Fortune Cookie Soap “The Force” May 2018 Review
This box comes with a mini handbook detailing the products, how to use it, the unique scent, and ingredients. New to the handbook is pricing details for each item! One thing of note— I have purchased from the FCS website several times, and all of the listed prices match up with what I have seen available for sale once the collection becomes available.
Sky Walker Spray Lotion, 4.5 oz - Listed Value $9.99
I thought this was really nifty! The spray lotion is a very fine and clear mist- it almost reminds me of sunscreen, only this is way more moisturizing with a better scent. This is packed with aloe and coconut oil to be hydrating without being greasy, and I loved the slightly sweet fruity scent from the lemon, mango, and tea leaves! This is perfect for the summer where I don't want dry skin, but it is so humid outside I don't want to slather on thick lotion.
Rebel Princess Restorative Hair Mask, 4.5 oz - Listed Value $19.99
This mask is reallyyyy thick— it reminded me of the thick gel people use to form their hair into a mohawk. I actually liked how thick it was, because I felt like I was able to use less and still coat my hair. This is recommended as a 5-7 minute mask, and I left it in for about two hours while I went around my apartment doing chores (I guess I was embracing the rebel part of this theme). When I finally washed it out, my hair felt so soft and silky— I really loved the texture. My hair is due for a trim to snip off dead ends, but I hate haircuts and always put them off. This mask left my hair feeling like I could continue pushing off that haircut (I am still traumatized from a bad cut I got in the winter of 2014 from someone who promised they knew how to cut curly hair).
The Droids You're Looking For OCD Hand Sanitizer, 1.5 oz - Listed Value $2.89
The Droids You're Looking For Travel Hand Lotion, 1 oz - Listed Value $3.99
This combo is perfect for storing in your purse and using on the go! Lime and cilantro is mixed with coconut milk and sandalwood to make a really refreshing scent. I love the convenience of this hand lotion - I have already attached it to the inner strap of my purse, and I found it to be hydrating and non-greasy. I love the OCD hand sanitizer line, and this glittery orange is no exception. For those of you who are unfamiliar, here is their explanation for why their hand sanitizer is named OCD:
Although we love being witty, cheeky, and poking fun in general, we chose to name our hand sanitizer, OCD, to bring awareness to OCD itself. We donate a portion of the sales from that product to the OCD Foundation to further research on it. We chose to use the product OCD since that is the product that the people generally will jokingly say they have OCD when the use hand sanitizer a lot, so we believe it is the most recognizable to people.
The Darkside Red Clay Face Mask, 2.45 oz - Listed Value $14.95
I loved how soothing this mask was— it reminded me a lot of this mask from Origins. It left my skin feeling healthy and calm, while also having the oil production controlled. I appreciated the light scent of almond milk and shea, as it smelled like a natural face mask here to sooth all of my skin worries.
Hidden Rebel Base Fabric & Room Spray, 2.5 oz - Listed Value $8.99
It is through the Fortune Cookie Soap Easter Box that I learned cyclamens is one of my favorite scents, and since cyclamens are on this scent list (along with sea salt air and black plums) it is no surprise that I absolutely love it. Two spritzes left my living room smelling refreshed like I had just blown out a lovely smelling candle.
Smuggler Sugar & Spice Body Polish, 8 oz - Listed Value $15.95
This body polish is magic. The scent combination of cardamon and rosewater really creates a spicy and sweet scent that I have no problem rubbing all over my body, and it provided an awesome exfoliation without leaving my skin feeling dry. It is a little unwieldy to use, but I do appreciate the plastic scoop to prevent wet hands from ruining the entire scrub.
The Verdict: I love the creativity you see in Fortune Cookie Soap Box, and this month, in particular, had some really stellar creations. I am not the biggest Star Wars Fan, but this may be my favorite creation yet— the products are incredible and the scents are just divine. Every month I am more than happy with what I receive, but this month feels like FCS looked into a crystal ball to see what exact products I needed in my life.
