus paper.
Verdict: Art Snacks is always so much fun! We get to try new fine arts/drawing supplies and tools, and I think my husband really enjoys the Art Snacks Challenge! This month's value comes to $33.78, which is well above the cost of the box. That's awesome for a fine arts subscription box!
