Now, on to the items!

Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional Face Primer – 3 ml Value $4.80

This primer is a classic I’ve sampled many times before. The formula feels super smooth on my skin and does a great job of temporarily filling in pores so that they look invisible.

Alterna Caviar CC Cream for Hair 10-in-1 Complete Correction – 25 ml Value $8.78

Alterna is one of my all-time favorite haircare lines. Their products are all free from ingredients you may want to avoid (parabens, phthalates, etc.) and the formulas work well and smell amazing, too. This CC Cream is designed to provide “moisture, shine, smoothness, softness, anti-breakage, heat protection, light hold, UV protection, manageability, and strength.”

I can tell a difference in my hair softness and shine when I apply it to damp hair. It’s also great as a finishing product for dry hair to manage frizz and flyaways.

bareminerals Mineral Veil – .75 g Value $2.03

This is a fine powder that goes on sheer and does exactly what you want from a setting powder: it gets rid of shine, and gives you a more airbrushed finish!

Sephora Collection Mud Mask Purifying & Mattifying – .33 oz Value $3.33

This was a great discovery for me! I love the scent (but I might be in the minority looking at some Sephora reviews), and I think the formula is comparable to GlamGlow. It goes on grey, dries to a lighter grey/white, then you remove with water. It left my skin feeling soft, smooth and super clean.

Buxom Lash Mascara – 6 ml Value $12

I’ve yet to find a Buxom mascara that I didn’t love, and this one continues that streak. It’s great! The forumla doesn’t clump at all, and it provides good volume and length. On the drama scale of 1-10, I’d give this about a 7. It’s a little more natural looking than some high-impact mascaras, and it’s perfect for everyday use for me.

Atelier Cologne Clementine California – 2 ml? Value $5

Almost every Play! by Sephora box will also include a fragrance sample as the sixth item. This scent has notes of Clementine, Mandarin, Juniper Berries, Star Anise, Sichuan Pepper, Basilica, Vetiver, Sandalwood, Cypress.

I really liked this scent! I don’t wear perfume often, but I’m keeping this vial around for the next time I do!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $35.94. I think that’s good for a $10 beauty box, especially since the box will always include high-end brands. The negative for me personally is that I’ve sampled most of these products before thanks to Sephora and other subscription boxes. (The mask is a welcome new discovery, though!) On the flip side, every item in this box is a win for me!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. You have to sign up by the 15th to receive that month’s box, so as of today (5/24), your first box will be the June box.

What do you think about the June Play! by Sephora box? What variation did you get?

  1. This was my box too. I really liked the Alterna hair caviar. It smells good and I like how my hair feels. I also liked the perfume. I tend to go for fruity and floral scents, so this was right up my alley.

  2. I was so excited to redeem my 50 points online but then I realized you can’t use any promo codes if you do so I won’t be using it 🙁

  3. I a different version of the box and it was pretty good but I was so hoping to try the mineral Veil powder buy Bare Minerals! I’ve been using their Foundation powder for about a month and I absolutely love it and have been debating on whether I need this or not since I have their Contour palette also can anyone give me their opinion on how it’s working for them? Thank you!

    • I love the mineral veil! I use the power foundation also and I think it definitely makes the skin look more poreless and blends out blush/bronzer.

    • I’m putting mine up for sale on eBay for$5 Bricks4Brats. Is my handle

  4. Are the points coupons going to be able to be used online going forward or just this month?

    • Just this month. It’s a promo code and you need to make a $20 minimum purchase to use it.

      • Oh that’s too bad. I would sign up if they allowed them to be used online all the time.

    • I’m hoping this is an experiment to see how many do.

With all the construction going on, the only convenient Sephora is 15 minutes from my workplace. The staffers are all very nice, but I don’t want to go during lunch and by the end of the workday, all I want to do is go home. I don’t want to go back on the weekend because the road construction would make it take forever.

My nearest is in a JC Penney, and is tiny. The other closest full store is a little hard to get to because of other construction.

  5. The bag was super cute this month. Loved my box this month.

  6. Their bag this month is cute with the denim/shoelace look. 🙂

  7. This was my box. Nothing earth-shattering but I’ll use everything so that’s a plus.

    • I felt the same way! Super exciting? No. Super useful? yep!

  8. Wow! If every month was like that, I would have kept my Sephora Play sub active!

    • I love the bag! cannot wait to get mine. I did cancel though -due to budget constraints. Will only keep FFF, Margot Elena and Boxycharm 🙂

    • I was thinking the same thing, Heather!
