Bulu Box July 2018 Review
There isn’t a theme for Bulu Box and there is some personalization involved, so the contents are usually a surprise:
Because of the variations with this subscription, there’s not a traditional information card listing the items.
There are also usually some coupons and/or product literature with this subscription, although, they don’t always relate to the items in the box. There was a lot of product literature this month.
Flexitol Heel Balm, 0.1 oz – Buy 3 oz bottle for $11.99
This is absolutely something I am interested in and wish the package size had been larger. I have seen various claims for this product in that you may see visible results in 1 day, 3 days, a week, etc. I had enough in this package to use once, which was not enough for me, personally, to see a difference. However, I had done a foot peel not so long ago and maybe that made my results less dramatic? Anyway, this is inexpensive in full size so I may just buy some. It is supposed to help get rid of cracks and dry skin and there is some exfoliation involved as well as moisturizing.
Axia3 Prodigestive, 4 tablets – Buy 45 tablets for $14.83
This is vegan so I am keeping it around for now. I can’t say whether this cures heartburn or how fast it works because I only get heartburn maybe once every 2-3 years. This has a lot of enzymes (which may help aid with digestion) as well as sodium and calcium. Please note, although some antacids are safe to give to your dog (like plain Pepcid, which Nyx gets every day for her IBD), this one contains xylitol so please keep it away from pets.

Minute Mixology Spiced Old Fashioned, 1 serving – Buy 8 packets for $6.99
Minute Mixology Margarita, 1 serving – Buy 8 packets for $6.99
Minute Mixology Coconut Mojito, 1 serving – Buy 8 packets for $6.99
What a strange item for a health and fitness-oriented subscription box. These are packets of flavored powder that can be mixed with (alcoholic) spirits and water to make mixed drinks. I don’t drink and neither does my husband, so we are passing these along to someone who will be able to make better use of them. If you make mixed drinks infrequently or want to be able to offer guests a choice without buying 3 or 4 different bottles of mixers, this could work for you.
Styr Labs Multivitamin, 1 packet – Buy 30 packets for $29
This is vegan/vegetarian and gluten free. I do have to admit, I am happy seeing more vegetarian samples lately. This has a fruity flavor and is supposed to be mixed into 12-16 ounces of water. Please note, you are supposed to finish it off within 10 minutes of mixing, so you can’t just dump it in a water bottle and drink throughout the day. I know that multivitamin pills can be quite large and difficult for some people to swallow, and although I personally would prefer to take a pill, this could be an option for some people. This has a fruity flavor although there is a “vitamin” undertaste that you can’t quite get rid of. I suppose there’s nothing stopping you from putting this in a smoothie instead of water. It might get hidden better under those circumstances.

PlantFusion Complete Plant Protein in Natural, 1 serving – Buy 2 lbs for $57.95 (found on sale here for $36.99)
I’m always happy to get vegetarian protein powders. I’ll be honest and admit that I prefer whey protein better as it blends better, but I was intrigued by the idea of an unflavored powder. Well, I would not suggest making this into a shake as-is and chugging it, as “natural” is not a good flavor on its own. In a smoothie, though, this worked well. I added extra cacao as well. This has pea protein, artichoke protein, and sprouted amaranth and quinoa powders, as well as branched-chain amino acids (good for attacking delayed onset muscle soreness) and some enzymes.
MegaFood C Defense Tangy Citrus Gummies, 2 count – Buy 90 Gummies for $22.59 (found on sale here for $16.29)
These gummies are vegetarian and also free of high fructose corn syrup. They have a decent citrus flavor and I can see that it would be pretty easy to eat way more than the indicated dose on the package. I don’t typically need to supplement with Vitamin C but it is nice to have a bit around in case I feel like I’m getting a cold and I would consider this brand in the future. These can allegedly melt during hot weather but they were intact after an afternoon in my mailbox in the Southern summer heat.
Earth’s Care Acne Spot Treatment, 0.1 oz x 2 – Buy a 0.97 oz container for $14.99 (found on sale here for $10.56)
This is something I can use right now. Last month I had bronchitis and an eye infection and I just didn’t try at all beyond basic face washing and showering and abandoned almost all skincare, and my face broke out as a result. This contains sulfur, which can help fight blemishes, and also it has bentonite (can absorb excess oils) and colloidal oatmeal (which may be soothing to the skin). I can say after one use that it is not an overnight miracle worker, but there is enough here that I can use it for a week or two (I got two more packets in the weight loss version of Bulu Box) and see how it goes.

Verdict: This month’s box had nine sample (counting the drink mixers separately but the acne spot treatment as one item), so they’d be about $1.11 each if you paid full price ($10) for this box. I have the $5 for life deal, so my per-item price was around $0.56, which is a pretty good deal even if every sample doesn’t work for you. As long as there are a couple of things I can try, I’m happy enough. I’d say this assortment was representative of what you could receive in a given month from this subscription, with the caveat that although everything was vegetarian this month, it won’t always be.
I’d strongly recommend using our MYSUB799 coupon code when you subscribe and choosing either the regular or the weight loss box, but not both since there is a lot of product repetition between the two. Please also note that instead of getting points you can redeem for merchandise if you review your samples, now you get sweepstakes entries, which isn’t as good of a deal (unless you are the winner…).
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, August would be your first shipment. Also, keep in mind that there are variations in the boxes, so your box might not be exactly like mine in any given month.
