Each month you will receive a Cricket Wonder magazine. This goes over what the main theme of the month is and how that ties back to the project. This month is all about taking turns, something we are actively working on with our 2-year-old. Inside you will also find other helpful articles! This month you can read about how to bond over a book, stages and types of play, and how you can help your little one discover the outdoors.

Next, I received this little information card that goes over everything in the box. It takes you through how to assemble your project, how to play the board game and other activities that you can do with everything in this month's box. Super helpful!

Forest Puppets

Look at these cute little puppets! These little forest puppets, I would say, are the main feature in this month's box because you can do so many different games with them. Assembling them was super easy and I think they turned out great! My son loves animals so he was really excited to see these little creatures of the forest.

Tree Hollow Bag

The next item is this tree hollow bag. This is one activity that you can do with the puppets, and it also is a great way to store them when you aren't using them. All you have to do for assembly is attach the little leaves so nothing too hard here again! Your little one can play with the forest puppets by putting them in and out of the tree hollow, which really helps with imaginative play. My son thought it was fun to put the puppets and other toys into the tree hollow!

Board Game

The main project we received this month was the board game that you can use the puppets as main game pieces to play with! Here is the actual board for the game, it is a cute little forest for our forest puppets to move through! This folds nicely so you can store it easily. I am very impressed with the quality and just overall design of this board game, everything was very carefully thought out and crafted.

Game Pieces

Here are the game pieces that allow us to play the board game. Here are the rules! You want to keep these pieces in that bright green bag, the first player reaches in to grab one token and then they put the piece back into the bag once they are done. Then onto the next player! But what do the pieces mean?! Well, if you get a number token, that is how many spaces you move your puppet, similar to rolling a dice. Then, if you receive the log, you want to place the piece on the logs in the river, your puppet doesn't get to move if you receive the log. The reason we want to build the logs over the river is that once all three log pieces are placed over the river, then players can use that as a space to move further along the board! Once all of the forest puppets have found their way home then the game is done!

Kiwi Crate March 2018 - game together

Here it is set up before we started playing the game! Ah, I can't get over how cute this is. Like I said earlier, we are really working on learning how to take turns and focusing on a task like a game for more than five minutes. My son is just newly 2 so he is constantly on the go! This game was a bit tricky for him, but we kept it out and would keep coming back to the game throughout the day which he really loved. I am going to keep working at this one because I know one day soon he is going to love it!

Crickets Campfire Concert - Listed Value $6.95

Each month you can expect to receive a Cricket board book. My son loves to read so adding to his library collection is always a plus! These books are very simple, not a ton of words and very light design. I love the images and how they almost look like a sketch. The stories of Cricket are always super fun and this book allowed us to teach our son all about campfires, something he is really interested in seeing in real life this summer!

Verdict: This was my first-month receiving Cricket Crate, but I can safely say that I am in love! I honestly didn't know what to expect, but when I moved through the box I became more and more impressed with the care and quality of each item. Connecting the monthly project to a skill like 'learning to take turns' is something that is very important to me. I am a stay at home mommy so I am always looking for new crafts and games, but I am always looking for ways to help my son learn and grow since he isn't always around other kids or in a structured school atmosphere just yet. At $19.95 plus free shipping, we received a complete board game, a board book, a tree hollow for more puppet fun, and I received a helpful magazine to guide me through this month's box. All in all, this is an incredible value for everything received, but more importantly for me, this box is a win for my son Fox to help him learn and grow.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, but it's likely you will receive the May box. From KiwiCo:

Crates are assigned each month based on availability and your crate history - not all subscribers receive the same theme each month.
