My Fashion Crate August 2018 Review

I like that they included this insert which gives descriptions of the items and lists their value. The front side is everything you will receive in the Essentials box while the back also shows what you get in the Premium box.

White-Pink Stripe Off the Shoulder Dress by Loveriche, Size L- Listed Value $58

Yay! They were able to send me a size large this month! (For more on that read last month's review.) This dress was very lightweight and the pastel stripes on white fabric definitely gave it a summer vibe. I styled it both with the sleeves up, which looked a little silly at the collar and I also tried to style it with my shoulders out as it was shown in the picture on the card. It was a little tight across my bust when I had my shoulders out though so I don't think it looked that great on me.

I didn't include the picture I took from the back because you could see through it, even though I was wearing very light colored underwear. The other issue is that even though this is my size, it was very short on me. I am 5'7" and even just a slight forward lean was too much. So, unfortunately, this was another clothing miss for me!

Beau Undies One Month Free Gift Card- Retail Value $13.99

Included this month was a gift card for one free month of a Beau Undies subscription. Each month you will receive two pairs of underwear shipped to your door. It was incredibly easy to sign up and you can choose between cheeky, thong, or mixed underwear in sizes XS-XL. For this free month, I just had to pay $3.27 for shipping. I like that rather than including underwear for us, we were able to select our own preferences by signing up on our own. I can't speak to quality yet as I haven't received mine as of publication, but I'm excited to see what they send. A cool thing about Beau Undies is that they will donate a pair for every post on Instagram with the hashtag #SubscriptionOnAMission. Very cool.

Leaf Bracelet by Jewels by Durrani - Listed Value $42

I couldn't find this exact bracelet listed on their site, so I'm wondering if maybe it's exclusive? This bracelet is completely my style - a simple gold chain with a subtle design. From My Fashion Crate "Just like a leaf, when we allow positive light and happiness into our lives, we too thrive and advance as individuals. Wear this gorgeous accessory to remind yourself to stay positive and soak up as much as you can from life so you too can grow and flourish." Call me cheesy, but I like when jewelry has meaning and this is a great positive message. They also included a coupon for $25 off your purchase of $75 or more at Jewels by Durrani.

The bracelet itself is so light and the leaf is completely flat so it is very comfortable to wear. The chain is actually quite long and you can see it's still a little loose even on one of the tightest settings. This is a fun piece that I'm happy to add to my jewelry box!

Blossom Floral Compact by Manna Kadar - Retail Value $29

Raise your hand if you're surprised to see Manna Kadar in a subscription box! But really, this is one MK product that I haven't ever received and something I was happy to see. The sleek black compact contains both blush and highlighter, two items I have plenty of, but will always gladly accept more of!

Look how pretty this compact is! The colors are nice and shimmery and had a decent amount of pigment to them when worn.

Here they are swatched from top to bottom. The lightest color doesn't show up well on its own, but it actually gave just enough shimmer when I wore them all together. I was pleasantly surprised at what a nice pink glow this gave me (I am wearing it in the pictures with the dress, FYI). I also love that it's a two in one product.

Rose Gold Lint Roller by Flint- Retail Value $9.99

Well, I never ever thought I would say that a lint roller was cute, but look at this thing! The metallic rose gold is so pretty and this is compact enough to keep in your purse or car for when you need it.

I love the retractable design which means everything won't stick to the sheets like it tends to do with traditional rollers. This includes 30 sheets and they even have refills available on their website. I think this is a great, practical item for any fashionista!

Fabric Care Wash by Forever New, 4 oz Bottle - Retail Value $3.50

Since they send so many clothing items, it makes perfect sense that they would send this fabric wash! It is an organic blend that will gently clean your clothes. This is in granular form and it has instructions for hand washing which is perfect since a lot of the items that they send are fairly delicate. They also included a coupon for 20% off your order.

The following items are only in the Premium Box:

Bond Wallet by Deux Lux in Navy- Listed Value $65

I wasn't able to find this exact wallet on their website, but they have so many other cute options! I love the woven design of this wallet and the navy color with gold accents. It looks like subscribers could have also received a white or red version, but this is the color I prefer, so I'm happy! The outside is super soft while the interior has a nice ivory colored lining complete with golden dogs and logos.

This is like the Russian doll of wallets- each pocket opened up to reveal more and more pockets! I'm not even sure what you'd use that last tiny pocket for, but I like it! I could just barely get this zipped closed with my iPhone 7 plus (with a case) inside it, but there is still plenty of room for cards, receipts and cash and probably even a lipgloss.

Verdict: I think this was my favorite box so far from My Fashion Crate! I loved the mix of practical items and that everything was just so pretty- lint roller included! The colors and gold accents throughout the box really felt summery to me for some reason and I loved it. While I just can't seem to get it right with the clothing items, I will definitely use everything else in this box. Plus, I still have some pretty undies on their way to me, so that will be a nice addition to this collection of items.

The total for the Premium box comes to $221.49 this month, which I think is a great value for a $54.90 ($49.95 + $4.95 shipping) box. As for the Essentials box, the value is $156.49 which is still a great value for a $39.95 ($35 + $4.95 shipping) box. When comparing the two subscriptions, for $14.95 extra for the Premium box we received the Deux Lux wallet valued at $65.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, if you order before the 15th you can still receive the August box. From My Fashion Crate:

All packages ship on the 2nd week of the month. Your package takes 3~5 days to arrive after the notification email. Shipping takes a few days longer for Canada and International orders.

Is this an Australian company? It looks like they are knocking off Nadine West for the United States

That dress is really short. Try it over jeggings.

Hi, I have to say I think the dress looks adorable on you and would look great worn as a tunic with some leggings (I love me some leggings lol). I liked the sleeves up, did not think it looked weird at all! I don’t think I would like a box where they pick out clothing for me that I would get stuck with (unless it was a kimono which I am still waiting for my cause box I ordered using your coupon!). But I did like all the other items! Loved that compact and the colors looked really pretty on you 😊

Great review.
If you’re stuck keeping the dress maybe you could use it as a tunic, I have some shirts that I have to wear a minimizer bra with to like the fit. TJ Maxx, Marshall’s & Ross are great places for good but cheap bras.

I thought the dress was a swim cover at first so it might work to wear to the pool or beach.

Another great idea! Thanks! 🙂

Brandi

That’s a great idea! You know I shop at those stores all the time, but never think to try their bras! I’ll have to check them out next time! Thanks, Anna! 🙂
