The Subscription Box: MLB Diamond Crate by Sports Crate

The Cost: $29.99 a month + free shipping

The Products: officially licensed, team-specific items with a retail value of at least $50 that are exclusive to the box.

Good to Know: If you have been following Loot Crate (the parent company of Sports Crate), you know that shipping complaints are very common. For perspective, I was supposed to get my box so long ago I do not even know the actual day it was supposed to arrive.

Diamond Crate By Sports Crate Celebration Box Review

This box came with a small info card to detail the products included.

Celebration Tee Shirt - Estimated Value $14.99 (based on other tees sold by Sports Crate here)

I don’t know what it is about Sports Crate, but they make the softest t-shirts. This shirt quickly joined the shirt from the last box as some of my absolute favorites to wear because it is so comfortable. I think the goal was to have this box in time for the fourth of July due to the celebration theme and the fact that the shirt shows an American flag made from baseball bats and team logos, but I will still be wearing this year-round.

Team Cinch bag – Estimated Value $9.99 (based on the same item for a different team here)

This is a solid backpack—the fabric is sturdy and isn’t going to rip easily. This would be perfect for throwing in a few water bottles and a small towel to take along with you on a hike, or for any time you need some hands free help in carrying essentials.

celebration Bowl

Celebration Bowl

This sports crate-branded bowl has become my new cereal bowl and I couldn’t be happier! It is a classic and basic plastic bowl with high sides that will do a great job of holding my milk and Special K while I cheer on my favorite team.

Team Flying Disk

This is a collapsible flying disk, which we called a frisbee back in my day. I can’t quite keep it collapsed when its folded, so this would have really benefited from having a small bag to store it in. I am not much of a frisbee person due to my horrible throwing and not great hand-eye coordination, but I could definitely see tossing this around at a BBQ so I think it still fits with the overall theme.

The Verdict: There is no beating around the bush—Sports Crate does not timely ship the products they offer. I am happy this box finally arrived, however, because I absolutely love the t-shirt, the backpack, and the bowl. I can take or leave the frisbee, but I do still think it fits with the celebration theme. Sports Crate says each box should have a retail value of about $50, and I think it is pretty clear this box does not meet that threshold as the two biggest items in the shirt and the backpack have a combined estimated value of about $25. That being said, if I walked into the D-backs team shop today I would be hard pressed to walk out with a t-shirt for under $30, let alone three other items. Getting a box of officially licensed team merchandise for $29.99 is still a good deal that I am happy with, but I wish the shipping wasn’t so unreliable.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? I do believe they are still shipping the Celebration Box!

Value Breakdown: This box costs $29.99 + free shipping, which means that each of the 4 items in the box has an average cost of $7.50.

I ordered a NY Mets team box when I saw their add on Instagram. Ordered mine back in January of 2019. Box was supposed to come in February..no box.. March..still nothing. Contacted sports rate and they said they were behind but keep checking the website for ship date. Long story short I canceled the service after receiving nothing thinking it’s a scam. Well I finally got my first box “Yesterday” January 8th, 2020. I literally TOTALLY FORGOT I even ordered it. I have never seen any package take a year to be delivered. The Box has a Mets Pin for the spring training season of 2019. (Well baseball is over already and spring ball for 2020 is around the corner). It had a Luggage tag, a NY Decal sticker and a Sling Bag to carry a bat and helmet in. The bag was made by Franklin so tht was probably about $9 and was the most expensive thing in the box. I could have ordered all this stuff off amazon and had it here in two days. All in all I will never do business with this company. A Years wait and the crap in the box wasn’t even worth the wait. Only thing I’ll probably end up using is the luggage tag

I am incredibly disappointed by this product. I bought a 6 month subscription to begin in February 2019 as a gift for my husband who is a huge Angels Fan. We did not receive our first crate until the end of July. My subscription was then autorenewed. I did not cancel before the auto renewal because we still had not received our last crate and I didn’t want there to be an issue with the subscription I originally ordered. I have been since been charged for an additional 6 months. If the product was worth the money I would be fine receiving an additional set of crates however, the crates contained subpar products including an Angels gardening knee pad, a pin from spring training that we received in a September crate (my husband went to spring training a bought the pin in March when spring training actually happened), a neon green sling back bag with an Angels luggage tag to make it appear as though it was an Angels product. We also received a small towel and a lanyard. Though you are asked for clothes sizing we received no clothing in a single crate. I expected to at least receive a larger clothing item in one crate,if not all. I feel that this was a waste of time and money and am incredibly disappointed in the product. I could not recommend anyone spend their money on it.

I signed up in April for my son, who’s birthday was in July. We never received anything so in September I asked for a refund. A week later I got a box of junk from Sportscrate including a bottle opener on a lanyard for my 15 year old son. Do not waste your money or time with this company. The fact that there is no phone number for customer service should tell you all you need to know.

I ordered the 6 month subscription in November 2018 and then ordered a 12 month subscription in December 2018. Only one crate has been received to date. I sent a message to customer service. I think that I should have most of my money refunded, as they did not deliver as described. Right now, I can not recommend that anybody buy into this.

Because I gave this as a gift, I am not sure how many boxes we did not receive. I think he received 3 for my year subscription. I just received the April box with a tailgate towel instead of a beach towel that was supposed to be in the box. Still waiting on the June box that was promised in July and still has not come. I am pretty sure they owe me some money back or another year for free.

My girlfriend order this for me for a Christmas present. After she had been charged multiple times, I finally received a box in May. She said I’m supposed to receive a shirt or a hat in the box, but no hat or shirt was in the box. Now it is July, still have not received any other boxes.

Do not order this! Everything was great the first 6 months, now we havent received a box since December. We keep receiving emails saying they will be late, and we haven’t received a single box since. I have canceled and we are still waiting on a spring training box and 3 other months which I doubt we will ever get. This is ridiculous and a waste of time and money.

I ordered the Cubs for my daughter. I like the bag and the bowl. The shirt is okay. I wouldn’t pay more than the cost of this box for these items. Actually this time of year baseball stuff is starting to be marked down. I received a Cubs hoodie from Kohls for $12 back in May.
