Whiskerbox May 2018 Review

One thing that’s great about Whiskerbox is the items are usually off the beaten path when it comes to cat subscriptions – you don’t see these anywhere else! Let’s see what was in store this month:

Whiskerbox May 2018 Booklet Front Whiskerbox May 2018 Booklet Back

There was an information card in the box listing the items. It also had my cats’ names!

Please note: Whiskerbox recently changed their information cards a bit. There are some box variations and everything you could possibly receive is listed, though you won’t necessarily get every item on the card. (You will still receive, in the case of the “Meow” version, 4-6 items, including apparel, for a total value of $76 or greater.  For what it’s worth, I think the $76 is Canadian; I am pretty sure Whiskerbox is based out of Canada somewhere, although I can’t find an address to confirm this.)

Whiskerbox May 2018 Egg Mold

Fred and Friends Cat Egg Mold – Retail Value $13.11

This is made from silicone and you can use it to make two sunny-side-up eggs with the yolks as eyes. As it happens, I cannot stand eating runny egg yolk, so I’m going to explore the possibilities of using it as a pancake mold instead. The silicone should be heat safe and it is also easy to clean. And Sneaky ran off with this while I was taking photos and started chewing on it (this is something she does with silicone…).

Whiskerbox May 2018 Toy

Green Rush Canvas Tuna Toy from All for Paws – Listed Value $10

I receive this brand fairly often in cat subscription boxes and I can never find it for retail sale online. At any rate, this is a medium-sized catnip plush with an interesting fuzzy/canvas texture. Several of the cats have expressed interest so far.

Whiskerbox May 2018 Bowtie

Cat Collar and Bowtie from Cat Couture – Listed Value $35

About every third month, Whiskerbox sends a matching collar and bowtie. I think these are more for looks than function, as they are not safety breakaway collars and there’s not an obvious place to hang an ID or rabies tag. However, they are definitely well-made and they are adjustable to fit a variety of cat neck sizes.

Whiskerbox May 2018 Socks

Cat Face Socks from Kiss Socks – Listed Value $15

I think this is an Asian brand so it was hard to find a reliable retail website. At any rate, I can always use some more novelty socks (I wear them around the house a lot) and these fit well (I have size 7 feet) and they have cats on them, so these are a win for me.

Here are a few cat pictures for you:

Whiskerbox May 2018 Angus 1

Angus, that’s not what that item is for.

Whiskerbox May 2018 Angus 2

Angus liked this toy, but none of the pictures of him playing with it turned out.

Whiskerbox May 2018 Madison 1

Madison is stylish.

Whiskerbox May 2018 Monkey 1

Monkey is also stylish (and those whiskers)!

Whiskerbox May 2018 Sneaky 1

Sneaky also bites the egg mold.

Whiskerbox May 2018 Sneaky 2

She’s like “take this thing off me now.”

Whiskerbox May 2018 Sparkles 1

Mr. Kitty was sleepy but that meant he didn’t protest too much, here.

Verdict: I didn’t calculate a total value for the May 2018 Whiskerbox because I had to rely on the information card for so many of the item prices. The average value per item is $11.24, which is close to or lower than the listed values from the information card in every case, so I feel like the value is there. My cats like the egg mold (I know that’s weird) and the toy, and I had fun taking pictures of them in the collar, and the socks are useful.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Whiskerbox ships on the 15th of the month so if you sign up before then (assuming they haven’t sold out), you would get June’s box as your first box.

Coupon – Use code msa10 to save 10% off any subscription, for life!

Value Breakdown: At $44.95 for this box, you are paying approximately $11.24 per item.
