SnackNation June 2018 Review

Nutiva O'Coconut Lightly Sweetened Organic Coconut Treat – Buy an 8-piece bag for $4.93

These are just the cutest. They're petite—about the size of a silver dollar, but are surprisingly substantial! It really feels like a decadent treat, and I love the grainy coconut texture, which is a lot like an Almond Joy. They're like a less sugary macaron, and I'm obsessed! The fact that they come individually wrapped makes them great for transporting in lunches or snacking on the go.

Vegetarian Traveler Toasted Bean Blend, Pepita & Soy-Pea Medley - Buy a 12-count case for $23.99

This 100% felt like something I'd see in a Graze box! I think this may be the cleanest, most simple snack SnackNation has ever sent me. What you see is definitely what you get with this—straight-up nutrition, nothin' more! I think they would go great on top of yogurts or on salads because they're protein-packed with a nice mild flavor. (Snacking on them on their own may be a bit bland.)

Pure Growth Organic Barbecue Veggie Chips – Buy a 5-pack case for $59.69

I've never been a huge fan of veggie chips but I LOVED these! They have a hearty crunch, a great flavor, and a firm texture. The barbecue taste is smokey but not too smokey to be overwhelming. I think I liked these so much 'cause the often-fake-tasting tomato flavor that's common in veggie chips was masked by the barbecue, ha!

Herr's Original Potato Chips – Retail Value $1.49

I was pretty shocked to see these in this month's box. They seem to go against the natural, healthy-leaning standards SnackNation normally upholds! I wasn't complaining though—I will eat potato chips any time, any place. The bag was very tiny, and what's pictured is all the broken chips that were included. So it was a pretty teeny snack!

Bare Baked Crunchy Organic Apple Chips – Fuji & Reds – Buy a 14 oz. bag for $19.75

What a cool snack. I thought they were so beautiful when I poured them in the bowl! It's apples: pure and simple. The taste is light, as you would expect, but the smell itself feels like you're at an orchard. The moment you open the bag, you're met with the scent of super-fresh, bright apples. The crunch is nothing to scoff at either—they're really as crisp as a potato chip!

Duke's Chorizo and Lime Smoked Sausages – Buy a pack of two 5-oz. bags for $21.28

Smoked sausages, beef jerky, and honestly dried, packaged meats of any kind have always freaked me out for some reason. I can't get past it! I had a tough time even smelling these (and the scent was very pungent.) The smoky citrus taste is definitely there, but I couldn't take more than a bite. These were also surprisingly greasy—the orange-colored oils bled through the crisp white packaging they came wrapped in! Not for me, to say the least.

Nature's Garden Cranberry Health Mix – Retail Value $1.49

Another super-clean snack mix! I liked this one more than the Toasted Bean Blend, likely because it had some sweetness going on due to the cranberries and raisins. This would be such a good snack to take on road trips or to sprinkle on bigger meals. Props to SnackNation for including such a variety of textures and proteins this month—I'll take versatile snack mixes over bars any day!

Nothing But the Fruit Real Fruit Raspberry Chia Bites – Buy an 8-pack box for $10.32 (found here for $9.80)

I've had these before in a previous SnackNation box! This scrappy little package was tough to get open, I tell ya! The chia gummy bites themselves are always well-worth the struggle, though. They have one of the most authentic raspberry flavors I’ve ever tasted in a snack! Artificial raspberry flavors always turn me off, but BOY did these nail it. They have refreshing sweetness and a nice firm texture—chewy and so fun to eat!

Veggie-Go's Organic Orange Fruit Snack Bites – Buy a 5-count box for $10.19

As much as I love the raspberry chia bites, I think I like these similar chewy snacks even better. They are AWESOME. Their orange flavor is similar to the smell of Blood Orange essential oils if you've ever smelled that. It's subtle, sweet, and a bit earthy. Their fun size and portable packaging would make 'em a great snack for kids!

JoJo's Chocolate Bark – Buy an 8.4-oz. bag for $14.99

It must have been hot when this month's SnackNation box was delivered because this chocolate bark melted and reformed into more of a chocolate block. It was still wonderfully tasty, however! This was TRUE dark chocolate—decadent, melt-in-your-mouth, deep-flavored dark chocolate! The sizeable chunk it formed into felt rather indulgent compared to the bitty bark pieces I think it was supposed to come in, but that didn't keep me from devouring it.

Keep Healthy Papaya Cashew Fruit Bar, 1.6 oz. – Retail Value $1.99

The texture of this fruit bar turned me off. (Like I said, I'm not a huge fan of snack bars!) I appreciate the fact that it's made with such a simple list of ingredients, but the taste was somehow overly sweet and the strange soft-meets-chewy texture made my stomach turn a bit. Definitely not for me.

Cosmos Creations Coconut Crunch Puffed Corn, 0.50 0z. – Retail Value $0.99

These tasted like CORN POPS CEREAL! I felt like I time-traveled back to Saturday mornings as a little kid, I swear! Even though these puffed corn pieces are coated in a caramel and coconut glaze, the flavors themselves are only vaguely sweet—just enough to taste a little sugar while crunchin' on such a fun snack! I would absolutely buy a big bag of these to keep on hand.

Kar's Roasted Peanuts – Buy a 72-count box for $35.18

Plain ol' peanuts. You just can't beat 'em as a snack. The portion size of this package is GREAT for feeling full on-the-go, and I love that they're salted just enough. I'd eat these any day!

Zoe's Premium Uncured Pepperoni Meat Stick, 0.5 oz. – Buy a pack of 24 for $15.00

Oh, woe. Another meat stick. I wish I enjoyed them more, as they seem to be a pretty common presence in snack boxes! This one is made from raw ingredients with no preservatives or gluten fillers. It was still moist and greasy enough to seem icky to me, so I ultimately had to pass on this one. For those who love snacks like these, however, it's certainly high quality!

Verdict: This month brought an all-around okay SnackNation haul. I'm always pleased when there isn't an abundance of snack bars included because those can get so bland after a while! The variety of textures and protein sources was awesome—nuts are always a solid snack for me! The meat snacks are never a highlight for me, so I'd consider that a miss. I also only received 14 items instead of the standard 15 for some reason. But when it comes to introducing subscribers to healthy new snack options with a variety of health benefits, tastes, and textures, SnackNation nails it.

I’m tempted to try this because of the coupons but some of those snacks just turn me off, just don’t think I’d eat all of them especially the seeds and stuff
