Allure Beauty Box x Kat Von D June 2018 Review

info booklet Allure x Kat Von D

This month’s Allure Beauty Box is a “takeover” by Kat Von D and was curated by her along with Allure’s Deputy Beauty Director, Elizabeth Siegel. This is such a treat since I’m a big fan of Kat’s makeup!

intro and info on kvd tattoo eyeliner

info on kvd everlasting lip liner and studded kiss creme lipstick

info on ole henriksen transforming walnut scrub and kvd travel mirror

back of info booklet for Allure x Kat Von D

There’s a booklet that begins with a letter from Elizabeth, and each page afterward talks about the five products included that are compiled of their favorites.

kat von d tattoo eyeliner in trooper black

Kat Von D Tattoo Eyeliner in Tropper Black, 0.2ml – Estimated Retail Value $10.00 (Full Size $20.00)

Well, this is a strong start because I already use this eyeliner! I love liquid eyeliners even though with contacts sometimes things can get watery, I’ve never had a problem with Kat’s version as it stays put and doesn’t end up anywhere else on my face. Since this “trooper” shade is a deep black and the same color I use, I’m excited to have a travel size to pop in my bag before heading out of the house.

kat von d everlasting lip liner in lolita with packaging

Kat Von D Everlasting Lip Liner in Lolita, FULL SIZE! $18.00

I love wearing lipstick and have oodles of variations of this color but haven’t really dabbled much in lip liners. I could have sworn I owned this hue in liquid lipstick but I just have a few similar ones which is terrific because it will still work! I was really impressed with how this liner glided across my lips. It’s really creamy and soft so it allows me to define the lip shape I want and prevent bleeding when I use cream lipsticks. Hooray! This is going into my beauty routine.

kat von d studded kiss creme lipstick in double dare with packaging

Kat Von D Studded Kiss Creme Lipstick in Double Dare, Estimated Retail Value $5.59 (Full Size $19.00)

I’ve never tried Kat Von D’s creme lipstick, but I’m a HUGE fan of her liquid ones (and already own this color in that form) so I’m on board to give this one a go. The dusty rose color is really close to the color of lipliner below so they work really well together. The liner is slightly darker, but it blends nicely and makes my lips really precise. Like the liner, I was also blown away by how creamy this formula is and am wondering why it took me so long to try the creme version of her lipsticks! It’s also really staying put even though it does seem to transfer slightly. Overall, it’s really moisturizing too. The tube is a smaller travel version of the full size so, like the eyeliner, I can toss this in a pouch in my bag for when I need to look polished on the go. The studded tube gives it a signature punk look that is synonymous with Kat Von D as well and sets it apart from those bourgeoisie brands.

ole henriksen tranforming walnut scrub

Ole Henricksen Transforming Walnut Scrub, 3 oz. – FULL SIZE! Retail Value $28.00

back of ole henriksen tranforming walnut scrub

Yes! I loooove exfoliators! Something about the gritty texture really makes me feel like I’m getting my face clean and helping remove any dry skin that may be muting my glow. This transforming walnut scrub is just DIVINE. Immediately after using it my face felt impossibly soft and smooth like I had been reborn. Having that feeling is a wonderful base for the rest of my skin routine. The walnut powder “gently exfoliates to reveal fresher, softer skin” while the Ginseng extract “helps purify and revive”. It is of course vegan as well which is very important to Kat Von D and contains no parabens, sulfates, or phthalates.

back of kat von d travel mirror

Kat Von D Travel Mirror – Estimated Retail Value $8.00? (Larger hand mirror here for $18.00)

The final item is this super cool travel mirror! It’s designed to look like a wax seal like the one you’d find on a letter with the recognizable KVD logo embossed on it. The total diameter is a little over 3 inches so, like the other petite products, this easily slips into your bag so you can check your look discretely wherever you are. Since a lot of my makeup doesn’t have built-in mirrors, this will come in handy for me.

swatches for Allure x Kat Von D beauty box

Here are the swatches of the lip liner, creme lipstick, and liquid eyeliner.

Verdict: This month’s Allure Beauty Box is absolutely the perfect box for a Kat Von D beauty fan like myself. Every single product was a win and even though they weren’t all full size, they are perfect for travel or supplementing in between grabbing your next full size. This has to be one of my favorite months of any beauty box plus the value is wonderful seeing as though it’s only $15.00 and I estimate the retail to be about $69.59!

  1. Liz,

You should NOT be giving Allure business! This company is charging people’s cards, not sending boxes, not responding to emails, sending broken, half used, old samples, and advertising great products that they don’t deliver. How can you feel good about even giving us the option to subscribe to this deplorable company??? Read the reviews! I signed up because you gave them a good review. UGH.

  2. I subscribed at the end of June and just got the June box yesterday. My free gift was some waxy lip moisturizer. Does anyone know if this was a potential gift, or did anyone else get this? I was hoping for the mascara.

    • The exact same thing here.i got a cheap lip balm and subscribed on june 20 and just got my june box on july 10. So when do i get julys box? In aug?

  3. Did anyone get the liquid lipstick?

Just wondering since I haven’t seen anybody happy about it.

I’m happy with my box since I generally buy a KVD lip liner every once in a while and my whole box was cheaper than one from Sephora or the web site.

    • I liked the box, not so happy with the anti-vax stance, but the lipstick (cream not liquid) was the perfect shade for me.

      • Agreed. My biology degree is having a hard time separating the art from the artist.

      • Same here, except history degree, with a special interest in historical epidemics, and vaccines that have been developed.

What annoys me as much as that disturbs me, is she could have kept that to herself.

  4. This box was terrible for me. First off, when I checked the website, it listed the liquid lip as being an item in the box but I got the mirror? Very upset as that is the main reason I got it. Then I noticed that when they sent shipping update they used the first line of my shipping address but the city state of my billing (the next town over). I emailed them and they “fixed” their error in time for shipping, about a week prior. Or so I thought. had to go to a specific post office location to pick up my box which took 30+ mins for them to find. But they found it! Yay! The moment I’ve been waiting for…wait…the lip liner is stuck in the cap…the lipstick is stuck in the cap..what kind of crap is this?? And the tatcha product is super scuffed up and the seal wasn’t on all the way like it’s been disappointed..I’ll be sticking to Sephora’s box from now on

    • I also had my lipliner broken off and stuck to the cap. I contacted Allure and sent pictures. They said they’d send a replacement box (of course, I had to write twice – and then I got a few different emails as though nobody kept track of whether a CS rep responded or not). I did get my replacement box but it was smashed to smithereens. The box was squashed down to a wedge shape, the lipstick case was so smashed it couldn’t be turned and raised, but the worst is that the walnut scrub was totally ripped open and got all over everthing in the bag – in every nook and cranny. Nothing was salvageable. I wrote them about this replacement box, got no answer and wrote again today. My May box was damaged as well and they did send a replacement box. They do seem to eventually make good on things, but they field customer service inquiries in a rather haphazard way. Things fall between the cracks easily. I can’t even imagine how and where the box got so crushed. I don’t think much of the post office, but I haven’t seen quite that much damage. I don’t know if the damage happened in Allure’s hands or after it left.

  5. Didn’t get my box this month. I was issued a new credit card mid-month, but notified Allure CS too late before the box sold out. 🙁 Oh well. Didn’t really need any of it…due to product overload. Waiting for July box now.

  6. I just loved the Kat Von D box. This was the first box that I have bought. I have used all the products and they are so awesome

  7. Just received my first Allure box today 6/29, I did get the KVD, and I am sooo disappointed! My lipstick is smashed, my lipliner box was opened (first thing I noticed when unboxing) and there’s product on the cap of it, clearly looks like they sent me someone’s returns. I was most excited to try those two things based on the MSA review of this box. And yes, my scrub has that carving too, lol. I wonder if there’s even any point in complaining after hearing from you guys how terrible customer service is…so disappointing, I was very excited to get this…

    • I doubt they are returns since I don’t think Allure takes returns! And yes, the CS is pretty bad. i did get something, an email maybe, that said they are aware that they’re perceived as bad in this area and are working to improve, so maybe we all have something to look forward to.

  8. Received my box today and I signed upon 06/12 for the liquid lipstick but got the mirror instead 🙁 so disappointed.

    • ahh me too :(((

    • Me too! That was the only reason I got it in the first place. I was pissed. I dont like being told I’ll get one thing, then getting something else. False advertising at its finest!

  9. has anyone else had problems with receiving their box from Allure? I signed up on 6/12 and I still have not heard or received anything. Emailed them no response. I signed up for Boxy Charm and FitFabFun the same day and have both. NO ALLURE BOX OR RESPONSE. Super sad and disappointed

    • Christina I ordered mine on 06/11 and have not received mine neither. I have not heard ANYTHING from Allure. I placed an order from FabFitFun too and at least got emails from them … nothing from Allure. They took the $$ so I’m hoping I hear something by 06/26. Apparently that’s when the next wave ships? Keep me posted on if you hear anything

      • I ordered 6/8 and still nothing. I also got the other boxes I ordered from other companies at the same time.

    • I’ve had the same issue! I signed up on 6/12 too actually, and I’ve heard nothing. I emailed them on Wednesday, and nothing and I tweeted at them yesterday and nothing. The Kat Von D products pulled me in, but I’m canceling. Terrible customer service is line in the sand when there are dozens of beauty boxes out there.

    • Don’t worry! Same thing happened with me at first – signed up end of May, box came mid-June. It doesn’t ship right away, give it about 2-3 weeks. They should definitely send another email stating that though.

    • Based on a tip on MSA I ordered Allure through Amazon instead. My Kat VonD box arrived within a week. I love the idea that I can easily cancel or appeal to Amazon customer service after reading of issues with Allure direct.

      • I FINALLY got an email confirmation today – it is the 26th!! – that my Allure box had shipped out… hopefully you guys will get an email too!

    • Same here but I saw some fine print in one of their emails that they sold out of that box and my first box would be the July one. I just received notification of that one bing shipped.

    • Me too. But it does show now it finally shipped out 6/26.

    • I never received my June Kat Von D box from Allure. I called the customer service number and they told me the box was sold out and I would not be able to receive a replacement box. But they did say they would refund my account of the amount $17. This would have been only my second box from Allure and I was totally looking forward to it! So sad that I wasn’t able to get it🙁

  10. Got my box yesterday and LOVE it. I was a bit worried about the lipstick color but it looks great on. The lipliner is a bit brown in comparison to the lip color, so you just have to soften it a bit to make it work.

While I don’t agree with many of her beliefs, I do really like her products and that she doesn’t test on animals. And who knows, maybe the anti-vax thing will change.

  11. never understood the likability of von d. i think she’s over hyped, coddled and liked solely for her “alternative cool girl” appearance, when in reality she’s a intolerant nut job.
had planned on giving this box to my hairdresser who loves her some kat von d, but sadly her anti vax stance has made her persona non grata so i am stuck with it.
I wish Allure had an easier way to send comments regarding the beauty boxes, because they would of gotten an earful, however Kendo Brands (Which owns the line certainly did)
Looking on the bright side I got a full size Henriksen walnut scrub out of this deal.

    • Allure boxes are supposed to be curated. There was nothing here that was curated except maybe the eyeliner. This box was a themed box and I would have never paid for this. Box value ~$70? We didn’t even get a full size lippie. And I don’t even understand the scrub. The entire box is literally KVD and then there’s this odd scrub to round out the minimum of five items. And the purse mirror? Seriously? Something like that is usually a freebie and it’s listed in the booklet for retail $18 but the $18 mirror on the KVD website is a full-size handheld mirror. Kat Von Disease gave us almost nothing and Allure robbed us of our usual curated box. I don’t even care about her anti-vax right now, I’m angry that she’s so stingy and Allure was like oh hey ok let’s put nothing but sample size crap in the box. Like I guess she thinks of all of us as so poor we’ll happily take the stuff she throws out? Because btw folks, spend $50 on her site and you can get the eyeliner. So it’s a freebie for anyone, not just our Allure box.

      • The scrub is owned by the same parent company as KVD

  12. Sorry. To each their own. I don’t live their lives and they don’t live mine. I’m just looking forward to this box and for me-that’s as deep as it gets!😉

    • Yes, I agree. We don’t need to judge. Vaccines do have side effects. So who knows? I am not buying her beliefs but her products.

      • My box is scheduled for delivery today!!! Sooooo excited to get it!

  13. I got my box today and noticed I have a “g” engraved on my walnut scrub? I noticed in your review, you also have a “g” engraved on your scrub… So weird, I wonder what it means and why it’s there? Does everyone have a “g” engraved on their walnut scrubs?

    • I noticed that too on my Ole scrub. Maybe they’re marking things so people can’t return items?

My free gift for a new subscriber was in the box too, it’s the Tarte mascara. I was hoping for the perfume. I also got the mirror nicely packed, perfect for my purse. I don’t usually save boxes but I’m recycling this to store makeup items in

      • Sorry. Just read your comment above. I see you were thinking the same thing about the “g mystery “! Lol

      • Me too! But I noticed in the spoiler pics, u can make out the carving as well. I actually just had to complain about my box, and I did mention a out the carving as well so we’ll see what they say.

    • Mine does too!!! I got the box with the mirror. The funny thing is that I did notice it when I looked at the bottle and thought maybe it was odd,but then I just kinda brushed it off as maybe it’s a weird coincidence. Hmmm…now I’m intrigued and want to know too lol

    • I’ll let ya know if I have a “g” on the scrub bottle. Wonder if it stands for “gift “? (Such as free gift). Maybe that’s for store return purposes or something? Idk. Sounds like a mystery to me. Lol

    • That’s a pretty creepy looking g!

      • whats even crazier that it looks like someone had to engrave all of those by hand!

    • I also had a g on mine, noticed it right away. Was planning on gifting it, but don’t want to now with the creepy g on the back.

  14. I got my box today and the mirror arrived packed in a protective envelope.

    Not a scratch.

  15. If I bought a 3 month gift subscription on 6/10 for my daughter, in addition to my ongoing subscription, I should get 2 of the same boxes this month and for two more months, yes? Just wondering because I only have one tracking so far.

    • I will answer my own question. Just received the first of the three month gift. Email tracking sent the same day it arrived. This box had the lip liner, lipstick, eyeliner, mirror, walnut scrub, and sinner perfume.

  16. I’m bummed!

Got my ship notification yesterday and it’s just leaving the shipping facility in Iowa. So, Saturday at the earliest.

    • I got lucky, got it today (Friday).

  17. Not excited about the K von D box. Most of that stuff I don’t need. Wanted more skincare/coverage/powder.

I finally got my “free” gift and it’s a repeat of the box i just got. What?! I hate it – i don’t need a repeat of last month’s box that wasn’t that great anyway. The customer service is just awful. Takes forever to get a response and they are so unorganized.

  18. You’re telling me that Kat’s hubby is a Luciferian? Cool. That makes this box even more intriguing!

  19. I’m bummed. I ordered my box in June and expected to get the Kat Von D. box, buy I didn’t get it. >(

    • You didn’t get the Kat Von D box?!! That’s the only reason I signed up for Allure …I’m new !

      • Is it possible yours just didn’t arrive yet? The first box often shows up the next month but is still the month you signed up for. I re-joined this sub in May and while I got the May box, I didn’t get it until June 11.

      • I got version one box yesterday…the 18th….your June box should be on its way.??? lip liner came broken…like all the product is in the cap? Anyone else have the same problem?

      • Thanks Bonnie! Nah I haven’t gotten the box yet…ill just hang out and wait to see if it’s late. I was just wondering if you got a totally different box than was advertised? Different products? I’m new at this

  20. So I double checked… And they removed the mirror D: that’s what I really wanted 🙁

    • Is there a replacement for the mirror? I don’t really need a hand mirror, but, it would be a nice complement to the collection.

      • Theyre doing the liquid lip instead.

      • I only ordered it because of the liquid lip. It specifically said it on the site when I ordered it that it was included. That was my selling point. I got the damn mirror. I’m pissed!

  21. Why won’t my comments get posted?! I had tried twice a few days ago – nothing.

    • I’m having the same issue!!! ugh

  22. A little off subject here, but have any of you that are regular subscribers , not been billed, for this month? I haven’t, for some reason. Just wondering …

    • I was billed on the 8th.

  23. Get off your soap boxes already

You don’t like her stance on something or her husbands religion…move on with your life and stop trying to force your beliefs down other peoples throats.

Do i think not vaccinating your kids is right, of course not but i am not jumping up and down having a fit about it.

No one has any right to try to tell someone their religious beliefs are wrong, end of story.

    • Not wanting to support some celeb. who is a practicing Luciferian with a spouse is a person’s individual right.
It has to do with the money, and support of those beliefs that most people find untenable.
Likewise, I understand the push back over the Lagerfeld Glossybox. He’s recently made extremely unsavory remarks about half the world’s population- females.

If that’s all OK with some people, then maybe they lack personal convictions and boundaries. :). Tolerance has never meant blind acceptance and financial support.

      • So basically you know the practices and beliefs behind every dime you spend? I doubt it. While I don’t agree with everything she believes I can also say that about every other human on earth. We are all individuals, we all get to be the person we choose to be. We don’t have to conform to fit others. She runs a business, I like her products and I will buy them.

      • Michelle, no, of course not. But most people with radical beliefs with an enormous potential to hurt others either are failures, or they keep their beliefs to themselves and don’t try to influence others.
Both KVD and KL have tried to influence others in negative ways with their outspokenness.
The difference between an average person being against a health practice which saves children’s lives or an average man saying something against women which is hateful and rude is that a CELEBRITY has an unfair advantage.. it’s how they get into the news in the first place when they make the statements. They know they can USE their status as celebrities, which is a form of manipulation. Whether everyone understands this principle or not, it is manipulation due to perceived status by some segment of the population. 🙂

      • Celebs. get their outrageous statements into the news because they are celebs.
I didn’t make either KVD or KL a celeb. nor do I have to support them or any other person in any way who is saying outrageous things about a large segment of the population.
The difference is the ability of some to influence large numbers of people and using status in a harmful way vs. keeping silent and living one’s own life in a graceful way, regardless of celeb. status.

      • She’s not using her status to influence other people. She’s sharing her own opinion. Have you read up on Luciferism or are you outraged over the word Lucifer?
Do you use Mac or Benefit cosmetics? They literally poke bunnies in the eyes.

      • Well said, we need to separate personal beliefs from financial transactions. I do buy all my clothing from ethically sourced venues, but you are not to blame from buying products from a company or person who has different opinions and beliefs from your own. We do have freedom to buy from whomever we wish and do not have the right to judge others for their buying preferences. I used to be a vegetarian and was so judgmental of carnivores, but now I understand that one’s personal preference is not for me to judge.

      • Yes, you are right, there is no space for righteous indignation. Do we really need a repeat of the witch burnings.

      • Satanists and Luciferians are not the same religion.

Mr. von D’s religion might more closely be described as pagan.

Though I think at least some of it’s a put-on.

      • The only thing I like about Lagerfeld is his cat.

  24. How about the irony of an anti-vax stance vs. all the “ink vaccinations” this woman pumped into her skin – the body’s largest organ. As human beings we run the risk of infection every time the skin in pierced, which includes the process of tattooing. Everyone with a tattoo is going to breath fire at me for posting this….. be that as it may, it is what it is – a foreign substance introduced into your body via multiple needle piercings. (See Mayo Clinic’s website for the list of health risks of tattooing.)

On the topic of Allure pairing with KvD to curate this box with her products, I dont understand why some celebs need to sound off publicly about their personal beliefs. It usually isn’t good for business, especially in today’s PC-conscious world, there will always be heated discourse between those who agree and those who dont. Controversial subjects should be a common-sense topic to avoid if one is in the business of selling a product to the public. I guess Allure either doesn’t care or or isn’t afraid of turning off some subscribers due to KvD’s publicly-stated anti-vaccination views, knowing it is a hot-button issue for many people. They’re just in the business to promote the cosmetic and skin care products and brands they partner with.

If I sampled a product in a sub box and there was some controversy surrounding the manufacturer that resonated with me personally, I would think twice about making any additional outright purchases from the company. It’s true that sometimes an ill-advised comment from a high-up can taint a brand’s reputation.

    • Very well said.

    • I got told her tattoos weren’t relevant when I criticized the fact she seemed to be fine with that (also tattoo inks are largely unregulated by the FDA and a study showed 25% of a bunch of unopened inks they tested had bacteria)…and someone told me off for it. I have tattoos and love them, but yeah she’s a nutter. Haha, either way thank you for being the only other person I’ve seen so far who also questioned the tattoo hypocrisy as well lol

      • Not to mention she’s willing to tattoo people for money. But does she ask them if they had a vaccine in the past week or so ? Or is it only people that don’t give her money that have vaccine shedd ?? Stand by your beliefs if you want kat, but don’t cave when it comes to your profit margin.

  25. The people saying that she is entitled to her own opinions are complete opposites of KVD. Remember last year she took away a contest winners prize because of how the girl voted. She is super judgemental but can’t take others criticism on a much more serious potentially life threatening topic.

  26. You’re right, Paula, it is very off topic. I just wanted to clarify why I would not support her financially going forward in response to the direct question above.

Social media and an electronic “platform” have both truly destroyed societal norms. I am not saying these are things to be ashamed of, but in this constant age of instant gratification for celebs and pseudo-celebs, as well as “real folk” that are not in the public eye, posting inflammatory or controversial topics or subject matter is seemingly done intentionally. Again, why did she have to share this at all? She knew this was controversial, and since this is HER child, why did she have to put it out there in the public? If she wanted to promote the anti-vax agenda, she certainly went about it the wrong way, by telling people to F* off.

I think that’s the difference between celebs who are somewhat “flash in the pan” and CEOs: for the most part, CEOs are smart enough to realize that the court of public opinion can, and will, judge them for anything and everything they say. Unfortunately, celebrities think that their very celebrity status gives them a free pass on anything and everything they say and do – and in a lot of cases, sadly, they are correct.

Stepping off my soap box now. Thank you.

  27. I’ve been following this story ever since KVD told people to get the f*** off her Facebook page if they didn’t like her anti-vaxx policies. Now pro-vaxxers are posting the same mean crap she initially posted.

Is this how it is in 2018? People curse and stamp one another down for having a different opinion? I’m for vaccinating. I think you’re wrong if you avoid it, and it’s heartless and cruel to not vaccinate your children.

But people CAN change their minds. But telling them to f*** off and other such stuff isn’t the way to convince anyone of anything, unless your idea is to convince them how rotten people can be.

The vulgarity and ugliness on both sides is really hard to take. If you can’t convince someone in a kind, sane way, then please, just keep quiet. All you’re doing is making it worse (that applies to KVD, the anti-vaxx crowd and the pro-vaxx set.)

    • Maybe I missed a comment in my scrolling but I never saw any “pro vax” comments on this post telling anyone to f off or really be overly rude. I saw many people express their disagreement, plan to boycott the box, or share explanations of how the choice of not vaccinating does not just affect you and your child…in can affect public health in general. So, yes, in this case it is an argument that many get invested in. Since I have a friend with a child not able to get vaccinations who will now spend her and his entire life avoiding society and worrying about every fever and sniffle I can’t help but to take a stand for those who aren’t lucky enough to get the “choice” either.

    • Google her husband’s name and you’ll see where most of this likely originated. His belief system is what I’d call ” upside down”, to put it mildly.

      • She lost me when she refused to give the winner of her contest the prize because she had picture of a MAGA hat on her Fb page. KVD threw a big fit like a baby and refused the give her the prize. So childish. And now she married a second generation Luciferion. Its too much. I’m done.

      • The whole multiple nzi stuff wasn’t enough before? (Kidding here, sarcasm not a personal attack.) I didn’t know she wouldn’t give out a prize, didn’t someone have some drama over a giveaway recently? Surprised she didn’t get in trouble for it as well.

  28. I was so excited to get this box, but KVD saying she wouldn’t vaccinate her kid really threw me off.
I immediately cancelled my pending order.

I really wanted that scrub too gah!

    • How did you cancel? I’m trying to do the same, but I can’t see on the website any option to do so.

      • You have to call or email Allure. It’s a pain.

  29. i’m excited about this box! i especially love the black box, i’ll be keeping and using it for storage! i also love the colors! i really hope the pink isn’t too browni-ish like a lot of pins they send out in sub boxes lately.

my only complaint is the mirror. it’s awesome, but i wish it closed or came with a pouch since i’ll be using it in my bag, i’d hate to scratch the mirror. guess i’ll have to find something to put it in. 🙂

unlike a lot of people lately, i do appreciate KVD and her style. she’s gorgeous and makes a great make up line. <3

    • Couldn’t have said it better myself!

    • Agreed with everything you just posted!!! 🙂 I might not agree with everything she says and does, but I’m not looking towards her as a role model or even to sway my beliefs. She has created a great make up line in my opinion and that’s the extent of her influence on me. Now if it was something she did regarding her makeup line that I didn’t agree with then that would be a different story. In my opinion there’s so many people who let others (especially celebrities) influences how they should act or think way too much and not as their own person. Anyways…can’t wait to get my box!!! Lol

  30. I have one of my boxes already- if your mail has to stay outside in your mailbox for hours in the hot sun, the lip liner stays nice and firm. There were some clear drops on the lipstick but they disappeared after being indoors for a bit.
Nothing else had any changes at all.

Overall, it’s a very nice box of makeup, and I especially appreciated the Ole Henriksen scrub being full sized.
I’d like to say more about KVD but Google her husband’s name and that tells you the answer to every question or concern you might have about her practices. It’s probably not her, as I never thought of her as having stand out issues before now, but is likely his belief system.

    • Hey, have you had this sub box for a while? I just signed up yesterday specifically for this box and I’ve been doing some reading and apparently it takes forever to get your first box (if you get it at all).

      • I signed up for my first box (May) on May 25th, and received the box yesterday, June 13th. I did get an email the day before I think that it had shipped. I have not yet been charged, though for June.

    • Not sure how I accidentally posted to the top.. More context for this comment towards the bottom. Sorry guys!

    • Thank you for this information!

    • How sad. Thank you for sharing. I remember my friend freaking out last year bc she was never vaccinated and there was an outbreak of measles that people had picked up from Disneyland. So sad and dangerous.

    • I have a cousin I love very much who has completely subscribed to the non-vaxx world. She has many children and runs numerous businesses selling her homemade goods and her knowledge. Sigh. I have the “crunchiest “ credentials (COA alumn. Points if anyone knows school), but I just cannot. Because, science.

      • I also have an antivax cousin now with five kids whom she is homeschooling, and on the side she writes books about the importance of female purity. She does not deal in facts and I feel sorry for those kids.

    • Thank you!! I’m pretty bummed she used her platform to spread dangerous mis-information.

  31. This was my first box and I LOVED having a themed box. I’ve had subscriptions before but they had no theme – like couldn’t even where them together.

I also liked the high end. If this keeps up I will keep my subscription.

    • Some of the indie sub boxes have themes. Notoriously Morbid, Apocalyptic Beauty, and Darling Girl Cosmetics all have themed boxes. Although they are color cosmetics with no skin care.

  32. So disappointing that the lip liner is in the color Lolita and not OG Lolita like what was in the spoilers. OG Lolita is much pinker…regular Lolita is browner.

    • I didn’t even notice that! You’re right, I was excited for the OG Lolita.

  33. I thought another lippie was supposed to be included as well? A liquid one. I guess we’ll get only one kind…

    • That’s true!!! Where is the liquid lipstick? Anyone knows????

      • The liquid lipstick was just announced as a 2nd variation of the box for people that sign up today, not current subscribers. I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who say s liquid lipstick was to be in the box awhile back

      • Yes! It was all along supposed to be there along with the mirror, not as a variation.

  34. I like how they want all themed for this box. I’ve never seen an Allure box that wasn’t red.

    • I know I’ll be keeping the box because it’s different.

These boxes are really nice for re-purposing. Sturdy and not too small.

My husband swiped one for something I don’t remember.

  35. Just wanted to note that the lip liner is technically not the full size one you see at Sephora. The one at Sephora is .01 oz/.3 g, while the one in the box is .009 oz/.25 g.

    • FYI – we checked into this before publishing the review, and Sephora has the wrong sizing listed for the lip liner. (You can see the correct sizing on the packaging vs the incorrect sizing Sephora has listed on this Kat Von D lip kit.) This lip liner is the correct full size. Hope that helps clarify! Sorry for any confusion!

      • That does help, thanks for letting me know!

  36. Haven’t received any email with shipping info yet. Assuming review sites get theirs sooner than the rest of subscribers??

Looking forward to getting this box. It’s my first one, I only subbed to get these products, may hold onto it for a few months

    • Yes, we got this box early for review. I also pay for a subscription and haven’t received that one yet. Hope that helps! 🙂

      • Yes thanks!

    • I find with the Allure box it usually arrives six calendar days from the date I’m charged. I’m in the Detroit area.

Allure is very hit or miss on shipping info. I’ve gotten it not at all, right after it ships, the day it arrives, a couple days after.

I’ve been a subscriber for several years, so I went by historical data. I only ever had one box not arrive, so the record is good.

      • Thanks! I was charged a week ago appreciate you sharing your experience with shipping. I’m looking forward to getting my first box & hoping for the perfume as my free gift (which means I’ll probably get the mascara).

      • Yay! I’m from the Detroit area too. Not sure why this excited me lol

      • It’s just nice to know.

To be precise, I’m in Saint Clair Shores.

      • Yeah. My son and family live on violet st !!

    • I received my box 2 days ago and I subscribe through Amazon. I received the exact same box as reviewed. I live in Minnesota.

  37. I’m going to order a second box bc my daughter will want all my stuff in this box. I thought there was going to be a perfume for some reason.

    • If you sign up for a new subscription, you’ll get $5 off and a bonus gift of either Kat Von D perfume, or tarteist mascara. (It’s randomly selected.) Hope that helps!

      • Hi Liz – your links don’t seem to work for Canadian users – I’ve tried to connect using the “link” to get $5 off, or “go to this page to sign up” etc and I can’t get further than “”. Nothing else comes up. Any suggestions?

      • Sorry, we’ve had some readers tell us that the link doesn’t work for them unless they turn off their ad-blockers. Also, Allure Beauty Box doesn’t ship to Canada – sorry!

    • I signed up for a second sub for my daughter as well. I’m so excited for her. ;D

      • I’m doing all I can to get my almost 15yr old to jump in the makeup band wagon. She has a drawer full of makeup, bags and tools and only wears makeup maybe once every 6 weeks (?!) She’s killing me!!

      • If she’s not into it, why are you pushing so hard?

      • It’s nice that you’re willing to spoil her with so much stuff but if she’s not into it, don’t push it. I hardly wore make-up at all as a teenager and in my 20s but I’m having alot of fun learning and experimenting now. I just thought it was too much of a hassle and made me look “fake” before. Let her enjoy her youthful skin and glow while she can…and be there if she decides she wants to start experimenting more when she gets older! I wish I had someone to “consult” now when I feel dumb for not knowing stuff or needing tips in my 30s…when I want to look younger. Lol.

      • I have a beautiful 17 (almost 18) year old daughter. She has a large makeup collection, but usually only does her mani-pedi, except on special occasions. She attended all three proms this past few weeks, and put on false eyelashes, and did her own makeup and hair. She did a fantastic job. She’s very athletic, and also conscious of dressing nicely when she goes out. I’ve never said anything to her about wearing more makeup- she looks great without any, and stunning with it on when she chooses to. I’m not sure every 14-18 year old wants or needs to wear makeup. I’m conscious of my affect on my daughters self esteem, and it certainly doesn’t frustrate me if she chooses not to wear makeup. She has great skin- why camouflage it? There are a lot of girls her age that don’t apply makeup well, or apply way too much, and it’s detrimental to their appearance. It also amazes me that some girls are so focused on having the longest hair of their peers that they allow it to become ratty and split at the ends, and it really detracts from their appearance. My daughter cut over a foot off her hair, and it’s always in super shiny, and in great condition. While I liked her long hair, it’s HER hair, just like it’s her face with the makeup or not.

      • Maybe she’s not comfortable wearing makeup. Maybe she knows that she doesn’t need makeup to be beautiful. Being pushed by a parent into being someone you’re not is never healthy.

      • Push for skincare instead. Makeup hides the problems. Skincare can prevent the problems.

      • My almost 13 year old is the one who got me into makeup. I usually wear the basics, but she’s into everything! I have a new appreciation for makeup, and while I still don’t wear a ton, I enjoy trying new things and sharing the fun with her. We’re going to Beautycon next month and it will be such a fun mom/ daughter weekend! 🙂

      • Me too. I’ve worn makeup but now it’s more fun. My daughter will be 14 soon and we have fun times together at the makeup stores and we really like the KVD line. I ordered her a 3 month gift subscription yesterday. I hope I ordered in time for her to receive this box!

      • My mother tried pushing makeup and all things girly on me when I was a teen and I was a serious tomboy my whole life. I’m 30 and have only been hardcore into makeup the last year or so and only have begun wearing dresses and “girly fashion “ in the last 4 years. I resented my mother for years for trying to make me like something I didn’t want for years and it really hurt the relationship we had since we had other similar interests. The fact that you say “she’s killing me” for not liking makeup is messed up and pathetic and immature. If you love your daughter, let her be her, nurture what makes her unique and stop pushing your likes/hobbies onto her because she doesn’t have to like everything you do.

      • I can definitely see why you’d want your daughter to wear a little make-up sometimes, so I don’t fault you at all! Having said that, I kind of wish someone had done the opposite and not allowed me to wear make-up when I was young. I was so self-conscious and had horrible self-esteem, and got used to feeling like I needed the make-up and curled hair to look even semi-okay. Now I’m almost 40 and can’t leave the house without my full face and my hair curled. I’m still so self-conscious about how I look (with and without make-up) and am actually envious of the ladies who are comfortable enough to go out with their hair pulled up and with little-to-no make-up on. While a little make-up can certainly make you feel a little more girly and polished, you might be helping your daughter in the long run if you let her continue to feel comfortable with no make-up at all.

      • Lol…she’s a teen. She doesn’t have to wear makeup if she doesn’t want to BUT if you really want her to like it, tell her she’s not allowed to wear it 😉

      • My daughter wouldn’t wear any makeup until her last year of high school. Said having phy-ed in the morning or anytime of the day was not worth putting it on. You would have to wash it off or redo.

  38. I was really excited about this box until I read all of KVD’s antivax nonsense. I like her products and I’ll hang onto and use what’s in the box, but I won’t be purchasing any of these things after they’re gone.

    • You are not alone. At least we know that her makeup must be cruelty-free.

      • It is. She’s adamant about that.

    • Why would her stance on vaccinations affect your excitement for the box? I don’t see that as anything that has anything to do with her makeup line.

      • Right??? Everyone is entitled to freedom in this country. Judging isn’t anyone’s job but God since I last checked. Besides Kat rocks it like a avalanche.

      • I disagree. I don’t judge anybody, and I believe in live and let live. However with antivexxers their behavior impacts other people. It’s dangerous and stupid.

      • Anybody who actually believes that anti-vaxxers only affect themselves and their children and are no real cause for concern have no idea how herd immunity works. There are many people in the community who aren’t vaccinated for legitimate reasons or have compromised immune systems. Anti-vaxxers put these people at risk for their own gratification. I’m sure as hell going to judge them. And if someone’s God doesn’t like that, then that’s a risk I’m willing to take. There’s worse things in life than judging people. Like murder.

      • Nobody has a right to my body. I will not get a disease introduced to me through a needle because of you. I am not doing it because of my “gratification”, but because believe in vaccines no more than I believe in healing stones.

      • This is actually addressed to Emilia, who commented on this post, but apparently has her own replies turned off.

I am just curious: if you don’t think vaccines work, how do you think diseases like small pox, polio, diphtheria, rubella, measles, rabies, and more have stopped spreading?

      • Suzy: hygiene and proper nutrition.

      • Because I don’t want to financially support someone who would choose to put the health of others (i.e. the elderly, newborns, people with compromised immune systems) at risk. That’s why.

      • Yup, I’m in exactly the same boat! Not putting my money in the hands of nonsense. So disappointed!!! I loved her formulas!

      • It is insane to me how many people handwave how dangerous antivaxxers are. She was already on my personal do not rebuy afyer I found out about the antisemitism, but this really seals the deal for me.

      • I agree 100%. I am thinking about selling my KVD items from this box on eBay and donating the proceeds to UNICEF or the Gates Foundation.

      • You know what, that’s a fantastic idea. I didn’t buy the box but was going to until I learned of all this negativity about her. I’ll just donate that $15 to a good cause instead.

      • Well said DG. I encourage anyone who is wondering why this matters so much to do some quick research on herd immunity.

      • babies can die when they are exposed to someone with measles. It is so contagious that one person in a dr office with measles can and probably will infect any person not vaccinated such as babies who are not old enough to be fully vaccinated yet

      • So disappointing!! I did not know this about her. A friend of mine’s little boy was hospitalized around the age of 1. He could have died because he was exposed to whooping cough by someone not vaccinated. He was on oxygen for awhile & my friend was absolutely horrified. My 21 year old Son had all required immunizations, plus some that weren’t required but his Dr suggested to prevent prostate cancer. It was a series of shots when he was 14-16, but if I can protect my child I will. There’s absolutely no excuse to not vaccinate.

      • Same here! I was soo excited and getting ready to sub just because of this box, but I cannot support that kind of nonsense. I’ll be waiting until later to subscribe.

      • Same! I was REALLY excited at first. But definitely not subscribing now. Maybe next month.

      • My feelings exactly.

      • 🙄🙄🙄

      • Well stated. 100% agree

      • Wonder how long before this anti-vaxer starts tattooing her innocent infant.

      • WOW, What kind of response do you expect to illicit when you’re throwing accusations like that around. I’m not an anti vaccination fan, my kids are vaccinated and I don’t agree with her but it is her choice it’s not illegal .

      • It had everything to do with the box because if you don’t support anti-vax people, you also don’t want to help support their lifestyle AKA give her any kind of money with this box.

      • It’s because giving financial support to those who have such a large following allows them to promote their dangerous anti-vaccine agenda. It’s not just measles that people need to be worried about, but pertussis, rubella, meningitis, and even smallpox. I wonder if anti-vaxxers refuse to have their pets vaccinated for rabies. I didn’t cancel my box, but I am disappointed that such an intelligent and savvy business woman could make such a decision – and I don’t necessarily mean the anti-vaccine decision, but the decision to broadcast it to the world. That should be a private matter, and it says more to me about her and her husband than anything else.

      • Agreed. Just like with my friends, I don’t let someone’s medical or religious beliefs affect what I think of them. The quality or the environmental impact of her makeup isn’t affected by her stance on vaccinations – and in light of that, it’s rather off topic here, just as i believe has nothing to do with her makeup. There’s so many stances on so many topics today. Think about it: if we all researched the beliefs and opinions of owners/Ceo’s of companies, we’d likely never buy anything!

      • You’re right, Paula, it is very off topic.

Thank you.

      • ⬆️⬆️⬆️ Thank you Paula! While I appreciate everyone’s opnion, please discuss this topic in a scientific forum. I’m all about positivity and lifting all women up not pointing their flaws. We all have different beliefs so let’s respect one another.

    • Agreed! It’s disappointing.

    • OH no, that is super disappointing. 🙁

      • “Experts suspect many of us cannot appreciate the severity of a measles infection, because we have not lived through an epidemic; but the symptoms of measles – an airborne virus that Stephen Cochi, senior adviser with the CDC’s global immunization division, calls “probably the most contagious infectious disease known to mankind”– are as serious as they are ghastly to behold.”

      • I do wish the ingredient list in vaccs weren’t so dangerous. As a parent of an Autistic child I do wonder if I made the right decision vaccinating.

      • Vaccines do not cause autism. There is absolutely no relationship between the two. The paper that claimed there is a relationship between the two has been widely discredited by the medical community and the cdc. You did a wonderful thing by vaccinating your child!!

      • If you’re seriously thinking about mercury right now I implore you to do your research.
People tend to overgeneralize what’s in them & it’s not fair children who can get affected by your misgivings.

    • She’s vegan and very pregnant at the moment. Having anti vaccination views seems a reasonable assumption for someone in her place. Her views may change with time and experiences. No need to judge someone for this just yet, imho. She hasn’t openly exposed anyone to anything. Bring on the excellent makeup!

      • Honestly I want to believe that she’ll do the right thing, but I’m not sure.
The fact that she brought up her being vegan & giving home births as she was taking heat for those things just as badly as she is now for not wanting to vaccinate threw me off quite a bit. She went into full victim mode & made it seem as though those 2 things are on par with being an anti-vaxxer. I’ll just blame it on motherly hormones.

KVD has always been famous for being hardheaded with her stances. Most anti-vaxxers don’t change their opinion unless their child gets severely sick—I don’t wish that upon anybody, but I just don’t see KVD changing her mind unless that DOES happen.

      • Very well-put! I don’t agree with people’s decisions not to vaccinate, but do i judge them for it? No way! And it certainly wouldn’t stop me from supporting them if they make excellent products!

      • I most definitely judge that ignorant decision. Her child’s pertussis might kill my elderly mom.

I wish she’d make a decision from a place of knowledge instead of fear and image.

      • Anti-vaxxers are never taking a reasonable stance, pregnant or not. They are risking lives, unnecessarily. As for folks who think certain makeup ingredients are dangerous, I hope you have real science supporting your beliefs. I’d hate to think you’re throwing money away. Gwyneth Paltrow, Jenny McCarthy, Kat Von D, and countless others have gotten rich from spewing ignorance. Please don’t add to this.

      • She Specifically mentioned and said that NO one is going to change of mind about her decision, if anyone didn’t like it click the unfollow button.
