New BoxyCharm Upgrade: BoxyLuxe Coming This Fall + More Information!

BoxyCharm has released more information about BoxyLuxe! (Thanks for the heads up, Barbora!) FYI - this isn't available yet, but we'll let you know as soon as you can sign up for it! (And you can sign up for updates here!)

This is a once-a-quarter upgrade option you can add to your existing $21-a-month Boxycharm subscription. So for an additional $28.99, you'll get the Luxe items, and be paying a total of $49.99 for that quarterly box.

The Box: BoxyLuxe

The Cost: $49.99 (This is quarterly. If you are a monthly $21-a-month subscriber, one month every quarter you will pay $49.99 instead of $21.)

Since BoxyLuxe is an upgrade to your original subscription, you will be paying your normal subscription amount, $21/month if you have the monthly subscription, plus you will pay for the upgrade, which is $28.99 every March, June, September, and December.

The Products: Each box will be valued at over $300. The box will include lifestyle, skincare, beauty, etc.

Good to know: This box option is only available to current Charmers. (Make sure to sign up and stay subscribed if you want to opt into BoxyLuxe!)

I think this is a poorly thought out schedule for buyers. Autumn/Winter party season starts with Halloween and finishes up with New Years. Lots of “glam/party” products are released for the winter season (at least, on the West coast) and there isn’t much point in acquiring them in late December when there’s only New Year’s left before switching to early Spring palettes. Even targeted skincare changes with the seasons. I suppose from the suppliers point of view its a good way to unload seasonal product. But from a buyers perspective, its not such a good deal. I’ll be curious to see the contents of these boxes in this forum.

My assumption is that they are for the next season, like september box is for winter, december box is for spring, etc. Could be wrong I havnt even looked at the luxe box before today.

** NEW CONFIRMED CHANGED TO LUXE BOX **

Yosef posted an Instagram story changing what comes in BoxyLuxe.

We no longer will be getting the entire Sept. regular box in the Luxe box…only the first 3 spoilers. The 2 variation products We Will Not get now. Confirmed 10 products in the Luxe box, but no spoiler as to what is in it.

No matter what those products are, we should not be losing 2 of the products we pay for in the regular box to get the Luxe box. I think we should all email Boxycharm now and let them know we want ALL the products we’re paying for in our regular box, plus the added products we are paying an additional $28.99 to get.

I’m super frustrated because I ended up cancelling my regular BoxyCharm subscription just 2 days ago and now having found out that you need to be a current subscriber in order to get the luxe box!?!? I loved my monthly BoxyCharm box, but I had to cancel dur to trying to save money. I was planning on resubscribing in a few months (or if there was spoilers for a box that I just had to have…I do love the party animal pallet though too). But I was still planning on subscribing to the luxe box. Now I’m wondering if I resubscribe now will it let me do the luxe box upgrade or will they say I need to be subscribed to the regular one for so long? I had been a subscriber for over a year. I really wish they’d let you do the luxe box without being currently subscribed to the regular one….grrrrr

The spoiler that you would HAVE to get the August box to sign up for Luxe one has been out for a long time…

This luxe box poses a concern for Canadian subscribers.

Currently, the box is valued one the customs form at $20 CAD to avoid customs fees, duties and taxes.

(For the record, FFF is the only sub that has high value merch and manages to avoid customs fees for customers! Canadians get hosed on subs like Glossybox – so I’m not sure if FFF has their own customs brokerage deal/prepays for Canadians?)

Liz – can you confirm if Canadian subscribers will have the Luxe option – and if so, how the shipping/ customs clearance will be handled?

I got this too, and while I’m excited about it, the fact that they say it will sell out fast kind of sucks. They should have enough to accommodate all the current loyal subscribers, or at least about 75% of them. They know their regulars will want this. Or give the ones who have 1+ years in first dibs. Sometimes you can’t just stop everything to click a link.

Also, when you opt in, will you have to pay immediately, or with your regular sub billing?

I’ve done the quiz but it didn’t say anything about watching for an email or about boxylux. Sigh, I hope it doesn’t mean I’m gonna miss out on it! I hope it isn’t going to turn out like the Limited Edition box.

I did the quiz but didn’t get an email. I had to use the link on Instagram (Liz also posted above) to sign up for notifications for Boxy Luxe. At first I did not receive a confirmation either. After I updated my account to be something other than Hotmail, I re-signed up for the Boxy Luxe notifications AND got a confirmation email. I’d try those steps. I don’t know if it will truly be a secret link to sign up or if you will just be able to log into your account on the day the signup goes live (as long as you know about it). Either way, I’d err on the side of caution. 🙂

Oh! I also added Boxycharm to my VIP list on my phone so that when an email is finally sent, I will get a notification just like a text message.

i didn’t get an email either, but i went on instragram, and was able to get the link from their insta story, if you swipe up on the vdo it will take you to where you can sign up for updates. Also, i might add I first time i signed up for updates i used one of my yahoo mail, but i didn’t get any email from them. Second time i signed up to their updates i used my gmail email and boom i got an email from them right away.

I’m starting to wonder if there aren’t problems with Boxycharm’s website and Microsoft email I.e. hotmail. Some websites are not designed browser and/or device agnostic. It is weird to see with email though. I did try multiple browsers first.

I updated my email address to gmail and then signed up again for boxylux updates. Bam! Email received!!!

For privacy reasons I can’t ask folks about emails but maybe folks who aren’t getting it could try that? 🙂

Liz, can you confirm if all active subscribers will have the option to upgrade to Luxe? It looks like only certain people are getting emails?

I’m concerned because I haven’t been getting any communications from Boxycharm other than shipping notifications. I had problems a month or two ago even getting the password reset to work. Customer service had to fix something on my account.

IF you have facebook, go to Boxys page. There is a video about the new box and there is a link to click. Once you do that, you put in your email address and name, then you should get the email. I’m assuming only if you are a current subscriber, that will work, if you are.

I have the same concern because I haven’t gotten an email either. I’m a long time subscriber but I wonder if they’re treating this like a beta/test run and only sending a certain number of invitations.

You can tell a LOT just from the questions they ask…what’s your skin tone, undertone, foundation, way more in-depth questions! I believe the Luxe boxes will have foundation &/ or concealer…check it out & let me know your thoughts pretties😘🌹💗💋

I actually think the quality of the items will be much better not because the price or box size is bigger but because fewer people will subscribe to the Luxe box because of the price and so Boxycharm will be able to include items that they couldn’t put in previously as they didn’t have enough to go around.

They need to put out some spoilers asap. Because an additional almost $30 is kind of steep. I waited forever to finally sign up and my first three boxes haven’t been mind blowing. But I’m willing to stick it out if this turns out to be really, really good.

$50 feels steep for a box whose products tend to be hit and miss since they don’t personalize to skin tone/skin care needs. I’ll see what comes out first and decide later.

I was excited about the upgrade, but now that I know it will include lifestyle items, hair products, and skin care products I’m feeling a little apprehensive. Those are my least favorite products to get in my subscription boxes. Boxy has been my favorite for 3 years because they send out mostly makeup. Not really wanting to pay extra to get products that don’t excite me. If I wanted those I’d do Glossybox, Fabfitfun, Rachel Zoe, ect. I get enough skin care in my birchbox, sephora play, and even Ipsy. I’ll try it for a month and see what happens though.

SO NOW MY QUESTION IS THIS…….
the brand spoilers they did a month or two back (KVD, Hank & Henry, etc.) – will those items be in the regular Boxy, or BoxyLuxe?
Part of me is proud of them for attempting something different, and part of me is thinking this is a chaotic train wreck in the making.

Pretty sure you get whatever you’d get in the regular box plus extra items if you upgrade. If they sent entirely different items they’d have to offer people the option to order the regular box plus the luxe box 4 times a year.

I actually wish Boxy would let you sign up for JUST the 4 boxes. I’m always on makeup overload and would rather swap for the selected things I want, but I would allow myself the 4 Luxe boxes, especially if they had luxe full-size skincare.

ALSO, if they could make their Luxe months DIFFERENT MONTHS than literally every other quarterly lifestyle box, that’d be amazing.

I know these things won’t happen but… a girl can dream right?

I 100% agree! I cancelled my subscription because I felt like I didn’t need more random makeup, especially because I felt like so much of it was low-end, and when it wasn’t it was stuff that went on clearance the same week. I would totally go for a quarterly luxe box, but not if I have to subscribe for a full year.

If this starts in September and you choose to upgrade every quarter this is how you’ll be charged:

Sept = $49.99
Oct = $21
Nov = $21
Dec = $49.99
Jan = $21
Feb = $21
Mar = $49.99
Apr = $21
May = $21
June = $49.99
July = $21
Aug = $21

They said they would send an email out to the current subscribers before the Sept. billing letting you know to upgrade to Luxe if you want to. It will be billed with the $49.99 total, which will include that month’s regular Boxycharm products PLUS a bunch of new stuff.

*** NOTE: If you get the BoxyLuxe in Sept. and stay subscribed, it will be billed automatically every quarter for the Luxe box. If you don’t want it again, Make Sure to go cancel the Luxe part in your account before the next (Dec.) Luxe box. You will still get your regular box unless you cancel that too.

I hope this clears up some of the confusion. I heard it from Yosef himself in an interview, so I know it’s true and how he said it will work. 🙂

This may have been asked already but I’ll admit I didn’t read through all the comments. What if you subscribe for 6 months at a time? My renewal is coming up in september for another 6 months so if I upgrade will I be charged $49.99 (sep luxe) + $21 x 4 (oct, nov, jan, feb) + $49.99 (dec luxe)? Sorry that is out of order but my thinking is since there will be 2 luxe boxes in the 6 month period I will pay for if I upgrade will I automatically get the upgrade for December too or will I need to tell them if I want the december luxe or not? Maybe this is a question for Boxycharm I’m not sure how many of us out there are 6 month prepayers
