Australis Cosmetics Banana Powder - Retail Value $15.95

I typically use a translucent powder to set any makeup I wear, but I’ve heard so much about banana powders. I struggle with redness from eczema and the yellow cast in this powder helps neutralize that when dusted all over. It also is great for setting under the eye and helps to brighten. I experienced a little bit of dryness when using this so I made sure to moisturize well before applying. I like the size of the pan because I can get my big, fluffy brush in there.

Andalou Naturals Clarity + Enlightenment Konjac Facial Sponge - Retail Value $7.99

I’ve recently started using konjac sponges to freshen my face in the morning so I’m glad to receive this duo (it is time to replace mine). The set has two vegan sponges made from konjac root powder; one infused with willow bark extract to help with clarifying and one infused with turmeric for brightening. They are hard in the package but become soft and kind of slimey when you wet them. They can be used with cleanser or alone. A bonus sample of Renewal Cream is included and it is lightweight and smells like orange zest.

Cailyn Cosmetics Pure Lust Extreme Matte Tint + Velvet in Honorable - Retail Value $19

This pretty mauve shade is one of my favorites for my skintone. The formula is matte and velvety, like the name says, and isn’t thick and crackly like many matte liquid lipsticks. It dries down fast and leaves no tacky feel, yay! I love that I can layer a clear gloss over it for moisture and it stays put. There are lots of shades in this range too so I may need to check them out.

Australis Cosmetics Eyes on Unicorn Cream Eyeshadow Palette - Retail Value $19.99

The duochrome topper look is popping up everywhere right now and this is a great palette to play with since it is subtle. These cream shadows look a little boring in the pans but the different shades are really pretty once applied and are great as eyeshadow toppers or as a highlighter. They have a tendency to crease, so setting them with powder is a must.

Dermasuri Rice Milk Brightening Face Exfoliator - Retail Value $29.99

So, I expected this to be a grainy polish but it is actually a clear gel. You apply a few pumps on damp skin and it starts to pill up, supposedly taking dead skin and impurities with it. It is gentle and rinses clean but I’m not sure I notice a difference in how exfoliated my skin feels.

Here I’ve used the products together. I set my CC cream with the banana powder and it helped brighten and reduce some redness I had. I applied a simple eyeshadow look with a nude and dark brown and layered some shades form the cream eyeshadow palette on top; the rose gold on the outer corners, champagne on the inner lid, and some of the purple on the inner corner. Then, a layer of the matte lippy.

The Verdict: This month, Lola Beauty Box concentrated on skincare and makeup. I’m loving the powder and liquid lip and I was in need of some new konjac sponges. Everything is full sized and with a value of $91.92, they come through on their promise of at least a $70 value. That’s great for a $21 box that always introduces me to new types of products and brands. Lola Beauty box is actually one of my favorite beauty boxes because there is always at least one product that I enjoy enough to repurchase for myself.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? If you sign up today, your first box will be the May box.

Value Breakdown: The box cost $21.00, and I estimate that I received $91.92 in value. That means I spent approximately the following on each item:

  • Australis Powder: Retail Value $3.42
  • Andalou Sponge: Retail Value $1.83
  • Cailyn Lipcolor: Retail Value $4.34
  • Australis Eyeshadow Palette: Retail Value $4.57
  • Dermasuri Exfoliator: Retail Value $6.85

March?? Did the box arrive very late or is the review just late posting? Just curious as I wouldn’t be happy with a box arriving so late.

The boxes are supposed to ship by the 15th I think. They have been arriving late but so far I’ve gotten the boxes in the month they are supposed to arrive (April just barely snuck in but I did get it in April). LOL. What stinks though is that they charge you the last day of the previous month. So you basically wait almost an entire month now after billing before you get your box.

Bomibox does something similar. They charge around the 20th but don’t ship till end of the next month so you could be waiting with two charges before you get a box. Seems ridiculous so I skip every other month.
