Ipsy Reveals Are Up for the June 2018 Glam Bag!

At some point ipsy started sending me two bags – probably because I signed up twice when there was a waiting list. It’s inexpensive enough so that it’s fun to get the two bags and there generally aren’t duplicates and I have girlfriends that run the gamut from very fair to dark chocolate and in a range of ages and I enjoy spreading the fun around.

Bag 1
Belif moisturingz eye bomb – I got this in another box and like it very much. It’s small but like all eye creams, a little goes a LONG way

Pacifia 5 Shadow Eye Palette – Tomboy Vibe – not sure about this as I already have pretty similar colors except for the chartreuse 🙂 and they don’t seem to be very pigmented so this might find a new home

Mintpear Rounded Soft Blend M64 Brush – Their website says it’s $24 but it isn’t remarkable to me but I can always use another brush or one of my girlfriends can :-). It looks like a nice size for highlighting

Pixi by Petra Glow Tonic – have tried yet but I like toners and it’s a nice travel size

Mac Little Lipglass in C-thru – This will probably make me look like death so probably will rehome

Periperi Rose Tint – I was an early adopter of the Benefit lip stain when it first came out so I am a huge fan of any kind of liquid stain

Mac Primer – it’s MAC so I’ll give it a shot but I have lots of primers and this is a tiny sample – could they spare it? LOL

Dr. Lili Eye Cream – always can use a good eye cream

Innisfree green tea intensive serum – I just finished another sample of serum so I’m looking forward to this one

Kaleido Blush in Prom Queen – this is not what I would call a blush but it is a gorgeous highlighter that will work well with my fair complexion. Pleasant surprise. I do wonder what “formulated in Italy” – Packaging Made in China means as I think it’s intentionally ambiguous. I don’t necessarily mind a Chinese product that is put out by a reputable company since most reputable companies do a good job of quality control but I do resent their hiding the ball since packaging to me means the box and the plastic container but I think they mean the whole thing including the actual blush. I know Gucci makes their stuff in other countries – ships it to Italy and does one small finishing touch so that it can legally label Made in Italy 🙂

Ferdinand lip stick (last month’s lip was nude of all the colors they could’ve given me, I’ll be pretty mad if this is nude too)

While I’m happy my Ipsy bag finally seems to be steering away from skin care for the most part, I’m still not really impressed by my bag this month especially if I get two nude shades. I’m pale as hell, nude never looks good on me no matter what product it is. I did redeem the Jersey shore strawberry balm and Lip Oil in Orchid so I’m excited for that at least.

Kind of disappointed, although the non-makeup items are admittedly good, however I checked adventurous for all my makeup options, and have been rating fun colors highly and neutrals and golds low. I was super Psyched about all the colorful option this month, and yet I’m getting a boring brown eye shadow and the Pretty Woman nail Polish in either a white (yawn) or a neon yellow, which while colorful, is not exactly great. Supper bumbed I couldn’t get a colorful eye shadow, or one of the blushes, or lip products. Anything but a brown eye shadow during a month that was themed “flying colors”.

To be fair to ipsy though, I’m excited about finally trying the Pixi glow tonic, I’m getting a shadow brush I can use with my non-boring shadows, and the unicorn face masks, which seem fun. Honestly, if I hadn’t psyched myself up about all the great makeup options I hoped to receive this month, I’d probably have called the bag a win.

I have an idea where every month after you get all your product spoilers ipsy should allow you to go to the list of all the products and let you select the ones that you would’ve wanted. This way ipsy can see what kind of products you like and this means that they can customize the bags better.

Kind of disappointed in my bag… just hoping to not get the yellow bag though!

For me, IPSY is just a fun surprise each month. For $10, I am always happy to try something and really enjoy anything I get. I do have quite a few black eyeliners from prior bags, so I am really happy for a change in color this time. For me, the price is right and, if I get a couple things I can pamper myself with that I would not try otherwise, I am a happy camper!

Can someone tell me about the SWAP site? I just got on the waiting list but really have no idea how it works. I thought it would be fun to try other brands if I get duplicates. How does it work? Do you each pay for shipping? How do you determine what you swap?

This month, I am also trying birchbox and boxycharm for the first time so I am excited to see if I like those. I also get Sephora. Just some fun stuff to mess around with! Always fun to get a package for myself rather than taking care of everyone else.

I’m getting:

Firma Beauty blush brush- I can always use brushes but considering I barely wear face makeup this might go up for swap

MAC prep and prime- I don’t wear foundation or anything really on my face so no need for a primer

Hanalei lip treatment- I would have liked the macaroon one better than a colored one

Nomad Highlighter- I’m actually excited to try this one

Kensie Eau De Perfume- I have never got a perfume from them and I have always been happy about that. I just won’t use this, I have my HG perfume.

This is my second bad bag in a row. I know I won’t always get the best bags but they had been doing pretty good on personalizing the bag to my profile. Now, not so much. 🙁

I get two bags to get a bigger assortment of products, but last month, my two bags had exactly the same five products! After talking to customer service (who got back to me very quickly and was super helpful) I made everything on my profile different except my dry skin. No overlap in lip products (I love them all), not all color choices “Adventurous,” totally different brands. I reviewed the products differently. I don’t have access (on either bag) to the survey that some people have. This month, totally different bags, with mostly stuff I like! Woohooooo!

Something I hadn’t thought about till last month: in addition to giving you an assortment of products that you will hopefully like, they have to balance the retail value so you’re not getting $25 one month and someone else has $75.

From spoilers this bag looks great to me. Hoping for the red or blue bag…

I hate 4/5 of the items in my bag. I only like the brush.

So I don’t hate my bag for once.

Pretty woman nail polish – only item I am getting that I don’t want. I don’t have nail polish checked and in the survey I said no to all nail polish they asked about. Ugh.

I finally uncheck eyeliner. They finally send the beauty for real eyeliner :|, right after the kids destroyd mine 😐 . It’s the only eyeliner that works on my constantly watery eyes lol.

I’m SO delighted to be getting a gloss and NOT a liquid lipstick in nude/nude rose/nude mauve/nude beige, and it even looks like a fun holographic color for summer. Yay!

I don’t need the brush, but as brushes go, it looks like a useful one.

I got a questionnaire from Ipsy about preferences, which was reassuring since I hadn’t liked much in the last few bags. I really like how they run their company.

Hoping I get the red or blue bag (not a big fan of bright yellows).

I paused ipsy for 2 months and started back last month and I must say my bags have improved! I am happy because I will actually use everything I’m getting. Good job Ipsy!!

I resubscribed this month after cancelling 3 months ago and it’s a fine bag. I’m getting:
Luxie shadow brush (love brushes, love luxie!)
Doucce lipstain (haven’t loved the Doucce products I’ve gotten in the past but lipstains are great for summer)
The Saem sheet masks (sheets masks can be great … excited to try the apple one)
Steve Laurent eye shadow (probably a result of changing my profile to be more adventurous … paired with the amazing Alamar palette in Boxy this month, I will have upped my color game 10-fold)
Feel Anywhere balm (a bit of a throw away item but I’m sure I will use it at some point)

All in all, I’m not convinced I need Ipsy in my life but I will give it another month. My BoxyCharm and FFF boxes this month are amazing, so it’s fine 🙂

I got the one item I wanted most-the Pacifica! I’ve read conflicting reviews regarding the color saturation but have been wanting to try their eyeshadows for some time now. I can definitely use everything they’re sending this month. I wouldn’t have minded getting the Bare Minerals, Raeka mask, or Peripera either but it seems like ipsy generally got my preferences right…

This is my second bag so I am happy with everything I am getting. I would have loved the MAC also lol.

I resubscribed at the end of last month (so my first bag will be June’s) after taking a break from Ipsy for over a year. I was pleasantly surprised with the changes they did on their website and app. I also noticed that now they are including a lot more Korean Beauty brands like Peripera, Innisfree, The Saem, just to name a few. I’m glad they are doing it.
As for my bag, I’m getting:
1. Firma Beauty blush brush
2. Beauty for real eyeliner
3. Bareminerals serum
4. Steve Laurent eyeshadow
5. Raeka turmeric peel-off mask

Haven’t tried any of those products/brands before, so I’m looking forward to this bag 🙂
