Scentbird for Women June 2018 Review
This month, I received Scentbird’s “Scent of the Month.” You can either opt for the scent of the month or you can fill a queue with fragrances of your choosing:
I got this information card about the month’s featured scent, Extraordinary Tulip from Atelier Bloem.
Your fragrance is typically packaged in a cardboard tube and if you look at the back, it has instructions for how to put these in the Scentbird holders.
Extraordinary Tulip from Atelier Bloem – Estimated Value $15.60 (Buy 100 mL for $195)
I think this used to be called “Black Tulip” but has undergone a name change. I don’t know what I think about the word “extraordinary” in the product name but there already is a Black Tulip (from NEST Fragrances) so maybe there was some kind of trademark dispute? Anyway, I think “black” isn’t the right descriptor for this fragrance, anyway. This is less floral than I would have expected (it was honestly kind of green to me when I first sprayed it) but that is fine by me as I am not hugely into florals. This has amber and white woods, which are some notes I happen to like, a few floral notes (tulip, of course, plus freesia and violet), and then ivy, vetiver, and bergamot. This one did change quite a lot over time; it lost some of the greenness and, at least on me, the amber and woods started to become more apparent.
Verdict: The estimated value of my fragrance this month is $15.60, which is a little bit above the cost of the subscription. The scent of the month is usually about, or slightly lower than, the subscription cost. You can maximize the value you receive by choosing the more expensive fragrances for your Scentbird queue. I like the discovery aspect of this subscription; this month alerted me to a new (to me) perfumery (FYI, Atelier Bloem was founded by the guys behind Malin and Goetz and focuses on a specific Dutch flower market) and allowed me to try it out without springing for a $195 bottle.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, all you have to do is choose this fragrance for your queue.

Value Breakdown: This subscription is $14.95/monthly and this month, I received $15.60 worth of fragrance (but again, this is highly variable based on what scent you receive).
