Luxe Catch Bargain Box August 2018 Review

August’s theme is “Last SunDaze” and “is all about embracing the last golden rays of summer, and we're sending you a box filled with perfect picks for the #sunsetgram, rooftop drinks with the setting sun, and garden parties.” Orders for this box were July 1-31 (shipped in August).

Luxe Catch August 2018 - Dress Front

BCBGMAXAZRIA Karlyn Asym Dress, Size M - Retail Price $178

So, for the August “Last SunDaze” theme, I thought I’d get something like a gauzy dress or linen pants, but I actually received this slinky BCBGMAXAZRIA dress. The slate-blue shade definitely makes me think of fall, but this really is a transitional dress (in our hot weather). The cut is asymmetrical and hits from above the knee to about midi length at the longest part. The fabric is an acetate/nylon/spandex mix that feels slinky and cool.

Luxe Catch August 2018 - Dress Back Luxe Catch August 2018 - Dress Back 2

The panel of fabric around the top of the dress does two things. First, it acts as an extra layer, which means I can get away with going without a bra. Yay! And two, it adds the visual interest of something like a cape. The split in the back gives it lots of movement.

Luxe Catch August 2018 - Dress Straps

Here is where I question if this dress is right for me. The straps are made of a leather-like material and are nice and sturdy. But, they seem to not lay flat on me. I found images of this dress style both with the straps crossed in the front and back, which gives you some options, but they just don’t sit quite right on my very rounded shoulders. What do you think?

Luxe Catch August 2018 - Tag

Here’s a breakdown of the savings on this dress. It sells for $178 and I got it for $50. That’s a 72% savings. That’s pretty great!

The Verdict: Luxe Catch certainly came through on value again this month. The dress is of very nice quality and feels so lovely on. Plus, I think it would work well now and into the fall months. I’m not sure if my style profile steered my catch away from the super summery look that was teased in the emails, but this is certainly my style, so I can’t complain. My only reservation is the straps and if they are distracting from the whole chic look. September is going to be the month of denim, which I live for, so I’m super excited to see what is picked for me!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? The “Last SunDaze” box sign up period has passed but you can check out the current theme on their Insta feed. September’s theme is “Denim Lovers!”

I’m surprised there’s so much dislike for this item! For the price subscribers are paying, Luxe Catch is shipping high-quality, branded designer pieces that they definitely couldn’t get for the same price at other places. And the surprise element adds to the appeal — you get a fashion advisor who’ll help you push your style to new heights.

In the month this box was shipped out, I got a black and white print wrap BCBG dress that I’ve already worn multiple times — it’s been a great work to dinner item, and I love it!

It’s important with this subscription to make sure your style profile is an accurate representation of your actual personal style, so you’ll get the items that match your personal preferences.

This company is a rip off. They buy the cheap leftover fashion and sell it has ‘designer’ as you can see the woman looks terrible in that dress. They dont match profile styles at all. I received the ugliest clothing and they dont do refunds, they dont do exchanges. I have filed a complaint with the attorney general of New York. $250.00 plus shipping is alot to loose ………You should go with Stitch Fix they do refunds and exchanges the way that reputable business’ operate. They dont sent you garbage and then not let you return it. WARNING!!
they tell you that you should have read the fine print but have no interest in customer service or making their clients happy.

I hate to say it but my favorite part of this outfit is your shoes! They are beautiful. IMO, the dress looks a little long and big on you. I think you’re gorgeous and the dress doesn’t do you justice. If you love the dress though, I’d have the straps altered. I think they are an interesting touch.

I think the dress looks good on you,I would have the straps ajust to compilment your shoulders, the split in back is a added feature, that looks modern and frsh!

I tried this sub after your review last month. While I do feel what was sent was a good value, I do not feel like it met the style profile I filled out at all. I could have dealt with this if I felt the dress they sent was flattering on me. IMO- it is not. It is still a very nice dress, but just not for me. So unfortunately what was sent, is up for swap. While Marshalls and TJ max do carry name brand stuff (i often shop at Marshalls and find awesome stuff a lot) I don’t think what they sent me at least would be found at these type of stores. I felt more like what I got would have been from a saks fifth avenue outlet. In regards to this current review.. I do like the color of this dress they sent you, but I have to agree with others who noted it kind of seems to swallow you.

I thought the straps were for hanging it up. I like the color, but those weird straps and the amount of fabric just looks a little off to me. I agree with some of the other comments that it’s just not that flattering. I have seen you wear jeans and a t-shirt and look fabulous, so I think it’s just the style of the dress.

I’m not digging the dress at all. You can do much better. You’re a beautiful girl you don’t need to hide under a shoulderless, strappy trash bag. You are stunning the dress not so much.

Are the straps even necessary? If you can’t tame them, could you just cut them off? I know I’ve removed bows, buttons, pins, etc. from clothes and improve the look significantly. Sometimes the idea & executions don’t work out.

Tiffany you can get that same dress at TJ Max for 9.99. It urks me to see you spend so much on a dress that is so much lower somewhere else TJ Max carries a boat load of name brand items and also lots of Bcbg clothes too

Can you though? I looked up this dress and it’s still selling for more than she paid for the sub cost. Sure, you can get a lot of designer name brands at TJ Maxx, but I couldn’t find this particular dress, much less at 9.99. If it was, it’d probably be at least $30

Maybe try some double sided fashion tape for the straps, if not you could easily get them altered. I really like the choices they’ve sent you so far.

I will be honest. I do not think this dress faltering your beauty.

I agree. You are lovely but the dress is swallowing you up.

Looks beautiful on you! I would get the straps shortened.

Jessica

It looks like the straps need to be slightly shorter for your frame! I LOVE that dress on you though!

When I saw the pic I thought the straps were from your bra, until I read your copy. They don’t seem to go with the style of the dress, but you look good in it, and you matched the shoes nicely. It would be a fun sub if I could afford the risk of getting something I may not like.

That’s the same thing I thought. It looked like a fancy bra under the dress. I don’t think this dress gives you justice. You’re a beautiful girl and I’ve seen you in much better outfits. The front of the dress is nice and I love the color but the back is a little odd with what looks like wings. I’m certainly not an authority on fashion but you asked for honest opinions.
