Fairy Garden Chest is a monthly subscription box that sends you fairies, decorations for fairy dwellings and gardens, and fairy and gnome houses. Fairy Gardens have been gaining popularity in the past few years, but have history dating back to the 1890s. Regardless if this is a new obsession or a hobby that has been shared across generations, this subscription box just might add a bit of magical whimsy to your mail.

Fairy Garden Chest June 2018 Review

This month’s box included 4 medium-large items, including 1 seasonal Americana themed piece:

On the top of the opened box, there was an insert that simply said that this was the Fairy Garden Chest. The card is blank on the back, and no packing slip was enclosed.

Nutty Nook Fairy House for Miniture Fairy Gardens (WF525) - Retail Value $21.95

I am so excited to add another house to my collection! This seems to be a quality building, is made of a thick resin and features waterproof paint. It measures 7 ¼" H x 5 ½" D x 5 ¼" W.

Featuring a gray stone and “nut” motif – the little squirrel next to the working door seems to be right at home!

Flag Crate by Gypsy Garden - Retail Value $7.50 (found here for $5.50)

This little crate measures 1 ¾” W x 1 ¼” H and is made of metal, with all-weather paint. It has a rustic, old-fashioned flag look and is an adorable addition to a summer fairy garden! My fairy might stick a few acorns in it – we shall see!

Bird Bell Windchime - Retail Value $3.95

This 8” tall windchime certainly won’t keep you up at night! With a shepherd’s crook top, a little metal cardinal perched on top of a flat bell, and leaf detail this is a perfect all-season accessory that will stay where you put it! I like that it adds a bit of height and dimension to all of the other tiny pieces.

Colorful Fence Corner with Birds - Estimated Value $5.98 (buy a set of 3 for $17.95)

I really like the finished look that this corner fence accent gives to my fairy garden. I received a wooden one, with moss detail and a bird accent. It’s adorable on both sides!

And here are the new additions, with some of my old ones. I think the thing that I'm struggling with now is the merchandising aspect – how to make it seem like one cohesive theme. I'm going to continue to think through the best approach to make it look pretty, and not like a random collection. Off to Pinterest, I go!

The Verdict: Fairy Garden Chest remains one of my favorite subscriptions to get because it is just so different from the others. I liked the selection of products, although I would have liked to add another fairy to my collection! If this was your first box, you might have been disappointed to get these items and no fairy to enjoy them! I personally feel they should include a fairy every month, but others may not agree.

Since I could find all 4 items online, the estimated value is $39.38, which is about 8% off the $36.27 box cost ($27.95 + $8.32 shipping to PA). I really love the house this month!

The Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Their billing cycle renews on the 15th of the month and the boxes ship after that. If you sign up today, I believe that your first box will most likely be the July box.

I love to shop for fairy stuff (for my friends) and they are never inexpensive..! I think the pricing is fair(y) and to have a box come delivered to your home, worth it. (adding in time and travel). There seems to be a bit of a discount here than going to a store…..I know, us subbers are used to more of a discount from our other boxes….Maybe the company needs to take that under consideration…… What a fun hobby…a fairy in each box does make sense, especially for someone just starting out with collecting or sending as a gift.

Agree. I feel the value is there – it’s a fun subscription! It’s also fun to shop for the pieces – just a different approach!

This is a cute subscription, but I’ve seen the pieces at Michael’s where you can very easily find them discounted. I was thinking of getting this for my mom, but I think that might be a better option for me than getting random pieces each month.
