Bando Goody Goodie Bag Mystery Box Review

Cool Cat Eye Sunglasses in Pink,

Cool Cat Eye Sunglasses in Pink - Retail Value $20

These sunglasses are fun and perfect for summer, and I love the pink tint of the shades when wearing them. Unfortunately, I wear my glasses about 99% of the time, and when I do wear sunglasses it's my trust aviators from Robb Vices. That being said, I have a close friend who will absolutely rock these and I am happy to be able to pass these along to her!

You’re Killing It Enamel Pin

You’re Killing It Enamel Pin - Retail Value $10 (found here for $8)

I am slowly growing my enamel pin collection thanks to subscription boxes and I really like this one. Life is hard, Y’all, and sometimes you just need to take a step back and remind yourself that you are killing it. There is nothing wrong with acknowledging that your hard work is working, and I feel like this pin encompasses it perfectly.

Gonna Be Okay Hot Stuff Thermal Mug - Retail Value $14 (found here for $11)

I love the mugs and tumblers from ban.do and this is no exception. I love the rainbow words against the nude background, and the 16-ounce capacity is perfect for my morning tea.

Happy Hour Deluxe Notepad Set - Retail Value $15 (found here for $11)

I have been lamenting the lack of personalization at my desk, and I have been trying to figure out how to add some personal pizazz to my space. This is perfect! The large red notepad is for regular notes, and the clouds and sun notes are sticky. The clouds would also make good page markers when I’m going through a big stack of records.

Rose Parade Stick With it Paper Tape Set - Retail Value $12

I am a true-blooded millennial with anything holographic— it is my JAM and it makes my heart go pitter-patter. This tape set includes a lovely holographic roll, a gorgeous floral roll, and a roll that says “no bad days.” I am here for all of it and now I’m trying to think of things in my life that need more tape.

Metallic Gold Glitter Bomb Souvenir Pen - Retail Value $10

I am a sucker for good pens, and I absolutely love the gold glitter and metallic body of this pen. What I don’t love is how loose the pen feels when you’re writing. To being the pen cartridge out of the body you twist the tip, and it isn’t as secure as I would prefer. This is a cute pen but not a sturdy one.

Compliment Card Set in Your Future Looks Bright/Stay Golden – Retail Value $6 (found here for $4)

This item was also in the last goody goodie bag, but I am not mad about it because I love these. These compliment cards combine some of my favorite stationary features (ombre and metallic gold) into a small and cute way to brighten someone else’s day.

The Verdict: As I expected, I absolutely loved this mystery box! The aesthetic Ban.do strives for is one that I am always really attracted to, so their mystery boxes are pretty much a guaranteed slam dunk for me. I think my favorite items out of this box were the tape and the thermal mug, and even though the quality of the pen could be better I am still going to happily use it with my cute new notepad set. Value-wise, I calculated a total value of $87, which meets their promise of a $75 value and is more than double the cost of the box + shipping. Good deal!

The Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you sign up today? Yes! As of publication, you can buy the $30 mystery bag here.

Value Breakdown: I calculated a value of $87 using the original price of the items, which I think is fair for the items for I received. Since this box cost $35 ($30 + $5 shipping), that means you are paying approximately the following per item:

  • Sunglasses:$8.05
  • Enamel Pin: $4.02
  • Thermal Mug: $5.63
  • Notepad Set: $6.03
  • Tape Set: $4.83
  • Pen: $4.02
  • Compliment Cards: $2.41

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

I got this exact same bag and was super disappointed. I had serious FOMO from the last goodie bag and made sure to grab one this time around. The only thing I thought I would use was the pen but agree with your review. I was hoping for at least a notebook. Would have loved the mug…in winter. Definitely should have been a cup with a straw.

Why does everything have to have writing on it??

I love you’re comment about anything holographic because I’m the same way!!!!

Looks like junk to me. Glad I passed. I can put $30 to much better use.

Your $30 bag was WAY better than my $50 bag. I’m super disappointed this tims

I agree; this one was better. I was a bit frustrated, even though I know that I’m taking my chances and really did enjoy most of it. The sunglasses in the review were fine, but I got the stupidest looking novelty ones with flowers that stick up and out and can’t be removed. The worst part, though, was that I got the Free Refills cup from the July 2017 PSMH box! I hated it then, and I hate it now. How many of them did they make that they’re still in stock? But I am trying to cut back on single-use plastics and am required to only drink out of a straw because of a persistent allergic reaction to basically everything, so yay, cup with a straw.

Oh no! I’m sorry to hear that. What came in your $50 bag?

I treated myself to the $50 version and it came last night. This stuff is cute, but mine had a journal in it and some other things I’m more excited about. I also got that pen and while the glitter is cute, I 100% agree with your assessment of it.

I also ordered the $30 goody bag and am anxiously awaiting it’s arrival. I won’t be mad at all if I got the same or similar as you! Especially that thermal mug!
