Grove Collaborative August 2018 Review

When I first signed up, I was eligible to get a 4-piece Mrs. Myers gift set! I already use and love Mrs. Myers, so I was pretty pumped. I'd also receive a 60 day trial of their VIP membership that includes free shipping. All I had to do was spend a minimum of $20.00 to collect it.

There was also this little bonus of a Grove Collaborative Glass Spray Bottle for signing up. I'm such a sucker for reusable glass bottles.

Here is everything in my cart. I was even able to choose the scent I wanted for the Mrs. Myers products and the color of the spray bottle. I combed through TONS of products before settling on a purchase that totaled $26.28.

With your first order, you'll receive a welcome card that thanks you for your order and has contact info for Annee, your "Grove Guide".

There's also a packing list that shows everything in your order.

Here are all of the items I received totally free once I placed the $20.00 minimum order. I'm a little embarrassed to say how truly geeked I was on this. I love tidying and getting these beautifully designed and eco-friendly items free of charge really excited me. This set has a retail value of $28.57.

Mrs. Myers Clean Day Dish Soap in Basil, 16 oz.- Retail Value $3.89

Here's a silly anecdote about dish soap: I moved into my house in June of 2014 and there were several odds and ends left there by the previous owners. One was a HUGE bottle of dish soap from a membership club and being the single lady I am, it took me about four years to use it all. Now that I am free from the shackles of the discarded dish soap that I felt inclined to use up, I can choose my own! I FEEL SO ALIVE! Cut to: my favorite scent of Mrs. Myers', Basil! It's so fresh and lovely! The simple package and easy-to-dispense nozzle make this a winner sink-side.

Mrs. Myers Clean Day Multi-Surface Everday Cleaner in Basil, 16 oz. - Retail Value $3.89

Another no-brainer for me was to re-up the multi-surface cleaner I already use at home. I actually have a large bottle of the concentrate of this stuff so I can reuse the spray bottles I have, but it's great to get another to place in a needed area of the house. This is definitely my most-used cleaning product.

Mrs. Myers Clean Day Hand Soap in Basil, 12.5 oz. - Retail Value $3.89

Another house fave of mine (and also of the MSA office) is this hand soap. Yep, the same scent for me. I like consistency! I have this in my bathroom and next to my sink and love the smell it leaves behind on my clean hands. It's made with olive oil and aloe vera to keep your hands soft and moisturized. There are also larger refill bottles of this available to cut down on the plastic you'd be using by ordering more pumps.

Grove Collaborative Walnut and Cellulose Scrubber Sponges, 2 ct - Retail Value $3.95

The first free gift that is a Grove Collaborative product is this pack of 2 sponges. I use almost the exact same thing that I buy from a different natural brand. Cleaning nerd hack: I cut these in half since I rarely need a sponge full size to use for washing dishes. It stretches these to double the count! The brown scrubby side gets the hard crud off your dishes while the soft white sponge side wipes away the goop. Sturdy lil fellas.

Grove Collaborative Glass Spray Bottle with Silicone Sleeve in Grey, 16 oz. - Retail Value $12.95

Ok, lemme geek out on this lovely glass spray bottle that comes with a removable silicone sleeve, if I may. I got to choose the color I wanted (#allgreyeverything) so that it matches my white and grey home. The thick glass comes with a plastic spray nozzle that has an "off" setting as well as a "stream" and "spray" setting. Perfect. The silicone sleeve allows it to keep a grip on the counter so it doesn't slide off and break, but you can remove it for easier cleaning. I am not blessed with a dishwasher, but both the bottle and sleeve are dishwasher safe (they ask that you hand wash the nozzle). So, I have my concentrate of Mrs. Myers I can use in this, but I decided to go on ahead and try their concentrated tubes of all-purpose cleaner below...

Grove Collaborative Concentrated All Purpose Cleaner, 2 ct - Retail Value $5.95

Instead of shipping large bottles of liquid around the country, it's a great idea to get these smaller tubes of concentrated cleaner that cuts down on the packaging and the potential mess. Plus, these are "single serving" tubes so I don't need to measure anything. I just snap off the cap and squeeze the contents into my glass spray bottle and dilute with water. I've switched from my normal Mrs. Myers to this one for the last week and have been pleased with the orange & rosemary scent as well as the cleanliness. I can also toss these in the small compartment drawer below my sink instead of taking up a ton of space with the larger items. Saving space can be important! There are also little "A" stickers included that denote that it's "All-purpose" in case you use their other cleaners as well and need to know the difference.

Grove Collaborative Organic Cotton Rounds, 80 ct - Retail Value $3.95

Since I felt like I had a lot of cleaning products down with this order, I decided to get some organic cotton rounds from Grove's own label. I normally would buy whatever is cheapest at my local drug store but settling on organic cotton makes me feel a lot better about using these on my face to remove makeup. They're hypoallergenic and super soft too.

Grove Collaborative Organic Cotton Swabs, 180 ct - Retail Value $3.95

Another organic product item I decided to go for was these cotton swabs. The cotton is grown in the USA using ethical farming and the stick is biodegradable. I normally buy the big name brand cotton swabs because I find them a bit more full than others, but these felt soft and comfortable in use.

Grove Collaborative Reusable Storage Bag Essentials Set - Retail Value $10.95

I keeping thinking about switching over to more reusable items for everyday use and these storage bags are a great start to replacing plastic bags for food storage or snacking on the go. The set comes with three sizes of bags that are food-safe, BPA free, and leak-proof. I chose the ones with this cute blue pattern but they have clear ones as well. When they arrived, I was impressed with the quality. I wasn't expecting them to be as sturdy as they are.

Reusable Storage Bag - Large (11.81" x 10.31" x 4.33")

The biggest one can fit so much! I originally bought these for food, but immediately thought this one would be great for travel. I think it'd be especially helpful for sweaty gym clothes or a trip to the beach to toss your wet bathing suit into on the way home.

Reusable Storage Bag - Medium (8.19" x 7.99" x 0.16")

My mind went right for makeup/toiletries with this one. Especially for flying, I get paranoid that I'm going to arrive at my destination with shampoo oozing everywhere, but this would calm those thoughts. As you can see, there's a nice amount of room for anything that could potentially get messy, even if you just wanna pop this into your daily tote bag so lipstick doesn't ruin the inside. This also is perfect for a homemade sandwich though too, so I could toss it in my purse knowing that mayo wouldn't be a problem.

Reusable Storage Bag - Small (6.97" x 4.64" x 2.76")

Last but not least, there is the small snack bag. If you are packing a lunch for yourself, or others, this is great for fruit or a healthy portion of popcorn.

After you receive your first shipment, Grove Collaborative will automatically set up recurring shipments with suggested times of the products you ordered, plus make suggestions on products you may want to consider so you'll need to sign into your account to make any changes to frequency or items. You can do so in the "Products Subscriptions" section, or view your cart to see what will be coming on your next shipment. You do not have to order every month, but all future orders will need to hit a minimum dollar amount ($10 for recurring shipments, $15 for "Ship Now" plans for VIP members, $30 for "Ship Now" plans for non-VIP members) and shipping will either be free (if you spend $19.99 to keep the VIP membership after the 60 day trial) or a flat $2.99 no matter how big the order is. I'd also like to add that they have a really robust FAQ that clearly explains everything and is really searchable.

Verdict: My introductory box from Grove Collaborative only cost me $26.28 this time around for $53.37 worth of products because of all the free gifts I got when signing up. I thought all of the products I received were of really high quality and I could rest assured that they are all-natural and free of harmful chemicals that are found in other big name brands. If you're looking to buy products for your home that "prioritize social, environmental, and community wellbeing", then Grove Collaborative is a great way to achieve that since it's a Certified B Corp. The fact that you can set up recurring shipments and edit with ease is great for people who have a larger household and/or prefer getting products shipped straight to their home (especially if they easily forget to restock).

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? You sure can, but you can also customize it any way you'd like with hundreds of products.

Value Breakdown: At $26.28 for this order, here's what you're paying for each item:

  • Dish Soap: $1.92
  • Multi-Surface Cleaner: $1.92
  • Hand Soap: $1.92
  • Sponges: $1.95
  • Glass Spray Bottle: $6.38

I absolutely love this subscription! Some of the products I particularly like are the Mrs Meyers cleaning products which work well and smell heavenly. I also like the Grove cleaning concentrates – they come in 1 oz tubes and you add them to your spray bottle when you’re ready to use them – a great way to have extra cleaning supplies without taking up a lot of room. The TP is not made from trees and it takes the right mind set to get used to because it is not bulky. At first it feels like cheap paper but I quickly realized I don’t need all the bulk with this TP to get the job done. There are always freebies and interesting new products. I can’t say enough good things about this company.

I buy many products from this great company. Love their products and superb cs. I bought a candle I wasnt crazy about. When they read my review, they gave me a $15 store credit. Mrs Meyers dryer sheets are to die for although some people don’t like the papery feel. Long lasting beautiful scents.

I’ve bern subscribed for months. No issues, no spam. You can choose your next delivery date, pick your own products, get useful freebies, etc. I just cancelled to see how easy it is. So easy.

Customer service is top notch. Never had an issue.

I hate shopping and the less I have to go out and do the better (thanks to food sub boxes I almost cut out grocery shopping entirely) plus I already had hand soap and dish soap on my list so I just signed up. My additional free gift (on top of the 4 Mrs. Myers items) was a cleaning caddy (looks like an oblong bucket with a handle). I figured I’d try it out for awhile with these glowing reviews….and free stuff. Ugh. Like I needed another sub. LOL.

I have been using grove for about 6 months and have absolutely loved them so far. I can adjust my orders as necessary and love the freebies! Less to worry about at the grocery store!

I used this service for a year or so and recently cancelled to switch to honest co essentials. Here is my feedback for anyone looking for experiences:
1) the free trial and free gift are totally worth it. I feel guilty if I just take the free gift and run so i elected to do the vip service when the trial ran out, the prices seemed fair for the product and I use the product, so why not
2) i liked the idea of the service adding suggested items to the cart monthly and me going in and removing if i wanted, however I didn’t find that it was helpful at all. Example I ordered a tub scrubbing brush one month, then the next month it was in my suggested cart. It seemed to just mirror what you ordered last time. No real sense of discovery there.
3) over time i realized the prices weren’t really better than what you can get on target or amazon, which you don’t have to remember to opt out of
4) customer service is really nice and tries to help out.

At the end of the day the value wasn’t there for me, but it’s a good service

Their Seedling line is made in China!!!!!!

This is a good company. You don’t get inundated with soliciting emails and the actual products are phenomenal. I only canceled due to having enough product. The process was easy and without hassle (unlike Box of Style, which took me 3-4 months of constant communication). If you’re new, get Caldrea! They are incredible.

There are different codes to use if y’all search online. I got a free apron, walnut scrubbers, a glass spray bottle and a big kitchen towel. The cleaning products I purchased smells ridiculously good. I’m hoping to stay subscribed with them. I used to use amazon subscription for my cleaning products, but the prices are better with grove. And a lot of times the prices would fluctuate 50% higher.

Where are you finding these codes??

I have never had a single problem with them in over 2 years. they send reminders so it’s easy to adjust or postpone shipments, everything is great quality, and I have never been charged incorrectly. I also HIGHLY recommend the Peony scented Mrs. Myers hand soap when available. I walk around smelling my hands for about 15 minutes lol

i’ve been getting shipments from grove for a few months now, my VIP actually ended this month. i won’t renew it, but i’m sad about it. i really enjoyed getting the monthly shipments and renewing the products i need. plus, i do love the free gifts! i’ll still order from them, just not monthly deliveries. never had a bad experience on any of the orders, the products were great, shipping quick, and though i didn’t have need to contact customer service, they seemed to be on point.

I’ve been using Grove for about a year now, I love the Mrs Meyers promo sets they put together each season.

They ALWAYS email me a few days before a shipment goes out. You can edit or cancel the shipment up until the ship date. I’ve never had a problem with them sending me things I don’t want or not knowing that they were going to charge my card. It’s very easy to manage.

They price match, I’ve gotten some nice freebies from them and the shipping is always super quick. I have zero complaints.

This has A LOT of bad reviews on FB. Many people say that even though they cancelled they would randomly get billed for many many months afterwards. Was going to jump but not now.

Reply ButtonReply

Shannon

That’s odd…the only thing you have to cancel that you would be billed for is the annual VIP. Otherwise, you just go into your cart and delete any items in there and push back dates. There’s no auto monthly amount to pay in that case. You just ask them to cancel your subscription so nothing accidentally gets put in there. I wonder if FB reviews were trolling or if there was a glich at one time. It’s not like a regular sub box.
Regardless, I just cancelled because we’re all stocked up for a while. I can let you know how it goes 🙂
I would totally sign up for VIP again if I needed product, I’m just going to wait.
They even have price matched Amazon pantry and add ons for me, in the past.

Reply ButtonReply

Ks

Actually, they make it very clear when you unsub from VIP that you will still get monthly deliveries unless you want to unsub from that as well. I just unsubbed to see what the process is like. It’s just like other monthly subs. People get mad because they didn’t read.

i signed up . But FYI the additional free item is not the glass sprayer anymore it’s a towel . I believe it’s a dish towel /tea towel . I forgot exactly but you can choose between three colors .

Reply ButtonReply

Tat

This sounds good. But, nope. You have to give up your email just to look around. Which is an invitation to spam, and trying forever to unsubscribe. So, nope.

Reply ButtonReply

Shannon

Hey! It may have been mentioned, but with the VIP membership, you also get 4 free gifts throughout the year AND they price match! I love too that the minimum is $10 for free shipping AND it is very very easy to control the monthly shipments. you can go in and delete items for the next several months if you don’t want to have to think about it.
I did another subscription in the past for clothing that if you had only a few days to go in and adjust and if you didn’t order, it still charged you. This is not like that at all. Grove provides a really great experience.

Reply ButtonReply

Shawn

Funny story…well now it is. I had put over $400 in my cart and forgot all about it! Yep….the box they delivered was huge and so heavy. I almost fainted when I realized what had happened.
I agree they provide a good experience. I most definitely will make another purchase in a couple of years. When I use up the items in my $400 order. LOL

oh my!! I worry about that when I’m playing around on Amazon! I guess it can happen. 🙁
