I love Sephora play subscription box. Its truly one of my favorite monthly boxes. I have been with them for years. I am so glad that I cancelled last month. Too many repeats. I guess its good to have a separation from them for a little while. Hopefully i will be back in winter. 🙂

I still plan to buy that Sephora set if it’s still available when I can. It’s a good deal and colors o like. With boxy it seems like the colors they send me rarely work out for my complexion or however that works. They jist don’t look good on me. I’ll keep taking whatever they send either way.

I got MUFE foundation in April!! The color didn’t match my cool undertones. I do not need another just 2 months later (or ever) that’s completely ridiculous. That’s taking repeats too far!

I wrote customer service to see if they could send me something I didn’t just receive. I got a snooty reply about how carefully they select items for me and instructing me how to fill out my profile. Umm been a member since August 2015 and I’m pretty sure my profile didn’t tell them to send me a mismatched MUFE foundation every other month. B-bye

I got the same response when I told them I had two repeats last month. I’ve only been subbed for 5-6 months, and my profile is exact and has never been changed. Grr. If this month doesn’t blow me away (#603), I’m out.

I hope not. I really wanted the mascara. I don’t need two hair care items. Plus, I’ve already gotten the Living Proof once and the Cover FX setting powder at least twice. I recently bought a full-sized Bum Bum lotion (which is great, but goes to show their algorithm to select who gets what box is crap!). The lipstick looks like it would match a corpse (someone posted on here ‘your lips but deader’ shade). The make-up remover is fine.
It would be really nice to get brands I HAVEN’T tried before. Everything in this box I’ve either bought full-sized already or gotten it in more than one Play Box.
At least the upcoming Allure box looks great (Kat Von D mix of stuff).
I’ve been more and more disappointed with Sephora’s box every month.

This variations look good. When I got this box I never got what I wanted. If I would get boxes like this I’d get this sub again. But I don’t. When I go to Sephora and ask for a foundation sample they don’t give me enough to cover my face. I’ve been wanting to try different high end foundations.

I was with play for over a year and nearly every month its repeat samples and point perk samples that I’ve already gotten so I cancelled at the end of last month. I was so worried I would miss something but as of now I’ve already gotten most all of these in past boxes so I’m happy with my decision. Hopefully everyone else enjoys the products they receive😊❤️👍

Yeah, I’m done with Play.
Would have rather gotten the Murad cream. I have a Belif that I’m not done with.
Last week was hot and humid as Hades and I was appreciating the gel creams I had gotten in other boxes.
The Clinique makeup remover is an excellent product and will get used after I polish off the full size I have.
My lips are naturally deep tone, so the Too Faced may or may not give me that “my lips but deader” that so many in that shade range do.
The Prada fragrance sounds icky. Floral but ironic? Really *eyeroll*

I’m getting 389. Not really happy that 2 of my items are hair products since idgaf abt my hair (l mean we are being honest here right? lol) but the Murad looks good, the too faced lippie is a color I really wanted and was going to purchase on my own if I didn’t get it, the shampoo/conditioner are ok but the spray is something I’ll never use. The big test will be the foundation. I made sure to triple check my profile so I know that thing says I am blindingly pale. If they send me fake tan orange I’ll be upset.

If you are very pale, you’ll never get a foundation match. Anyone who isn’t light-medium or medium is usually out of luck when it comes to foundation samples. They can be OK to try out a sample to see if you like the texture, finish, staying power, etc. but NOT for color matches. 🙁

If you want to be guaranteed to get nearly 100% makeup in your subscription you’ll want boxycharm. It’s $21 monthly and you’ll get all make up and makeup related items like makeup brushes, lip scrubs, etc. Imo it’s ideal for a beginner bc it’s a great and inexpensive way to find out what types of products you enjoy and which brands you enjoy as well. They send items from well known, reputable brands and the retail value of the box is guaranteed to be at least $100. Boxy also only sends full sized items unlike other subs which either send sample sizes or a combo of sample sizes and full size items.
Sephora Play & Ipsy are each $10 a month. With Sephora you’ll receive samples only. With ipsy you’ll get mostly samples and a full sized item tossed in every now and then which may include a makeup brush. The items you get from these 2 will include makeup items, but will also include skin care, hair care, perfume samples and even nail care products. Allure beauty box is similar to Ipsy, but it costs $15 a month. You can get $5 off your first month by using a coupon code available here on MSA.
Target puts out a box or several boxes at the start if each month for $7. These can be hit or miss and do not ship automatically. You have to go to their site and buy them every month.

Play gets a lot of complaints but I like it because I get to try stuff without feeling too bad if I don’t like it and have to toss it or give it away. I had Ipsy for awhile and I liked it for the same reason. Ipsy will give you more makeup, Play will give you makeup/skincare/haircare.
I like looking at what everyone gets in boxes like Boxycharm but I’d never go for it because I would never use all that product. It does look like a great sub, though.

I would personally suggest Boxycharm. You’ll get a ton of makeup and lots of brands and high quality items to practice with. If you want to stay away from makeup and get skincare, I’d suggest BeautyFix.

It depends what you’re looking for in my opinion. The best value is Boxycharm at $21 for 5 full size products but they are all makeup usually. I also used to love my Ipsy subscription at $10. Check out past spoilers on this blog and I’m sure you’ll figure out which one works best for you!

I’m getting #389. I do like most of what’s in my box, but I know the foundation will be too dark.
The Murad and Clinique will get used. The lipstick and sea salt spray will be nice to try, but not too exciting. I’d say this is worth the $10 price tag for the shampoo and conditioner, alone – which I am excited to try. I am wondering what the size will be. I hope I can get a few uses out of them and they’re not foil samples…
