Enchantment Box “Mythical Mermaid” August 2018 Review

Here is the info sheet on the items in the box, along with coupons for the brands included.

Between the Sea and Stars by Chantral Gadoury,

Between the Sea and Stars by Chantal Gadoury – Retail Value $15.89

This fantasy novel is set in the world of Merrow, where lust and greed abound both on land and under the water. I am only a few chapters in so far, and the story is moving a bit slow for my taste. I do think Chantal Gadoury is great with her descriptions of the fantasy world of Merrow, and I am excited to see what becomes of our heroine, Lena.

From Amazon:

A Legend,
A Magical Shell
A Girl Who Dreamed Of Something More…

Lena, a Merrow girl, lives in the Skagerrak sea with her father, Carrick and her brother, Javelin who tells her of the legend of the Merrow Queen murdered by her human lover when greed takes over. But what’s worth spilling the queen’s blood? Gifted from Poseidon, himself, a magic shell gives any human the ability to control both land and sea.

When Javelin is called to join a clan of Merrow soldiers bent on protecting their waters from human invasion, Lena resists Merrow law and ventures to the shore with no choice but to swim to land.

With newfound legs, Lena is whisked away on a new adventure with new friends and new trouble. Everyone seems to want something from her as intrigue lurks around every corner.

Trying her best to hide who she is and remain safe from the dangers of the human world, will Lena finally find where she belongs, or will she be swept into a strong and stormy current by lust, greed, and jealousy?

Dermasuri Deep Exfoliating Body Mitt,

Dermasuri Deep Exfoliating Body Mitt – Retail Value $19.99

This mitt is supposed to provide some intense body exfoliation using damp skin and friction, and the brand claims that you can “visibly see” the dead skin slough away as you exfoliate. This did provide some good exfoliation, but I don’t know if it was worth the extra hassle of turning the shower off to rub my body down with this mitt. I saw a very tiny amount of dead skin actually removed, but my legs did feel smooth after using.

Moon Goddess Magick Apothecary Selkie Ritual Perfume

Moon Goddess Magick Apothecary Selkie Ritual Perfume – Listed Value $22

This ritual perfume was inspired by Celtic folklore, and the perfume actually has seaweed and sand from County Cork, Ireland inside, as well as some bits of Atlantic sea glass! This is pretty to look at, and the perfume really does smell reminiscent of a salty sea breeze!

Siren Snickerdoodle Protein Bites, 1.7 oz

Siren Snickerdoodle Protein Bites, 1.7 oz – Listed Value $3 (buy a box of 10 for $28)

I am always on the lookout for new protein-packed snacks, and these snickerdoodle flavored bites pack 12 grams of protein in a serving thanks to pea protein! These protein bites are vegan, gluten, dairy, and grain free, and I really appreciated that the fresh ground cinnamon was a distinctive flavor.

Johnny Concert Amplified Eyeshadow in Acid Mermaid,

Johnny Concert Amplified Eyeshadow in Acid Mermaid, Full-Size! Retail Value $15

Oh, baby, this is a pretty eyeshadow! Plus, how perfect is the name Acid Mermaid? This eyeshadow is creamy and easy to apply, and a dry brush provides a soft blue while water really amps up the wow factor. I have designs to use this wet in the center of my eyelid in a brown eyeshadow look for a pop of color, and I am excited to find an excuse to dress up and do my makeup!

Here are the swatches. The top is with dry eyeshadow and the bottom was with water!

Margarita Bloom Mermaid Sea Salt + Seaweed Soak,

Margarita Bloom Mermaid Sea Salt + Seaweed Soak – Listed Value $6.95 (buy a 3 oz jar for $10.95)

I will be blunt and just say that this single-use vial, while pretty, was not a $7 vial. This made my water a very light blue color, and I imagine the blue would have been richer had there been more salts to pour in. This includes actual dried pieces of seaweed, which was a big no for me. They expanded to be about the size of a half dollar, and I was not happy that I was trying to fish out pieces of seaweed to prevent it from going down and clogging my drain. I did enjoy the scent of this soak, which did smell reminiscent of the ocean.

Kurtis Rykovich Moondust Mermaid Print, 4×6 – Listed Value $8

This is a print of the original Moondust Mermaid oil painting, and I love the combination of eeriness and prettiness that the mermaid exudes. I especially appreciate the orca in the ocean beneath her, as those are of my favorite marine creatures!

The Verdict: One thing I love about the Enchantment Box is the thoughtful curation, and that continues to hold true this month! I am really loving the perfume and the eyeshadow included in this month’s box, and only the bath soak was a real miss for me due to the seaweed issue. Next month’s theme is Harry Potter, and I absolutely cannot wait to see what masterful creation will grace my doorstep! Value-wise, I calculated a total value of $90.83, which meets their promise of having at least $75 in value in the box.

To Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you still sign up today? No, you will start with the September box (Harry Potter-themed), but if you really want this box I recommend reaching out and seeing if any boxes are left!

Coupon – Use code Enchanted15 to save 15% off your first box!

  • Book: $10.13
  • Body Mitt: $12.74
  • Perfume: $14.02

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

  1. I can’t get the coupon code to work!

  2. Depends on the drain you have but some of my bath bombs have flower petals in them so I put the shower hair catcher / drain protector in as soon as I pull the plug from the bath so it catches all of it.

Cute box. Wish it was a little lower priced. At over 50 I always end up comparing things to FFF =/

  3. September will be my first box. I can’t wait! Enchantment has their 3rd Sept. spoiler up on their website, btw.

    • I am so excited for HARRY POTTER! I really hope we get some hogsmeade treats to try!

      • Same 🙂 I’ll be sharing the box with my two teenage daughters. They are both big Harry Potter fans and are so excited.

      • Bookish Box recently did a Harry Potter house Box that was really neat. I’m working on my review of it now! I’m not sure if it is still available but if it is definitely worth taking a look!
